  • Hi all! Hope you all are doing well 💗
This vlog took foreverrr to edit because I had to do lots of translating. Come watch me spend a day with my family speaking in Cantonese and Taishanese!
I've been on a journey to learning more about my family's language, culture, and history. I hope sharing bits and pieces of it can help others who are on a similar journey that i am!

Wonderful family! Immigrant families are extremely hard working and have tremendous respect for their elders. Brings tears of joy to my eyes as an old BBC (British Born Chinese)

Your grandpa reminds me of my father!! Your toi sang is pretty o.k...lol I'm amazed this language is still around, everytime I hear it spoken it makes me remember my parents. My toi sang is better than my cantonese. My cantonese is somewhat passable. My parents spoke only in toi sang. Love your podcast.

Love your channel, liang nooi, because of your Toisanese heritage, praise you for willing to learn the language and the close family ties, your grandpa's opinion about ABC,to me is correct because I was educated in English but as a third generation Malaysian of Toisanese heritage,I speak fluent Toisanese and Cantonese of course, mostly spoken in the capital city's Kuala Lumpur Chinatown.Long live the Toisanese heritage and God bless.😅❤😅
