VW golf heaters cold and losing water

- mk7 golf heaters not blowing warm air and loosing about a pint of water every few days.. well this is why and also the repair procedure. it's quite a common fault across the vag platforms where the heater core blocks up with casting sand after manufacture.. there is no easy or cheap way about doing this job as the core replacement is fairly simple, it's the actual cleaning of the coolant system that is quite labour intensive!!

Great video. Any chance you have. Detailed instructions on how to correctly drain the coolant. I’ve pulled the bottom hoses off and only got a couple litres out of it.

Hi thanks for the video how much should a garage charge for this job? and my cars not losing coolant so could it still be the heater matrix if its giving cold air when car is warm.

@z0r036 what have you tried so far mate? Iv changed coolant tank had it all flushed out. New radiator matrix.. still not worked.. so my next step is the thermostat!!
@@Johnnyp84 nothing yet mate looked in my coolant tank and it's full of brown gunk will replace both tank and matrix how much did it cost you parts are 140 new for tank and matrix
@z0r036 not sure bout that gunk. I put a radweld in mine an the water got dirty.. parts wise.. Ebay £60 for a matrix.. new bottle £25 ish for a decent 1.. an a thermostat is £18 mate.. my mates does cars so iv been lucky with cost's..

hello how did this cause it to lose coolant? i have a mk7 gti thats loosing coolant but cant see any visible leaks. ive changed water pump, expansion tanks. every couple days coolant loses. any idea?
I have the same problem, I also changed the water pump, a agr ventil, expansion tank, nothing helped.. maybe you have a solution?
When the matrix / core is blocked, it's over pressurises the system and so the relief valve on the expansion tank opens. This is where it "leaks" from. On the TDI, if you're noticing the drop every few hundred miles you'll find it's When the DPF is doing a regeneration ad it requires the coolant system to cool the EGR down. If you're noticing coolant drop every other day then chances are it's a leak in a hose somewhere, or a leak on the egr cooler or a bad waterpump.
@@Chazebrimbor Yeah I have the same issue now, every 300 miles/500km when a DPF regen occurs, the car loses coolant out of the expansion tank, two garages could not find this out as it passes all pressure tests too. I feel like it has to be the silica bag and it must reach the core and partially block it enough that coolant still passes through the mesh bag but under higher temps during a DPF it can't pass through fast enough and over pressurises, thats just a theory I've thought of, also heard or casting sands and silica particles blocking it up too. I'm planning on changing mine this weekend but a full flush is probably not possible for myself at this moment, if it blocks again the heater core was only £58 so cheaper to replace that again then have a full flush, I'll probably just drain and fill as best as I can.

@@MikBaran ended up with blown head gasket, couldn’t start the car first time, wet spark plugs. Cylinders filled with coolant every morning after night drives.
We’ve got a Skoda superb 2018 that we’ve put 2 matrix’s in and 3 water pumps. Have done the flush as quoted by vw with the chemicals however the coolant still turns orangey and kills all the components. Is there a permanent fix?

Hello, when I start my golf 7 2.0 tdi, the windshield and the side windows fog up when I turn on the air conditioner, after 10 15 seconds it gets better, could it be from this radiator?
Do you have the AC on prior to turning the vehicle off. Also could be the drain for the AC blocked up

If you just cleaned it the problem solved 😂
poor design, and g13 coolant does that, that's why they change it with the g12 evo.
