They were joking. That wasn't serious. She isn't actually allergic to color, but the school made an exception because she's a dark person personality wise, and will only wear black. The whole Addams family is the same way

Even though she appears able to do "anything" Wednesday is not a Mary Sue character because she does have a Flaw which is her inability to see connect with others on an emotional level and as a result tends to treat all interactions as purely utilitarian exchanges.
Larissa Weems was Morticia Frump's (now Addams) roommate when they were both attending Nevermore Academy, and I think that their relationship may have been much like what we see between Enid and Wednesday. There are certainly layers to Ms. Weems. And everyone else.
but i don´t think the frump/weems relationship bloomed into true friendship.... i think they were more like bianca/wednesday caught in the same team...

It strings you along with clues that make you THINK you might know where it's going...and who is the villain...and you, like every other reviewer and myself were completely wrong on all counts. Keep watching and be prepared to be surprised...a lot. This show is amazing.
I know a lot of people who think Enid was pretty great as an optimistic foil for Wednesday. As for me, I think everyone else paled in comparison to Jenna Ortega. I don't think the rest of the cast sucked or anything, but Jenna absolutely carried the show.

On a purely set-up level Wednesday is kinda bad: Why put a weird person in a weird place? If everything is weird doesnt that make her inherently less interesting? It's a school for outcasts where literal vampires and werewolf's are freaked out by a goth girl?! Ortega gives a very strong performance but even as a character she doesnt make a lot of sense: Wednesday claims to like violence and bloodshed but she is trying to stop the mayhem? If she's a contrarian why preserve the Nevermore status quo?? Ultimately the show is likeable but shallow. I dont really get why adult reactors are so into the highshool drama and love triangles...

Yes she is. Without her, show would be like Velma. Changed show and not the show we remember. Gomez is made like a normal man who was as young, like Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind, madly in love in a Morticia who is by the way a witch, to the insanity that he dont even care about anything that she does, and as old guy, a very ugly guy. And Pugsley, a insane kid who we remember as explosive pyromaniac that always has the axe in his pocket, was made as wimp who is bullied by everyone in school. This is not the Adams family same as Velma is not the real Scoobu Doo, but thanks to Jenna Ortega who is only acting like the real Adams, and as what Wensday would be as a teenager, show is safe. For now.
I can't with the razzie CW acting from everone that isn't a "teen" and lets all laugh on that. But yea. It isn't offensively bad but outside of the dance no one will speak of this until the next season. Where it will be talked about for one week and forgotten.
Yeah you can definitely tell this is catered to a teen/young adult female audience. Which explains the cringe love triangle. Seems like catering to women just reduces the quality in general. This show should have been written for a young adult (mid 20s to early 30s) and the quality would have been much better. It basically just needed to be a bit more mature.
