    okay i'm confused because I got the same answer but i didn't turn everything into fractions. like maybe it's because i'm in Acc 7 math that i was taught differently? my way
    y/6-3=-11 which you can get rid of the -3 first so what you do is -3+3 and you also have to do -11+3 then you should get y/6 = -8 then to get the y alone you multiply with the 6 so you should get y= -48

    Other way to solve
    A=answer
    y=numerator
    D=denominator. ok?
    To find the y, just A - (the number that your gonna subtract with). Then (the number that you have now) times D. If A is negative, the y will be negative. If the A is positive, the y is gonna be positive😊😊
    He's right, but i hope that you guys can better at solving this if you didn't understood that.

    A simple way is to take -3 to the other side and there will remain -8 then cross multiply with 6 ...
    = -48 ...

      It's just the initial equation but replacing y with the answer we want to check, then see if it is still equal to, in this case, -11

      @mathissimple2  Před 3 lety +2

      Anytime you are dealing with whole numbers and fractions, putting a 1 under the whole number is the easiest way to determine what number is the numerator (top) and denominator (bottom). It makes multiplying fractions a lot less confusing.

      y/6 -3 =-11
      y/6 = -11+3
      y/6 =-8
      y/6 x 6/1 cross cancel = -8/1 x 6/1 ignore the 1's, just multiply -8 x 6
      y = -48 Hope you understand
