Cheekface and producer Greg Cortez talk about making "It's Sorted" where the album was recorded at New Monkey Studio in Los Angeles Vinyl and merch houseshoes.online Tickets linktr.ee/cheekface
Been listening to Cheekface for years. One of my top favorite bands without a doubt, but I never seen any commentary or anything besides their music. They seem like a chill but charming bunch. Thanks for all the years of killer unassumingly deep music.
Life in a bag hit me so hard. Its one of those tracks that I think encapsulates the feeling of stagnation so strongly and I so appreciate the view it gives. It has the amazing groove of a song that just can't quit but its lyricism and its awareness really strike me. It really did stands as one of your most vulnerable tracks and I'm glad that feeling was reciprocated by the people who made it because I feel vulnerable listening to it. It's also just relentlessly fun. I grew a deeper appreciation for some of the tracks I didn't think much of from this commentary though. Thank you for doing this.
Found you guys through a Spotify shuffle a year or two ago (Best Life was the song that played). Been listening ever since. Thanks for sharing your creative process for (what I think is) your best project yet. Excited to see you guys in concert this summer!
Saw you guys in Philly after being a fan for a couple years now. Best show I've ever been to, and I'm not exaggerating. Seriously such a fun time and good tunes.
Thank you so much for everything you guys do. I was super overwhelmed on Sunday because of my college chemistry class that I'm taking after failing out of college the first time and I keep getting really discouraged by all the set backs that are inherent to a working class life, and when I saw that you guys had dropped the album that day I genuinely teared up out of happiness. It felt so comforting to have more silly, fun music that sees the world as it is but tries to find the absurdity in it all. Your work helps inspire me not just to keep trying with the day to day capitalist hellscape, but also inspires me to keep my passions and art at the front of my mind.
The 4th dude who's at the gigs with the moustache playing the keyboard "who was also in the new music video behind the bar", what's his status in the band?
The best to ever do it. I've thrown your name around to everyone on the local scene in central Illinois that I can think of. You guys are truly America's local band. Much love.
So awesome that you guys took the time to record this video and give us Cheekfreaks some wonderful insight! You guys are the absolute best! Can't wait for the NYC show!!!
Absolutely addicted to the new album - heartbroken I won't be able to see you guys in London later this year. But I'm piiiiinching my pennies to be able to afford the international shipping for the vinyl :D
Saw you guys open for Ozma. Last concert I attended before everything went to hell for a year and a half and it was highly memorable. Been digging you guys ever since, love the new record.
Plastic as track 10 is so genius honestly… I love the album ending on “Is there recycling?” “It’s sorted”, feels very full circle :3

Dude!@@cheekfacefactory9258
I love hearing people talk about their passions and protects this is so fun
Radical! Usually you gotta buy the thirty dollar blu-ray to get this kind of content 😎
We were so close to getting THE bongo album. In typical Cheekface fashion, I’m unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Popular 2 gives me big Weird Al vibes. I mean that as a compliment

Getting subtle Cake vibes with the cadence/guitar in Do My Thing, the trumpet in Grad School, and Life in a Bag as a whole. Love it.

Very much appreciate it! I'll catch you guys in Detroit in May!
The 4th dude who's at the gigs with the moustache playing the keyboard "who was also in the new music video behind the bar", what's his status in the band?
That’s Alex from Why Dogs Why!! He mostly just tours with Cheekface but I don’t think he plays on the recorded album at all :)
Fkuicgn love Why Dogs Why. If you've never listened, you really should...his music is real fun.
The best to ever do it. I've thrown your name around to everyone on the local scene in central Illinois that I can think of. You guys are truly America's local band. Much love.
This is definitely something I will rewatch too many times

BEAT HAPPENING MENTIONED
You guys are my fave band right now
Don't Stop Believing is wonderful
You just get better and better. Shout out to the weird gremlin who seems to be adding their own commentary to your commentary.
Does anyone else get waves of Weird Al in the choruses?
Team 'Anarchy in the UK' here. Anybody who hears anything else is wrong.
What is the robot voice at 20:35?
just an audio glitch lol
My guess is they're using a vocal cleanup plugin that tried "cleaning up" Greg's vocals creeping in from the playback audio in the studio. 😄
