Nutria is good. It doesn't eat garbage or carry diseases. It lives in water and eats aquatic plants. The meat is lean and mild, like rabbit.

In Italy we have our rivers and creeks full of Nutrias, but everyone thinks that Nutrias smells bad, and it lives in the dirt so the meat is not good at all!! We used to kill Nutria just to prevent the damages in every river bank, cause they dig few holes inside the bank and we had a lot of problems!!!
I'm Italian (from Bologna) and it's actually very funny to see people hunting nutrias ahahah but I always thought they were good to eat!!! (Sorry for my rusty English!)
