- I'm very thrilled to have these amazing people join me on my journey to the moon and excited to see what inspiring creations they come up with in space.

Yusaku Maezawa (MZ) - Entrepreneur

Born in Chiba prefecture, Japan in 1975 (age 47), he founded the company, Start Today Ltd. (currently, ZOZO, Inc.) in 1998 and launched the online fashion mall ZOZOTOWN in 2004. The company was listed on the TSE Mothers in December 2007 (3092) and on the TSE First Section in February 2012, and its market capitalization exceeded 1 trillion yen in August 2017. In September 2019, Maezawa stepped down as CEO at the same time as the company released its capital and business alliance with Yahoo Japan Corporation. Immediately after, he established Start Today Inc., and in 2021, he started thirteen of his own businesses, including his own company's business. In December 2021, he became the first Japanese civilian to visit the ISS, spending about 12 days on board.
Great choice in Tim Dodd. A couple of the others I know, but happy to see - for me - new names that will follow you on this amazing journey. Thank you for doing this. Not many understand the profound impact I believe it will have.

I am the most excited to see Tim Dodd and Steve Aoki, but I am excited to get to know the other crew as well. What an amazing project for humanity. I cannot imagine what it must be like for each of those people. Never in my life have I ever thought I'd have a chance to go to space. Now, of course, I still don't. But these people do, and I can't help but think they all felt the same as I do. This is truly bringing the ability to go to space to the masses. Now, regular people can go. This is incredible. What an amazing adventure awaits them all! Congratulations to everyone!

アポロ計画ではきっといろんな科学的な実験や調査をしていたと思うのだけだ、結局皆の記憶に残っているのは写真とか映像なんだよね。写真はハッセルブラッドの特殊仕様のものを使っており、写真を撮っていた宇宙飛行士も心得のある人だったので、よい写真がたくさん残されているわけだけど、個性的なプロの写真家やビデオグラファーがどのような画像や映像を残すのか、とても興味がある。

I have been aware of this project for some time through the lens of Tim Dodd's coverage, however I think that this will take on a much more exciting feel and sense of presence as it enters this next phase. I wish you all the best in your individual journeys and look forward to learning about more of the crew that I didn't know prior to the announcement.

Mostly people that are already famous... Well I'm not surprised. Common people are perhaps not interesting enough for media purpose.

Usually, people who are *really* good at what they're doing tend to become famous. Take Tim Dodd. There are tons of space youtubers. He's the one who started really early, and did it well enough to become famous. People are not born famous (usually... Royalty doesn't count ;-)).
There's lots of reporters talking about space. Who asked a smart question to Elon Musk, got an answer and turned that into an even smarter question? During that first interview (when they presented the first starship), you could see that Elon was at first wary ("yet another wannabe journalist"), then thawed when it turned out that Tim had scripted little and was able to follow his explanations. That in turn led to some really cool opportunities (guided tour of starbase anyone?)...
If they're selecting really passionate and smart people, these traits tend to come out on top as well.
Yes, and it seems that out of more than 1M applications only one woman made it into the main crew... great gender equality...

Did you notice the questions they asked the candidates? Like, "What are you planning on the trip?", "How will the trip change your plans for the future?", etc.
I'm paraphrasing here, but you get the gist. I don't remember if I heard about the questions here or on Tim's channel.
An answer like "I'll enjoy the ride" will probably not cut it. Nor will "I'll dream about it for the rest of my life". SpaceX employees will probably have been excluded by the rules (similar to people working for the lottery can't play). Most of us would probably not get the time off from their employer, either...
