I never realized how badly animated this was as a kid but I loved it. I watched it at Chrsitmas time with the other Rudolph movies and couldn't stop smiling.

I had a crush on the Toy taker until I found out that he was a teddy bear... They were right, crushes are meant to crush your heart.
I honestly don't see how someone can have a crush on the toy taker because you don't see his face until like the last 10 minutes or so of the movie, but you know you never know what cartoon character someone may crush on.

I believe they're referencing the Black Mage's outfit from Final Fantasy, due to the uncanny resemblance between it and The Toy Taker's shady outfit.
Heck if I know. Maybe his flute is vaguely like a snake charmer's one, but it only charms toys.
It's all subjective, but remember, it's a fictional tale.
The “Toy Taker” has given me Disney villains vibes, seeing some of these villains were actually right about some things. That, and Simba from the Lion King movies was right about nature in the Circle of Life.

Don't care how bad the animation is, I LOVED this movie as a kid. Toy Taker was my favorite villain, and tbh, he's a well developed character.
When I was a kid I was obsessed with this character because I thought he was so cute and mysterious which i even searched the internet for pictures or wanted some kind of toy of it. Lol He's still an appealing character even now although i way in to other stuff. :)

I didn't like his backstory, actually. I felt like they ripped off Toy Story 2.

My friend is terrified of this. Just spent like half an hour looking for a "creepy trench coat guy with no visible face that plays flute and steals toys". She vividly remembered him in detail and "his purple and green toy vacuum thing" and absolutely nothing else. I was convinced that it was some fever dream that left her mentally scarred until I found this. I totally don't remember this guy from Island of Misfit Toys

Ps. I too had a crush on him for a while, this scene was the only thing i remembered about this film (including the name) for 10 years, when I found the movie again it became my favourite Christmas movie again.
Santa didn't ruin everything, he just knew that toys can only be truly happy when they are loved by children. The toy taker was just fighting the inevitable fact that children grow up and outgrow their toys... like a maniac kidnapping human kids hoping to make them immortal.
+Kiaya Plews but he was sparing them from pain, pain he experienced himself. And becides, most of them were 'misfit' toys, where kids (and nobody) wanted them because they weren't in perfect condition, he fixed them up and gave them a home when no one else would ^_^

In my opinion the best to do for this movie was to be nothing underneath his clothes instead of a teddy bear. It would make him more mysterious.

In all seriousness, when the music turned to that dark organ tune, I half expected TT to do something really nasty to the Jack in the Box. The CGI may not have aged well, (None of it really does.) but this song itself is still top notch.
The CGI hasn't aged terribly. It holds a nostalgic feel imo. The. animations good for the time.

I had only ever seen this in Swedish before (my native language) but I wanted to check this out for nostalgic reasons and oh gosh, I remember how much I loved it! The English lyrics are also much better. And frankly, that voice gives me chills, the rolling R's, mmmmh... Definitely had a thing for the Toy Taker as a kid! I was honestly a little disappointed by his "reveal" in the end.

The Toy Taker’s character nose dives upon the reveal. They really should have just channeled this energy at the climax.

Ngl when I was little the Toy Taker reminded me a lot of the lightning wizard and druid enemies from the Magic Crafter worlds from Spyro and Mr. Dark from the first Rayman game on PS1 to a point were I thought that the Toy Taker was somehow connected to the Magic Crafters wizards and Mr. Dark.
