The fact that the hard drive pops out so easily encourages me in diagnosing my own Toshiba Satellite. I had slightly smacked it on a file cabinet, thought little of it, but after that came the dreaded "Boot Loop!" I do think I popped it loose. Watch it, folks, it only takes a hard tap to do it.
Good idea and good luck! Let me know how it goes :)
Thanks for a great video I have Toshiba C70D-12U The same as in the video and with this and your other videos I have Installed 1TB SSD and an extra 8gb of Ram AND Installed Window 10 on my Laptop in a total of 50 Minutes. Great Thanks.

Hi, Does it also work for Toshiba Satellite L870-138 schwarz (PSKBLE-01M008GR)? Do you know of there is a Ssd /CPU i can upgrade this 8 year old laptop? thanks in advance :)
So I'm tryna fix a black screen can't find C drive prob. I can sign into windows and get to a flashing task bar but can't get to bios or settings. Vids said take ram out put back in and disk drive and hard drive but hard drive is either actually missing or its built in cause there's an empty slot but no connections and somthing else looks like the hard drive but can't come out there isnt even screws and I can't take the back plate off cause of one invisible to buried screw.
Thanks for the video. That is a different caddy than I have seen before.
Yes, there are all sorts of different ones! Glad this video was helpful :)
Can I do this to my Toshiba satellite c55d-b5310 laptop? And upgrade everything? Especially CPU. Thanks
Thank you for the videos. I have a Satellite Pro R50B which will only boot up on the original 500GB HDD. I have tried SDD and another HDD which I have loaded fresh OS (both Windows 10 and Linux) but none will boot. Ironically when I use the HDD or SDD in a USB caddy it will boot for Linux. The original 500GB HDD has been upgraded to Windows 10 and still works, but I want to clone to a 512GB SDD to increase speed. I have tried the setting of the time and date and original and new disks are GPT so should boot up with UEFI. The cloned drives(SSD and HDD) work in other PCs but not the Toshiba laptop.
I would welcome any suggestions that would enable me to use this laptop with Windows 10 on SSD.
Thank you for helping me understand. You are a good teacher.
Thanks !! Glad this video was helpful :):)

Im sorry, but im not sure I understand. Your hard drive has a port that is visible from the outside? One port on your computer is resessed. Are you saying it my have physical damage? Feel free to post a video to your own youtube channel and message me back here when you do. I can then view and advise further
Great videos! My satellite seems to hang after signing in but eventually makes it to the start screen if I leave it long enough. Unfortunately nothing responds at that point. Any ideas?

Can you tell me which you prefer or would do on installing windows 10 on the new ssd? Seen some ppl clone thier harddrive to the new ssd pop it in and go and ive seen the opposite where they reinstall w10. If i go with reinstall is there anything i must do before that other than a usb and prompts? As in is there anything i must save for the toshiba satellite?
I have an l75 c7250. Ive done the ram and am about to do the ssd
No. If you are performing a fresh install using an Install Media USB, you dont have to do anything else but run it as seen here: czcams.com/video/mplogxgClgk/video.html&lc=UgwiNZNALqX_8YylK1x4AaABAg

So I just put a new hard drive in the same Toshiba laptop and I'm not sure where to go next... I've done the Toshiba Setup but I am not 100% sure if I did it right as it keeps saying no bootable device....

I just followed your video and determined that my Hard drive is bad on my toshiba 4500 laptop. this will no be my main computer and I would like to put in a 500 GB drive to replace the 750GB that went bad. What kind of compatibility issues do I have to look out for?
Just make sure your getting a 2.5 inch drive for laptops with a SATA connection. You should be good :)
Hi do you have any guide to changing the wifi card for old toshiba satellite? thanks
What model satellite do you have?
ok, an old vid, do you still answer questions? my question is, when i go to remove the bottom cover, there seems to be a ribbon cable attaching the top to either the hard drive and the lower cover, I removed all the screws, and after a 12 round bout, w/o breaking anything, as i was taking the bottom off, there is this ribbon cable, so what does it go to and how do i split the case w/o messing the whole thing up? if you answer my question, hit like so i get notification that you replied, thanks
No idea if you're still around or will get notice of a new comment on an old vid.
I have a Toshiba satellite c55d-b5206.
The original sata HDD had the rubber caddy but also a piece of metalic tape stuck to the underside of the HDD with 2 screws holding it to the drive, then a small strip that goes to a screw post, maybe for grounding?
The new HDD doesn't have this so I'm unsure if I should put it into the new drive now?
Any idea?
HDD's do not need grounding so as long as it plugs in securely, you should be all set :)

Hey! Is this for a Toshiba Satellite AMD A4 C700-C series?
I didnt keep track of what computer was used for this video or what the processor was. Sorry :(
Hi,
thank you bro, thank you so much for your video.
Is it possible to upgrade my laptop Toshiba Satellite C55t from hard drive to SSD and what would be the right one. Can you please recommend the right SSD. Thank you 🙏
Yes you can :) It would have to be the same size as your HDD or at least have a converter caddy if not. Your most likely looking for the same things as a HDD such as a 2.5 inch drive with a SATA connection :)
@@PC_Monkey thank you so much 🙏
@@perryfernandes9890 Your welcome !! Happy to help :)
I know nothing about repairing or installing computer insides but this video was very helpful and informative.
I have a toshiba satellite cl45-c4370 I barely use it because it tends to turn off or blink on and off when I start doing anything. So I figured that I would try and get a bigger hard drive, hoping that would help the issue.
But after following the step you provided, I have come to realize that I may not have a hard drive because I didn't see anything that remotely looked like yours.
I guess my question is it possible to not have a hard drive and just internal memory?
Also I didn't really see a ram bar.
No. Your computer should have either a Hard Drive or a Solid State Drive. If you cant see any, the SSD may be in the form of a smaller drive thats integrated into your motherboard. That cannot be easily removed / upgraded. If I understood your issue correctly, you cannot turn on your computer? It just blinks and turns off. Did I get that right? Does it turn off before or after your able to see anything on the screen?
@@PC_Monkey no I can turn it on. It just once I actually start doing things, mainly on the internet, right in the middle of whatever I was doing my screen will momentarily go black and reappear. Everything I that I would be working on would be closed out and my brower will ask me do I want to restore my pages.
@@brittneybennett-rood1820 Try using the steps seen here to see if you can find any errors matching the time of that happening; czcams.com/video/Nqn8-jJFx2Y/video.html
Hi @PC Monkey - can you replace the video card on this kind of computer? Our 2015 Toshiba Satellite C55 laptop has an Intel HD Graphics 5500 card, and I think my son needs an NVIDIA card to run the Unity game design software. Advice? We were able to get the hard drive of the laptop replaced and working again, thanks to your videos!
Great to hear !!
On most laptops like this, the graphics card is integrated into the hard drive. You may be able to get an external USB hook up for an additional graphics card. Upgrading things like that is much easier in a desktop computer setup vs a laptop.
Hi I know this is a super old video I'm wondering can I run this on an external hard drive instead of buying a replacement internal one?
Can you run an operating system on an external hard drive? Yes, you should be able to do that :)
great videos. my problem is win 10 I went through boot menu, problem is win 10. cant get to screen for win repairs
I dont understand your comment. Are you trying to install Windows 10 onto your Toshiba?
What screwdriver is that
how to access the two other slots of ram? my toshiba satellite showing 4 slot but when i open it i saw only 2 slots
2 could be integrated into the motherboard. What model do you have?
@@PC_Monkey I have the same question as the person on this post. My model is: Toshiba Satellite L755-S5110. Where is the other 2 slots or RAM? Thanks much!
@@KenL-wh2jv Not all motherboards have removable RAM. If you cant find it, its possible that its integrated into the motherboard.
Do you have the toshiba satellite pro s300-ez2521
No, sorry. I dont currently have that computer :(
I have a Toshiba Satellite Model number is: C40D-C. Looks like the one in this video. Can I upgrade the CPU, if not can you tell me why. Much appreciated, Chernoa.
No :( The CPU in this model computer is integrated into the motherboard and cannot be easily removed or replaced.

Not in this model computer. Both are integrated into the motherboard and cannot be easily remove or replaced :(
@@PC_Monkey anything i can do to improve the speed?
i need help fixing my toshiba labtop. I slammed my hands down on keyboard in frustration and now it says it cant find hard drive
Most likely you either damaged the Hard Drive or caused it to become loose. Try reseating it. If that does not help, refer to this video next; czcams.com/video/2Hh1wIS9NDo/video.html
it gets to the windows 10 logo and the wheel keeps spinning for few minutes. then it is scanning C: drive for sectors to fix doing 2 passes then tries fix them. Then I get a blue screen with the word Recovery followed by your PC wont start properly An unexpected I/O error has occured. The problem can happen when a removable storage devvice is removed while it's in use or is falling. So do you think that I should just invest in a new hard drive. Would solid state drive work in a Toshiba Satalite.
@@74brush74 If you cannot locate the UEFI vs Legacy options or if changing them does not help your issue, then try reinstalling Windows as seen here; czcams.com/video/e7hzoRI-cSY/video.html. You can see how to create your own install media for free here; czcams.com/video/g_UhiHScaSI/video.html. If that fails, it means your Hard Drive is bad and needs to be replaced as seen here; czcams.com/video/tNp5Kbo9uHg/video.html. Remember to install Windows onto the new drive after the install :)
can I just use a hard drive duplicator? I like the Sabrent two port for only $40 from Amazon Prime.
This is a video tutorial showing you how to replace a hard drive. I dont understand your question. Are you trying to replace your drive?
@@PC_Monkey yes. The hard drive in my Toshiba satellite c655 warns that it is going to fail. It actually still works but I haven't used in in many years. I cloned it to an external drive but I'm just getting around to replacing it. I have access panels for both the hard drive and the RAM. They're very easy to remove. It's a 240G 2.5 inch HDD SATA drive, probably SATA 2 given its age. I went on Western Digital's web site and found out that SATA3 is backwards compatible with SATA 2 The original replacement drive isn't available except for stupid dollars. I picked out a 500 G Toshiba SATA drive, probably SATA3 on Amazon for around 18 dollars. I've also picked out a nice 2 slot hard drive docking station/duplicator for 40 dollars. I'm going to pull the trigger probably today or tomorrow. What do you think. BTW thank you for your posting, very informative. If it works, I've still got a lot of old computers going back to Windows 98 and XP I might try to repair. Right now I have two operating computers but I only usually use my venerable HP desktop Running Windows 7 which I still like. I really hate laptops and always buy keyboards, a mouse, and a 43" TV set I use for a monitor. I've got a very nice Lenovo running Windows 10 but I never use it. I've have a new Logitec wireless keyboard and mouse from Amazon sitting in a box for about a week.
The HDD in the Toshiba has a really nice metal carriage that looks much nicer than the one in your video. It's held in by a tab with one screw hole and the cover panel is also held in by one screw. So do you think I should by this. I actually liked that computer a lot. I've been trying to decide between a Samsung and an LG TV. Both are $300. I think the prices might go down after the superbowl. Anyway, I have a Samsung S22 Ultra + so I'm leaning to the Samsung. There might be some interface advantages. Again, thanks a lot for your posting. I'll subscribe to your channel.
@@markfischer3626 Sounds like a solid plan to me :) Good luck !! Let me know how it goes :)
@PC_Monkey I've already got the Sabrent 2 slot docking station duplicator. 500 gig HDD 2.5 inch Toshiba hard drive coming Friday or Monday. For $40 that duplicator is a very great thing to buy.
There’s a little door with one screw on the back that you can access the hard drive, no need to totally take the back off.
There are many different models of Toshiba Satellite computers. On some, yes, there is a easy access panel to access various components. But on the model seen here in the video, no there is not. Its pretty clear to see too lol so um...
Can i replace a toshiba hard drive with a gateway hard drive 2:59
As long as its the same kind of HDD, yes. The brand does not matter
Does anyone know the hard drive used? does it matter what hard drive I use?
This video used a 2.5 inch hard drive for laptops. It also has a SATA connection. Double check that its the correct one for your computer.
