- Every competitive gamer dreams of being thought as a "god" on the server, but very few actually ascend to that status. For most of us, willing to invest our time and effort into our favourite games, being competent but average is essentially what we're relegated to in perpetuity.
However, there exists a breed of gamer that, despite investing countless hours into their esport of choice, will struggle to even hit those heights. They represent a degree of bad that you encounter in match-making that's so egregious, that it makes you question whether they're real people at all.
And it’s this situation that's given rise to possibly the most offensive insult that can be hurled at a gamer: bot.

Legit though, I've WON a lot of games because we kicked out non-playable bot team mate back in the old CSGO
We all have heard this words: "Even a bot can play better than you"
As a TF2 player, I see this as an absolute win.
No surprise there. My first experience with bots was Counter-Strike Source's bots and I got instantly headshotted by them. This is a far cry from the old Pod-Bot that was the gold standard in the old CS 1.3/1.5 at that time.

As far as I know, its counter strike that really made the word bot get cemented as an insult. Back then to add ai you have to type addbots to console if I'm not mistaken so when a player sucks, they are called addbot then later just bots.
my favorite insult has always been "i bet you have a well paying job and a wife and kids"
The most annoying thing people say to is "You're not a pro player" dude I know, I'm 17k elo just like you, I just want communications that's all I am asking for.....
This term never made sense to me for the longest because trying playing a bot on the hardest difficulty in a fighting game and watch you get your face kicked in and resort to cheesy tactics or a shooter and get beamed. Lol just look at Elden Ring😂
That’s why I like helldivers 2, the predictability and random shit that happens in those games make it so fun to play and play again

this video reminded me of back in like 2018 when I used to try hard injustice mobile and realized the ranked mode you vs real players characters (it works similar to clash royale in that regard you get cards and can equip them along with certain buffs to individual characters and can upgrade your characters/cards(which are the same thing sometimes)) but you dont ever fight actual players its just their cards with cpu with your cards and you...lets just say I took advantage of that and got insane pay2win ultra leveled cards without ever paying by grinding ranked and fighting bots on par with level 4 smash ultimate bots

Getting Called a Bot can be a massive compliment as well in terms of Skilling, such as in Curse of Aros, Runescape, etc.

Sorry if I'm wrong but if I'm not mistaken I think the game that uses the word "Bot" in the game is CS:GO (Circa 2013) (Maybe DOTA2 I don't play MOBA as Much). Most Bots back then either called as CPU player or NPC.

btw, for those who are interestedin lingual shit and want to know more about word origins. Robot is a noun created from another noun Robota, which is old style of saying "work" or "job". Thats why robots are meant to do shit for us, cuz the word literally means something like Worker or Somethning that does the work or get the job done. For no misunderstandings this isn't noun for human worker. It's specifically noun for a machine that does the job created from the word "work".
