  • Tune in to my journey into repairing this Fermont 15kw 804-a diesel generator with an isuzu c-240 engine
    This video was powered by 70% diesel generator and 30% solar :)
    Special shoutout to Jim at Joilet electric motors for being able to rewind the exciter coils!!!

    Oh my God your projects turn out EXACTLY like mine do :-P there is nothing wrong with this its awesome...and I end up becoming an expert on what I'm fixing haha awesome generator :-) that will be with you the rest of your life now :-) I always smile when things go south with power and your neighbors show up with cords for their houses:-)

      Yeah hahaha man this thing has been one heck of an adventure. I still have some minor parts that this thing needs that I can’t find yet like a fuel filler neck

    So you had the stator&rotor rebuilt? In Chicago?

  • @bubbajoe745
    @bubbajoe745 Před rokem

    So that thing that was hanging was the stator for the alternator?

    Does the low voltage light come back on? Mine comes on startup even with nothing connect

  • @tujuprojects

    Sorry to say, but once your contactor pulls between two generators, they are not going to fall out of sync :) or an axel will snap.

    It appears that the fuel gauge on this generator is not working as it's all the way down off the scale. Is that a simple fix?

    How good frequency stabilization that genset has? My Quattro is very picky and my old genset has a mechanical governor which is not stable enough.

    Why the transformers? Why doesn't the generator just output 208/3?

    • @dynomatic5099
      @dynomatic5099  Před 2 lety +1

      It does but I like the higher voltages so it’s less of a voltage drop by the time it gets in the sub panel and I can configure the end voltage of 240 instead of just 208 for the house. I will be making a video of the complete system soon!

    I bought mine ina ebay auction, brought it home changed oil and filters, new suction line to feul tank, belt and batteries and walla. Tied into meterbase with a manual transfer switch. I ran it every sunday for a year powered up the house no issues. I am awaiting now the 2020 hurricane thinking how I will be her hero and envy of my neighbors......
    0430 AM... yes dear...the power is flickering storm is here...please go crank our generator. And I returned after an hour or so a ZERO. I cannot find infobon the F1 and F2 wires from the genhead itself. I think F2 ends up on terminal 1 of the voltage regulator? And am tracking back thru the fault relays to determine F1's destination?
    After a year of not completing my project I bought a engine controller and am in the process of dedicating my generator in a WYE High 240 configuration. I did replace the 6 rectifier diodes, just trying to determine the needs of F1 F2 ?
    The 10 lead lima mac info says self regulating and self exciting. What am I missing?

    • @dynomatic5099
      @dynomatic5099  Před 2 lety +1

      It is not self exciting. That is the purpose of the voltage regulator. What lights are on on the fault panel?

    • @tobyzahn9943
      @tobyzahn9943 Před 2 lety

      @@dynomatic5099 thankyou for a reply. Well i got frustrated after the storm, 3 weeks w/o commercial power and no help and said ok 1800 rpm 1st purchased on ebay 100 bucks with low oil pressure/ overheat/over rev failsafes.
      No issue with the engine now.
      Next up no outputs. Lets just say I am only using the 10 leads WYE 3 PHASE, the contactor and a toggle switch. I am pretty sure i isolated and ohmed the 10 correctly, no shorts. I did find 2 bad diodes in the excite rectifier, replaced all 6.
      What options do i have for F1 / F2 ?
      I hope excitation and regulation are my final riddles...
      And I realize now all of the capabilites and options I lost, but wont ever ask anything more than crank, run and 120/240. And any T/S in the future should be just the basics. I really appreciate your time, thank you.

      @@dynomatic5099 I am looking into an AVR now, and I also am looking for another diode kit that includes 3 forward and 3 reverse diodes or an assembly.

    • @dynomatic5099
      @dynomatic5099  Před 2 lety +1

      I think it’s better if your able to have a voltage regulator because you can accommodate for voltage drop when loads are applied. A normal avr won’t necessarily accommodate for that and I definitely need it when I use my transformers so i’m able to use all 3 phases instead of one or two of the legs.

    • @dynomatic5099
      @dynomatic5099  Před rokem

      If the undervoltage light is on, that could mean that your voltage regulator is bad, the only way to check that is to measure the voltage on your exciter field windings.

    Mine runs fine but is not generating any power.

    • @dynomatic5099
      @dynomatic5099  Před 6 měsíci

      The only things it could be if it’s not generating any power is your voltage regulator has failed or maybe the same problem as mine were the exciter coils are gone or your main line contactors not pulling in Tri flipping battle short on and then pressing the on button to see if the mainline contactor pulls in and you get power out
