Hey everybody I've been getting this question a lot in another video. So after some investigating I was annoyingly also getting the "Operation Could Not Be Completed" message while trying to download mods on Xbox One. I really hope this simple solution helps everybody, and I hope Bethesda does not do this again. Whatever happened....

HOW I FIXED MINE:
Could not open mods, got the "this operation could not be completed" message. Tried to just restart as the video said, but still wouldn't load. So, I Uninstalled F4 on my Xbox 1 and re-installed it. My "favorites" mods were saved, any downloaded mods deleted, DLC's came back after a quick re-download, as well as creation club stuff. Previous loads were saved as well, which I was nervous about, have a survival build with 11d and about 18hrs, which I did not want to lose, lol.

Me and my friends personally think that Bethesda shouldve realleased an only 4 player co-op mode In fallout 4 that friends or invited players could join you can still you use you own mods cause it's a private server it would be way more fun and enjoy cuz there is a story. Sorry if grammar is bad

This video didn't work for me.
What I did to fix this issue:
1.While in the Mod Menu- press the Xbox button on your controller
2. Go to Settings
3. Go to: Network> Network Settings> Go Offline
4. From the Settings screen Press "B" Back into your game (after a few seconds you will be booted from the mod menu to a screen that asks for your email)
5. Press the Xbox button again
6. Go to: Settings> Network> Network Settings> Go Online
7. From the Settings screen Press "B" Back into your game (it will most likely still be on that screen that asks for your email).
8. Wait a few seconds to let your network sync again and then Press "B" to Back out to the main menu for Fallout 4.
9. From the Fallout 4 main menu click on Mods
10. Find your mod and download
.........Enjoy.........
Let me know if this does not work for you. Hard reset may or may not be required

Update: for those of you who cannot get it to work try some of these methods individually-
Reset your router
Clear Xbox cache (do hard reset, wait for white light on power box to turn yellow, then unplug the plug from your power box and hit the power button 5 times. Plug back in and try again)
Go to mod menu, switch your gamer profile, then switch back to desired gamer profile
Go to settings> power&startup>turn off or restart>fullshutdown (this is an alternative to hard reset)
Go to settings>network>network settings>advanced settings>alternate MAC address>clear>restart (this is an alternative to clearing cache)
If none of these methods work for you try again at another time.

I tried, and just got a stock response suggesting fixes. I explained three or four times that I'd already tried that, but just kept getting the same stock response.
Somebody needs to tell Bethesda to fix this.

After that disaster next-gen update that deleted all my mods I can't even redownload one of my mods now and when I click on the mod I wanna redownload then I get that annoying message saying "The operation could not be completed" then it kicks me back to the main title menu

This is obviously on their end if everyone has this issue but deflect it back on us with their goofy troubleshooting page...that hasn't worked for me. They need to quit being lazy and set up their servers properly imho.
Yes I wish Bethesda would seriously fix this. I hate being THAT guy, you know? I mean I like trying to help people, but my honest commitment to that isn't working for everybody. :/
You already paid for the game. They could give two shits about a patch unless it has to do with making more room for Creation Crap
It's only since the last update, sometime in November I think it was. Never had a problem before... Suddenly people can't access mods for Skyrim or Fallout 4, and Bethesda have the nerve to blame it on us.
@@wilsonallender6334 They should care about making the "Creation Crap" work since it's paid DLC that isn't working. THIS is the reason they're being investigated+sued.
I finally got an email from a human at Bethesda Support... He wasn't very specific but he said they are currently working on a permanent patch for the bug. He didn't say when to expect it, but that it will be fixed soon.
Heres what i did to fix the issue:
I loaded the game (not signed into an account)
I signed into my account when it loaded
I pressed Y to switch profile and added guest
I loaded mods ( whilst signed into the guest account) the game crashed
It took me back to home like its supposed to do when a game crashes
I loaded the game back up
Switched profile back to my main account (dont sign out of the guest account just switch to main account)
I Loaded mods
Went to a mod pressed download and it worked.
If it didnt work u did it wrong cos i did this for my brother and it worked on his xbox too.
This is the only method that actually worked for me, thank you.

Nah its 100% Bethesda. Fallout 76 comes out and Skyrim + Fallout 4 has trouble with mods. Whether its because it's the game that's f-ing the servers up, or if they are trying to make us get Fallout 76, it's their fault.

@Thanos I literally had Fallout 76 for 2 hours then returned it to gamestop. I didn't even want to give it chance to resolve the bugs. It was barely a finished game.

Update! so if the hard reset does not work, yall have to delete all your reserved space reset the game and download your mods all over again but it works too

I had the same issue on my Xbox.
And I’m glad to say that I have figured it out in a much faster way. However you must have at least 1 mod on you Xbox..
Steps
1. Log in to fallout 4
2. Go into load order
3. Disable all mods ( no need to favorite them).
4. Remove your disc of you have one
5. Hard shut off your Xbox. (This can be achieved by holding the Xbox symbol on your console for 10 seconds)
6. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
7. Power your Xbox back up.
8.Put game back in. Go back to mods.
(At this point you should be able to download mods again. However this is only a partial fix. As the next time you log into the game and want tow download and mod, you will most likely get the same error message. So you will have to re preform the steps again.)
9. Once you have downloaded what you want, disable all mods again.
10. Hard restart your Xbox.
11. Power it back on. Log in to the mods. And enable all mods.
This should fix the issue like it did for me.Just remember that this is only a temporary fix. An you will more then likely have to preform these steps again if you get the same error message.
Clearing your reserved space does nothing except delete all of your mods actually. That was the first thing my buddy did and he still had the issue, but also couldn't play the game now bc all of his mods were gone :(

I've tweeted at Bethesda and Xbox multiple times about this but haven't gotten a response. Ever since 76 came out this has been happening. They are such a disaster.

Im getting it where i can't even go into the mod page when i click mods it say operation could not be complete and keeps me on the title screen
The hard reset in the video should help even if you can't get into the mod menu. Have you tried logging into Bethesda.net to make sure it's not an account thing? My friend told me there's a new update so that might be something too. 🤔

Saved my sanity
My method :
1)disable all mods
2) hard reset two times
3) enable all mods
4) cross your fingers
I found the fix. It works for me every time. Go to manage game and youll find that you have not one but TWO reserved spaces. a 2GB one (the correct one) and a smaller one. mine is 2.8 kb every time. And youre probably thinking "YES FINNALY" well hold your horses cause if you try to delete it it will come back...it always comes back. At first i had to do was delete it twice cause the first time ill come back right there and on the 2nd time itll go away. Now this might work you but occasionally ittle come back un invited. And if you get stuck in a loop of deleting it but it doesnt work so you try and try again, just delete it twice then hard reset and then just rinse and repeat till it works.

So I’ve found a way to get it to work on Xbox and I hope it works for you guys and it’s really simple. It’s already been shared by others first so if you find it anywhere else, give them a sub and like as they deserve it. But, at the main menu, press switch profile and add guest. Then go to mods and the game will crash. Reboot the game and sign back into your profile. Fixed. If not, idk but it surely worked for me and I guarantee I was just as frustrated if not more than you guys with this issue and was surfing all through videos and comments trying to find a fix for me as many others weren’t working.

Leave it to Xbox to make it a simple hard reset issue....Bought a new Xbox One X and ran into this setting everything up, had to reinstall my mods but at least fixed the issue, thanks man!
Someone in the comments said to clear your reserved space DO NOT DO THAT it deletes all your mods and it doesn't fix the problem so you cant even redownload your mods
I think some of these "alternate solutions" are troll methods.
It does help to load the game a lot faster since its not having to load the mods I kinda suggest a add card tho I may be wrong

Edit: It only worked for a bit. I've given up at this point, after trying multiple times. Really wanted to try some 4k Fallout but Bethesda...well, ya'll know.
Edit...again: If the video doesn't work; or(like it did for me) only works once but suddenly stops, there is a top comment that also worked for me. Going offline then online. You can also find other suggestions in the comments for that comment.
Thank you. Really. I've been spending hours trying to download mods with no success and then I found this.
I tried this method and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't so I tried something that someone here in the comments mentioned and that's to simply take the game out and put it back in and low and behold it worked. I hope Bethesda gets theres shit together with this. And I literally started to play fallout 4 a few days ago with mods on xbox cuz I always played the vanilla version. Holy shit is my mind blown. It's like playing a totally new game I love it. But maybe they're too busy with 76 to worry about "small issues" like this. The potential for greatness is there for 76 but I haven't touched it since I started to play FO4 with mods.
But if and when it gets fixed, I'm gonna be playing the game with all sorts different mods i love it. Already have an order I play with that I like. Love my custom animations, enhanced graphics, weather and blood effects. And the beautiful night galaxy sky dont get me started with realistic stars mod.
If there was a F04 mod that removes all human NPCs and adds like 30 free roaming human NPCs to act like fellow adventurers who don't use mics of course then boom we've got a FO76 copy. 🤣 honestly probably better since server issues wouldn't disrupt gameplay.

it only sometimes works for me too, the first time i hard reset it didn't work, so i just did it again and it worked good after that for only like 15 minutes though.
I deleted my “cache” or whatever you want to call it thinking that would work and give me a reason to reorganize my mods... but it didn’t. Let’s hope this does!

I've figured out ejecting the disk and reinserting will fix it temporarily...makes no sense but it allows me to download a few mods before the error pops up. Favorite your mods then try this.

Try the hard reset again.
unplug your xbox for Two minutes after a hard reset and see if that works
Kispy Penguin you could clear reserved data that’s works sometimes but you’ll have to redownload your mods again

This may only work ONE time, but do the following: Go to settings. Go to network. Then advanced settings. Now click clear mac addresse or whatever, the xbox should restart. After the reset, open up fallout 4 and download as much mods (Ones you had or want) as you can, as it may only work once.

yes but the more mods you add the more likely your game will crash lol xD i had so many mods on xbox one and the game kept crashing after a major lag spike and then after the next gen update all my mods i had downloaded were gone

this is still happening to me even after a month and nothing works for me 😞 they need to fix this already
One huge issue I have is when I’m installing a bug mod and it just stops installing, it won’t say operation couldn’t be completed it’ll just be stuck at a certain percent until I restart the download, or restart the game and it’ll keep happening
Bug fix mods are really tricky because they’re designed to imbed themselves into the vanilla code. Have you done a hard reset on your console?
I’ll tell you how I fixed mine
1.Log and take the Fallout 4 CD out
2.Put fallout 4 back in
3.Log in
4.And done try

the hard reset didn't work first try for me either, try doing it more than once then try installing mods.
My problem is that I can't even open the mods page, like, in the main menu I click over mods and it shows "the operation could not be completed" and I already reinitiated the console and also the game, I'm on a series S btw, can anybody tell me what to do? I've really tried everything I could to fix it

Found a fix sign into a guest acc and open mods it will crash then load back and go to your main and it should work

*PEOPLE I FOUND OUT HOW TO FIX IT* (*XBOX*)
1)Go to Fallout/Skyrim
2)Go to mods and go to a mod you want
3)Then SPAM download for 3-4secs
4)After spamming the download, *Quickly* go to Setting/Networks/Test NAT Type
5)Once test is complete, go back to game and hit download
(Then its should work!!!)
(If that doesn't work)
6)Quit out of Fallout/Skyrim and go to a different game
7)Repeat Steps 1-6
8) Keep doing this until it works (1-3 times)
90)Should work!!
*I recommend that you should download 3-5 mods at a time and back out and go back to mods*

This only fix it of one day which gets annoying
I sent in about 5 tickets and all responses told me to just turn the Xbox off and on again (which made me laugh so hard at the irony) and I responded to a ticket saying this is an issue that so many people seem to be experiencing and they told me “they’re working on it”. I dunno wtf they’re up to but they’re taking their sweet time in fixing it.
There was a supposed update that came out a few days ago, but I doubt it fixed this. I think it may have just added more Creation Club content that no one's going to be able to access. :/

However I ran in to the bug again last night and the reset did not work. So I just gave up on Skyrim for the evening... Anyone have an idea what's causing the error?

Pretty sure its an error on Bethesda's part. They got their head shoved up 76's ass right now, so they've neglected community mods.
You have to delete your reserved data

here's a new method I found out.
1. Stay in the Main Menu
2. Press the Xbox button on your controller, and go to the sign in tab
3. Add 2 guests
4. Go back to your main account
5. Load the Mod menu
6. Once it's loaded, go to settings, then go down to the network tab
7. Go offline
8. Go back by pressing B
9. Once your back to the mod menu don't do anything, wait for it to kick you out of the main menu of fallout 4. Should take a minute
10. The game will sign you of your account and it'll try to tell you to select an account
11. Select your account again
12. Once it's in the main menu go back to settings and go back online
13. Give the internet 1 minute to load up. then Load up the mod menu
And thats it. It worked for me.

This may or may not work depending, but this could fix your problem.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1: Go to the main menu
2: Press the X Box button on your controller and go to settings network>network settings>Go offline
3: once you go offline return back to the game and the mod and creation club tabs should be unavailable
4: Go back to settings and go online
5: Return back to the game
6: press the x box button again and go to your profile picture and select “switch profile”
7: Click your current profile you are using
After these steps the mod and creation club tabs should be highlighted again and you should be able to download mods. I hope this was helpful! Again it may or may not work but it worked for me so I figured I’d share my method.

Before you murder your Xbox please watch the video linked in the description. Unfortunately this is just a temporary fix because Bethesda's doing this crap on purpose. My mods ended up getting randomly deleted, so it might happen in future. :/
I was just trying to download the Harambe mod
I started the game while signed out and I signed into my account while at the main menu and it worked again.

This vid is two years old, people mentioning that this started occuring when Fallout 76 released..I NEVER had this problem, but it's June 8th 2021 right now and it started occuring today, nothing's work, hard resetting, disabling all my mods, everything..I'm going to try deleted the reserved space of my mods, unfortunately, but if that doesn't work neither then I don't know what will, I fucking hate Bethesda because they don't bother to fix their goddamned games for once, it's irritating and infuriating as hell

@@Foofighter288 legitimately. In all honesty I just hope they die out and pass their shit to another team. As much as I love their work, it's all just falling apart and it's getting worse the longer they try and excuse it. Their decisions always baffle me and then most of their ideas or pieces do not work.
@@Foofighter288 hey so earlier today I just decided to leave it alone and not mess with it, so I decided to play Arkham Knight hoping not playing fallout would just fix it by itself, before that though I checked my Skyrim and it was also having the same issue..but I don't know if it's just a me issue or a current server problem..after playing Arkham Knight for like an hour I decided to get on Fallout 4 again and I could access mods again except the pictures/thumbnails were not loading, I turn off my Xbox, get back on AND NOW I CAN'T ACCESS THE MOD MENU AGAIN, I'm on the verge of just taking the disc out and snapping it in two lmao
My system wont do a hard reset, I've tried 5 times now and it just wont do it..
It has to at some point. You're the master not the machine!
I don't know if you are having the same issue still, but if you completely unplug the Xbox for 20 seconds, that WILL do it. You cleared the cache. So...if it's still not working, then hard reset won't fix the issue.
So I’ve come across a way that fixes it for me (I’m on the One X) about 80% of the time lol.
If I load my save and get in game, then back out to the main menu.. Sometimes I can download mods again.
It seems to be at random, you’ll either hit or miss. Just play and try again later, or restart your game a few times.
Like I said, doesn’t work 100% of the time.. But it’s progress.
Best advice would be once it works, take your time and download all the mods you want so you don’t have to worry about it.

I think I found a (sort of) fix, what you want to do is load up fallout 4 like normal then go to mods like normal and just leave the game for about 5-10 mins or just browse mods for 10 minutes. This seems to work 9/10 times for me

Dude I love you so much for this. I thought it was a load of shit but it worked. Was trying to download start me up and it wasn't working. Did this and it the game loaded up right away and the mod download almost instantly. Your a fallout life saver brother.
This did help, I mean I just deleted and downloaded everything and still was crapping out, I couldn't even get my cc stuff back. Thanks gonna try this when I get home

What i can confirm is that none of these work for skyrim , but it is almost guaranteed to work for skyrim if you reset your router .

What's very telling to me about this glitch is it didn't happen until the most recent update came out for the game...so whatever is causing this, its cause of Bethesda probably...cause I didn't have this problem until that update came out
FIXED IT FOR ME!!!!!!!!
Get to the main menu, not the mod page or creation club. Sign in as a guest, sign out your main profile, this should crash your game. Restart the game, sign back in as your profile (not guest), and load the mods page or creation club. You should now be able to download stuff.
I like how this sounds like it would fix a problem with the Xbox itself but it’s just for a stupid issue in a gsme
What works for me Everytime:
1: Go to mods, Try (doesn't work)
2: Exit n Quit Game
3: Sign into different Account/made after the debacle
5: Download you mods
6: Thank me
This is not working for ps4.
My total mods are 35.96MB, and the ONLY way I could bypass the "operation could not be completed" is to DELETE a mod (I have exactly 32 mods total) and download another...
*I think for me at least, this has to do with number of mods? I just confirmed that I cannot pass 32 mods. And they don't seem related to size I delete a mod that is almost 3 mb and a mod that is barely 1 mb and no difference*

I'm really sorry I can't help you more. I'm not familiar with the PS4 version of the game. All I've heard is that Bethesda really screwed up with the modding system in that version. Can't say for sure since I've never played it on there.
I just signed out, got back into fallout, and signed in as fast as I could until it crashed. I went back to the main menu and signed in, I downloaded a random mod to see if it worked and it did. If this doesn't work for anyone, then this might have been a lucky shot sort of deal, since I got it on the first try.

All I do is; when at the mod I'm trying to download, hold down the xbox button on the controller, turn off console, turn console back on by holding the xbox button on the controller. Download mods with no problem. It works every time for me. Just don't quit the game and when you turn the xbox back on it will go straight back to the mod and you can download mods properly.
If you start playing the game and decide to go back to get more mods you will (most likely) need to repeat the process.

Used this for Skyrim. Maybe it has something to do with the RAM, or the way the machine processes storage. Either way it was a pain in the ass, as I had an issue signing in after and had to reset my connection. BUT I am installing my mods, so I liked the video and gave a sub.

I found another way that worked for me is quitting the game and clearing persistent storage a couple times and then go back into fallout and mods should work again
When I download a mod and I have enough space it still says not enough free space to download this mod
you cant use last 28/30 mb
