I think real plates made to look like paper picnic plates are excellent attention to detail! We always had those growing up! I applaud Disney!!!
I thought this too!!
If only they used a similar vibe with red solo cups for drinks too
Of all the theming items, I thought the plates were adorable. How clever. Andy's mom would send him outside with paper plates, not her good china.
I agree. I was confused why AJ didn't like them. That's the great thing about Disney. There is something for everyone.
I saw the plates in a catalog a few years ago. There's even a version with ants painted on them.
I think what we all have to remember is that most of the people reviewing these restaurants are people that are frequently in the parks. So it takes a lot to impress them. But for folks who just go every now and then, I would take their advice with a grain of salt. Personally, I think the porcelain paper plates were innovative, not cheap looking. But since we don’t go more than a couple times a year, this is definitely on our list of restaurants to visit!
To add onto your comment - I don't think this is trying to be the Polite Pig. It's clearly kid-first, the theming and ambiance took priority over the food it seems, which is fine. My kids will remember the characters, sounds and walls over the food.
@@russmacc316 did you end up going? And don’t get me wrong, I am appreciative when influencing channels are honest! I would much rather them give a negative review that is honest than a positive one just to not upset DISNEY itself. I was just saying that I disagreed with their opinion about the plates, but it would be cooler if they added characters since the cost is pretty much the same as a character dine anywhere else.
@@jillapril78 Not yet! I’m not sure if I’ll be going this year but probably in 2024. I agree with you, this being a channel that does a ton of food, I understand critiquing the food on the level with the other restaurants, especially if the cost is high, I just think this particular one is probably going for the kids atmosphere and less about food quality. I definitely agree 1000% about the characters, hopefully they implement that in the future!
I was thinking that too. We have never gone to the parks so I thought it was pretty cool. Plus my kiddos are obsessed with toy story so they would probably think it was the coolest place ever!
@@jillapril78 Honestly the Barbecue is better at Flame Tree Barbecue for far less money in Animal Kingdom and obviously was far more expensive here. The vegan platter was better than I expected though. If I were going for the barbecue - I would choose Whispering Canon Cafe as being better as well. However, the food was decent and it was a themed delight for my great-grandchildren. For them I would go again if they wanted to but for me, it is another place at Disney that I have already experienced and there are lots of others I still want to go to. Since My Granchildren and Children are already well into adulthood (I have 65 year old Triplets among them) I would suggest that they go for the little ones as well. Now the question is - are YOU into themed dining and being young again ? Then Try it, but since Hollywood studios is not one of my two day parks I would rather not waste the time on a sit down if I an help it AND I would prefer a sit down for Dinner while this is a Luncheon to me
When I saw those plates in other reviews, I thought they were real, and while that would have been rather cheap, I thought they went perfect for the theme of the restaurant. But once I saw they are ceramic made to look like cheap plates from a family's BBQ, I had to tip my hat to Disney, as I think they are a perfect touch. And I don't say that often about anything Disney, but I had to give credit when its due.
Wow I’m completely shocked by this review, especially since I ate there and I’m in love! The price for the amount of food served is amazing and the food was delicious. I ate so much I left with a stomach ache! The decor was beautiful and the paper plate design was innovative. I highly recommend this place and will go back in the future … that’s if I can get a reservation 😆
I love the paper plate look cause it's Andy's backyard BBQ so it's goes nice with the theme to me.
Sometimes it’s worth a little extra money to just have a cool place to sit and eat. So many times we’ve struggled to find a place to sit down in the parks with a tray of food. Cool atmosphere and theming.
Got very lucky and was able to get a reservation for our trip in April, we had booked it before it actually opened on the 23rd. I'm excited for the experience mostly, I'm sure the food is going to be delicious. It may not be the BBQ us southerners typically enjoy, but the food seems like it's promising!
We ate here on the second day it was open and I agree it’s a lot of food for two people! I have a gluten/wheat allergy so we were almost there for 2.5 hours as the chef had to approve everything on a case by case basis. I can confirm that the extra care and attention ensured that I was not “glutened” as I did not become sick afterwards. Very delicious and clever foods, I like a little taste of everything. FYI as of 3/24/23 Round Up Rodeo BBQ does not take any discounts. :)
Thank you for posting your comment as I have a gluten allergy too! I’m glad you had a good experience!
Those plates that look like paper plates are awesome, that goes with the theming! Theming & atmosphere looks amazing. Appreciate your review.
I think the paper plate look was genius! I can't wait to try this place, I will make sure I don't eat lunch that day though!
The aethestic is going for a backyard BBQ so the plates were a nice touch imo, and I kinda wish they doubled down to have drinks served in red solo cups. Kinda wanted to hear a side of review to see if it'd be worth going to compared to other restaurants while inside the park, because not everyone is gonna wanna leave the park to go to a different BBQ place if they're spending a whole day in Hollywood Studios.
Thank you for including the plant-based menu AJ! These "prix fixe" or "family style" restaurants are always tough for us to find value. We don't eat as much as average so this is likely a pass for us in the current iteration.
This place is really screaming to be a character dining restaurant. I wonder if there are any plans to add that in the future. Maybe once the initial hype winds down?
Ate there on the second day they opened. I LOVED the food! Totally worth it
This definitely should be a character dining restaurant such a missed opportunity
It does seem weird to charge a premium for alright food without the character accompaniment. I personally don’t get character dining, but it is an expense (in terms of additional staff, and is desired by kids and some adults. It does seem like they dropped ball there, especially with all the theming.
Can you create a video talking about all "All you can eat" locations throughout all Disney World parks?
I’m pretty burnt out on Toy Story these days and our kid isn’t big on BBQ so for $45 per person it sounds like we will be passing on this one on our next trip. Also, it sounds like way too much food if there are only two of you. Thanks for mentioning the quick service options again for us!
Another good review. I have viewed most of the reviews from the major vloggers. All good, but are reviewing without a family. If your lugging your family around the park for 4-5 hours from ride to ride and show to show in the Florida heat, heading into here maybe the best thing of the day. Air conditioned building, cold drinks and hot food. This seems like it will be a big hit for families and Toy Story fans. May not be the ideal spot for couples, but seems like a great addition to Hollywood Studios.
Its.A.Picnic Ceramic paper plates fit right in.
I do wish they had 1 or 2 characters there. The theming looks great but I haven’t heard great reviews of the food from anyone. Maybe be a one and done for us, I do think my kids would like it.
All Ears does a review and they all seemed to enjoy the food! May want to check out that video, it was very positive.
Yes, your thing about the plates is a personal issue. I would love to have a couple of paper plate-style ceramic plates to use for a casual dinner...
We LOVED our meal here! It is so cute and fun, and the food was great. The biscuits were incredible, and the barbecue was better than many other places we have eaten in Disney. The “paper” plates were perfect and added to the playful feel of the restaurant. All five of us rank it as one of our new favorite places! I highly recommend!
It looks like a lot of fun the kids will enjoy. I'm excited to go😊
As you read this message, know that you deserve love, peace, and fun! 😘❤️🤗
They need a big tv screen on the ceiling , and andy runing around and looking into the restaurant looking like a giant that woyld be nice and now an them catching the people toys moving.❤
I actually love those plates... I want them for my home
This is about the 3rd or 4th review of this restaurant that I’ve seen, and while everyone seems to unanimously agree that the theming is great, I’ve been surprised to see that reviews of the food itself have been all over the place. Some rave about it, some have absolutely hated it, and some are more mixed. It’s strange to think how this restaurant has just opened and is already so inconsistent. AJ is onto something when she says “the only thing consistent about Disney restaurants is that they’re inconsistent!” 😉
I agree. Everyone's opinions are very different. "The chicken is great," "the chicken is dry," "the best thing is the briskett," "the briskett is awful." The only universally liked thing seems to be the cupcake, haha.
@@elizabethgates7024 I’ve even seen some mixed reviews on the cupcake tbh. Everyone seems to like the bread service though
@@Haley-ne6or Yeah, I commented this before I watched the full DFB video, lol.
The bbq at Disney is the same everywhere you go pretty much! The ribs always taste like the ribs from another venue! Its along the line of school cafeteria food, the hamburger you get in elementary school will undoubtedly tast exactly like the ones that high schoolers are served!
For sure; one of the other reviewers mentioned the baked beans had jackfruit in them and that they were vegan. Don't get me wrong, I like baked beans as much as the next person, but if I'm going to have a 'vegan' version, I don't want jackfruit in it. If there's going to be something in it, please have it be actual bacon. Keep the vegan version on the menu, just ask ahead of the meal which version of the beans the diners want.
I’m a Texan so I’m definitely a BBQ connoisseur, but I haven’t even made it to Woody’s Lunch Box yet (and we’ve been twice since it opened). I still need to test out the tatchos! It looks cute though, but probably too heavy of a meal for lunch. I don’t mind the fake paper plates. 😊
Wow. I guess you didn’t think much of that😂. I made a reservation because I’m excited to see how well it’s themed. The food is secondary in this case. Plenty of other places to go for excellent food
I just wanted pizza planet. They really missed the mark with this. The first thing
you think of toy story when it comes to food isn’t bbq 🤷♀️
FYI you don’t have to have to tickets or park reservations in place to make dining reservations. Very common misconception as I’ve booked many dining reservations before booking park reservations so that I can ensure I get my dining first and then adjust plans accordingly.
Looks really cool. Food looks great. I can't wait to try it😊
We ate here last week and loved it. LOVED the “fake” paper plates!
My kids loved it here. As a professional chef I'll say this was better than every other BBQ spot in disney. I've been meaning to make thos comment since I got back from my trip and the only reason we went to this restaurant is because of the kids and I'm glad we did. All the sides except the Mac and cheese were vegan and was very good. The jam with the biscuits was perfection and fresh made. The watermelon basil salad was refreshing and the meat was tenderly smoked... I got the head chef to come out and talk with me after because it was just so good... top 5 maybe even 3 of the places I went to eat on our trip
A.J. - the plates are perfect! Great attention to detail, I love them! Now if they gave you actual paper plates, that would be tacky.
Super excited to try here! I was really struggling to find a sit down that looked awesome at HS.
"Salad to counteract the carbs." All the salads are mainly carbs! 😂
that was my thoughts too
Happy Sunday, ya’ll! 🥂
I live in Texas, where I can eat BBQ any day. As cute as it looks, I’d rather spend my time at Brown Derby.
I think it definitely needs some characters that would make it more worth it as saves time waiting to meet characters.
Agreed but then the price goes up from $45 to $59-$69 if characters are added. At the point, it definitely wouldn’t be worth it.
@@arxvphoto809 that is true
Went this week and loved it! Thought all the food was really good. Not life changing, but I wouldn't expect that from all you can eat. Way better then most all you can eat places. And I loved the paper plates! It was such a cool touch (thank you AJ for acknowledging it might be a personal preference, haha). It is pretty pricey but worth it to me for the amount/quality of the food and the atmosphere :)
The restaurant seems adorable!! The interior looks so cute as well! It’s definitely a cute fit to Toy Story Land! Those mini desert glasses too also look good! Can’t have to much BBQ, especially in WDW (in my opinion)!! 😊
I just ate here yesterday with my 7 year old daughter. We loved it! I loved the porcelain paper plates and even commented to the waitress how cute they were. The food was really good. Loved it all! Defiantly recommend it. I asked the waitress about the character greetings in the future and she said it’s definitely something they might do later.
Would this not be the actual best character dining spot in all the parks???
I love that they have a lot of vegetarian options along with such cute theming. I'm going to try to snag a reservation when I visit in October.
I personally love the plates. Such a good idea
I think I will give it a try on my next trip.
I'll be there in Sept, hope I can snag a reservation when the kids go back to school. It really looks adorable, and allEars did great video, check it out, food looks pretty good!
Maybe they are going to do character meal at a later time but they are still having staffing issues. I do hope they make it a character meal at some point.
Have been making ADRs for years for dining experiences several times a year. Never have I been able to make any reservation prior to 6:00amEST. Disney's web site does not allow reservations to be made at 5:30 or 5:45am as you claim.
depending on the day they may drop those reservations early! that's all she meant. it's not always, it's sometimes. 😊
It would be a first for me too, I make early ADR’s so I can catch the sunrise sometimes and i’ve never been able to do it before 6:30 so far.
Can’t wait to try it! I’m an annual passholder but I love Toy Story and my family is trying to try every restaurant in the parks. We just tried Mama Melrose and it was average and we probably won’t go again but we like trying new places
I understand the pricing and how that might put some people off, but when I think of Disney pricing as an annual passholder, I always ask myself, "How much am I getting for what I'm paying?" With my annual pass, I ask myself how many trips I can make before my pass is paying for itself and I'm getting a return on investment. With Roundup Rodeo, yeah the price might be a little steep, but you should ask yourself 1) How much food am I getting for that price? 2) How far would $45 go at other dining locations? 3) Are those other locations that might be higher quality conveniently located actually in the parks or would I have to derail park plans and go elsewhere to try them? 4) With as expensive as Disney food can be (especially quick service options), the amount of food you can potentially get at Roundup Rodeo for a flat rate (the more you get = the cheaper the meal actually is in the end), and the bar being "It's not competition pitmaster barbecue but it's still really good," it sounds like this restaurant is a pretty damn good deal, and a delightful experience on top of that. I can't wait to try it myself.
While RRBBQ may not hold up well compared to Polite Pig or others and while that is a valid comparison based on menu and price, for me the comparison is against other dining options in DHS, of which I am certain this is going to rank #2 and perhaps #1 overall for me at DHS. the other being Brown Derby. which is a completely different dining experience/menu. So probably 1-2 based on what do I want today. We can't wait to try RRBBQ on our upcoming May trip and I think the plates are a nice touch as well.
thanks AJ
I just made reservations, for September, can't wait to try it, just wish they would have made it Charictor dining, with woody and friends, that would have Ben much funner. And taking photos with them instead of standing in a long line to get one with the Charictor.
And polite pig is my favorite place to eat, at Disney Springs.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I think the plates are awesome, very creative, so it’s a you issue. I’ve been to WDW 5 years ago for my 50th bday and this next week for my 55th bday. I’m a huge Toy Story fan and I was able to snatch a reservation 2 days before I leave on my birthday. I don’t mind the price. The food looks amazing and I know I’ll love the experience.
Mustard based bbq is SC and vinegar/tomato based bbq is in NC.
For resort guest reservations you can basically book for your whole trip 60 days before the first day? I was always a little confused by the wording
60 days before your first day. At that time you can book all reservations for the entire length of your trip, if you are staying at a Disney resort. For good neighbor hotels and others, you can't book your entire trip at once. You have to do 60 days before each reservation you want.
Would be nice if they priced this for adult single, 2 adults, 2 adults and 1 kid etc. I can't justify the $45 for just myself. But it does look yummy!
to be fair, any 'sampling' dinner at a bbq joint is gonna run you 25-30 bucks, the extra 15-20 with unlimited seconds and the theming within Disney really isn't actually that bad, all things considered lol
Is there any way I can get the noise when changing topics and the whatnot on a video or something? I've been really wanting to make it my phone notification noise and can't find it :(
I think those ceramic plates that look like paper plates are cute I just can’t find them to buy
Disney messed up by not having a replica pizza planet restaurant
So cute 🥰!
9:08 My aunt actually is one of the people who makes to forty cupcakes, and I just found that out.
Hey, how does the family style dining work for a solo diner? (Goes for anyplace with this style of service.)
I'm guessing you still get the same number of courses and choices of items but smaller amounts of everything than what is shown for big groups.
You just get the serving for 2. It will be smaller than most other tables but you still get everything and if it's all you care to enjoy, you can still ask for refills. So if you want 4 portions of ribs, go for it!
Paper plates are a great idea think. Nothing says backyard bbq like paper plates
I'm just happy to be here.
I do not like barbecue so definitely a no for me. I’ll keep going to Brown Derby when at Studios. Looks like a really awesome restaurant though for theming.
Looks like a lot of fun but a lot to pay for just ok food. Question for those in the know please. Which bbq has the best food? Whispering canyon, Regal Eagle or Flame Tree? Or is there a better one I’ve missed?
We love Polite Pig in Disney Springs. For reference, we’re from Kansas City, where we can drive 5 minutes and hit 3 or 4 fantastic BBQ joints.
Polite Pig at the Springs
@@kimfurnell7902 Thanks. So I'm guessing the bar is set pretty high for your BBQ standards if there's lots available really near home. If that's the case, Polite Pig must be v good indeed
Anyone know….What were the drinks after peach tea?
Hot chocolate? gummy worm one? The others I can’t id at all.
Note: I don’t think the Brat was Impossible brand, it didn’t say that brand on menu and Impossible is Soy based -which it says for Soy Allergies. I think it is Beyond Brand, that’s the one I use and it looks like same one.
Thank you DFB:)
What happens if there’s one vegeterian in the party, or if there’s a family of picky eaters that wouldn’t eat every offering? Are there ways to sub out some of the all you care to to enjoy offerings??
I wouldn’t feel that hungry after the hot as a frying pan walk through Toy Story Land
I agree I think i would avoid this place , despite me would enjoy the food it’s the price seems to high for me (entertaining and quality must be balance + a reasonable price)
The most delicious I tasted was the faux paper plate. This is a new trend for Disney. At the Grand Flo Cafe they are serving food on bone China that’s made out of paper
Yeah, maybe when my kids were little and Toy Story movies were fresh we might try this once…now, don’t think so.
I'd like to but can't a ressie.
Those glasses are like jugs, huuuge. American portions 😂
Whispering Canyon is way better, for food and the price. It's actually only about $25 for lunch and it's EXACTLY the same food as dinner!
My big question is if it's only my husband and I, do I have to pay to sit down and buy 2 meals? It seems like they give you too much food...
Personally, I always avoid restaurants offering character dining. So I’ll be quite happy if this restaurant stays character-less. One less to dodge
I appreciate that you gave an honest review of this place! Looks great for the theme, but sounds like they may need to upgrade some food options to justify the price tag.
sooo there’s no ranch with the fried pickles?
This looks so cool!! It should be pizza place!!
I agree. BBQ is a really heavy meal when you’re at an amusement park. GOOD pizza would have been a lot of fun.
I agree. I really love Pizza port at Disneyland and a Toy Story themed Pizza place would have been too cool.
I’m gonna pay the money just for toy story, at least once. I’ve loved the movies since I was a kid. Now I’m a mother. And I want my kids to experience it with me. I’m guessing I won’t be the only one in this situation
Thats cute looking and i dig the fake paper plates 😅
My husband would love this but my son would not. I know you think BBQ is for picky eaters but I think the only thing on this menu that would work for my kid is Mac and Cheese and I'm not paying $25 for my kid to eat a few bites of mac.
It’s not bad but the “ Fall of the Bone ribs “ don’t exactly fall off the bone , the brisket is just ok , the chicken did have a nice smoke taste . But for a Disney restaurant it’s average . “ The Polite Pig “ in Disney Springs is a far better choice.
$45 for a characterless crowded meal? We’ll pass. Even with a 3 yr old Toy Story obsessed kid. She’s be disappointed not getting to see them. And endlessly ask where they are, adding to the park stress.
QUESTION: I have a trip coming up in July. We are staying in Copper Creek (I am a DVC member). If I want to book a dining reservation 60 days out, do I need the theme park reservation first? I do have the park passes…but I have no way of knowing what dining reservations I will be able to snag, so making a park reservation first seems risky. Any advice or clarity on this? Thank you for great vlogs!❤
You'll just need a park reservation when you go. You don't need it when you make a reservation not sure why aj said that. It doesn't ask on the app for that anywhere.
@@felvkitties8 thank you so much! That is what I thought but AJ did say something a bit different. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Have a good day!
@@WildNaturebyElizabeth unless something changed I don't know about. Don't forget if you are staying on site you can make all your dining reservations in one day for the whole trip. Put the hardest to get reservations at the end.
@@felvkitties8 oh that is smart! I am trying to get Space 220 but it’s always booked. Great tip! Thank you!!
They probably didn't incorporate the actual characters because of anticipation of low volume of workers during covid and miving forward. And as we know, people aren't working any more. It's better not to have had the characters than to have to remove them for no one employed.
Although the themeing is cute, I'm not a big Toy Story person to begin with. This will be a pass for me. I do want to try Flame Tree or Regal Eagle on my next trip.
I’ve been recommended this to replace Mickey’s backyard BBQ= what’s peoples opinion on this???
Do you happen to know if someone who's had gastric bypass can get the kid's price being portion sizes are the same or smaller than a child could eat ?
No they cannot. You will be charged adult portion.
@Elaine Hill oh that's a bummer! I feel like it wouldn't even be worth doing the sit-down meals for that price then. Thank you!
I'm from down south. Tough to beat the BBQ we have down here. But I think the theme sounds cute.
Toy story characters are not dining friendly
Too large, hard to see etc
Restaurant is too tight for them to go table to table
Would take toooooo long to dine due to size and character rotation
And worse
Would add $25-$30 to price to cover entertainment
Trust
Character dining isn’t coming to this place
25 years doing this work, so it’s easy to understand this
As I get older, copious amounts of food 'family style' is way too much, especially at $45 a pop! I'll go to the American pavilion in EPCOT for my fill of bar-be-que and save a bunch of money!
I love love love the theme! Love the immersive experience! But the food… I wish they had some kids food. I have picky kids and I just wish that they had some hotdogs or chicken tenders on the menu for those picky eaters or maybe some corn dogs because my kids will not eat anything on this menu so as much as I want to try this restaurant I never will be able to, my kids won’t even eat the macaroni and cheese because it’s not traditional macaroni and cheese…. Way too much meat and they weren’t thinking about the kids 😔 $25 per kid yeeeaaahhhh no thanks not when you have nothing for picky eaters besides a forky cupcake. My kids would probably cry if we ate here they would be wondering where their food was 😞
Most Disney CZcamsrs say it’s not that great. Maybe cause it’s new? Pretty sure they can do better.
At $45, no thank you. I can enjoy a much better meal on property.
