- Since the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers have been the best defensive team in the NBA, and a big component in that has been the addition of Jarred Vanderbilt's versatility.

It's crazy what he does for the Lakers. I had no Idea who he was before the trade but his impact became obvious the second we got him.
One of those guys who can change a game entirely without producing anything on the box score.
This is what Lebron can do if you are playing on his team. Pro is you well be known by alot but if you didnt play good you will ruin your career.
Exactly! A masterpiece at D. Yeh, one of those guys sittin on another's bench with skill out the caboose waiting for his moment. And here he is. 👌🏾👏🏽💯🔥
Casual
You have no idea because youre a Laker fan and thus by definition a casual.
I think him being paired with AD allows him to shine even more. That's a scary defensive duo honestly for opposing teams.
Wanna know just how scary? 99.7 rating as a duo, best frontcourt defensive rating since the deadline
@@ragewayz900 😊😊😊Z xxx😊😊
Absolutely
Literally Vando covers the whole perimeter and AD covers the paint. And both of them covers the entire backcourt. With Schroeder or even Reaves can do for the frontcourt.
This dude is literally teleporting non-stop. Amazing!
Vanderbilt and Davis are the leagues best defensive duo’s arguably best perimeter and post defenders in the league. Thing is lebron covers Vanderbilt defensive weakness, when he and lebron on the floor lebron will take the heavier forwards allowing vando focus on the lighter quicker scorers.
that sequence against the pelicans early on is insane.
Yeah awesome 🔥❤
Jarred Vanderbilt one underrated player this season 🔥🔥🔥
Man once he came to the lakers I was so excited because I seen him play good defense when he was on the t wolves and the jazz. He was a good player but didn’t get enough playing time with those teams. Glad that he’s starting for us now and getting his playing time much deserved
He's my favorite pickup from the trade deadline, even tho he's not as helpful offensive like D'Lo or Hachimura. Pairing him with AD makes a lot harder for opponents to move the ball and score.
Him and Cam reddish in the passing lanes together sheesh
He is a Legit deffender because of how he raise his hand to avoid foul contacts
that ability to contest defense from one to another is exhausted but he still has stamina 🔥
Vando is amazing, and a perfect compliment to AD defensively. And even though LeBron isn’t the defender he used to be, I think he’ll compliment Vando perfectly as well. LeBron has more bricks in his back pocket so he could guard some of the solid players like a Julius Randle or more traditional power forwards. LeBron could even take the pressure off AD and guarding nonskilled Centers who like to bang because Lebron is still probably the strongest out of all 3. imagine a lineup that has JV, AD, Bron, TBJ, and maybe Shroeder. That’s elite defensive lineup. I’d still like to have a second skilled big like Tristan Thompson in case we run into bigger teams like Philly or Milwaukee in the finals
Lakers did pick up Tristan Thompson
I agree with your take and I also agree with you tho, LeBron isn’t the defender he used to be but his defensive IQ is being overlooked nowadays, Vando and AD are a very scary defensive duo as vando covers the perimeter while AD protects the rim and the paint, LeBron can use his defensive IQ to tell both of the guys where to go and where to stay
Wing defenders are one of the underrated yet valuable pieces to every good team. Going in depth on what makes them special to the team helps me as an undersized forward.
HE IS A DIAMOND IN THE RUFF KEEP HIM AT ALL COSTS ❤
4y/48m, wish come true lmao
He's very important to my Lakers on the defensive end, so glad he was extended on his contract last week.
The best defenders ever always play defense this way .
This was fantastic. Keep up the good work!
Bruh him, Herb Jones, and Ausar are literally unreal to watch on defense these tall ass wings are moving like guards on defense
Rob Pelinka finally did his job lmao. A+ trade deadline moves, but the Lakers are still losing a couple games that they should be winning :(. I hope they're good enough to make the play-in so we see LeBron come back by playoff time. If they're the 7th or 8th seed, whoever has to go against a healthy Lakers is gonna have their work cut out for them
They’re going to the 6th seed and play against the Kings in the 1st round
@@user-fz7ji1fx5l yea bro im so hype if thats their first round matchup they can def beat sacramento. as long as they stay healthy, and also, they gotta beat the clippers tonite. this is a huge game bc theyre both tied rn. hopefully lebron and ad play even tho its the 2nd game of a b2b :)
Do a cam reddish defensive video he’s been very impressive on that end of the floor wouldn’t be surprised if he leads the league in deflections. all nba defense!
Man the Wolves fucked up big time trading this dude. They could've had him, McDaniels and Walker Kessler on the same squad they would lock down so many teams. But as a Laker fan I'm so glad they did lmao
I cant wait to see him, Bron and AD locking down in the playoffs.
He has a crazy wide wingspan 7ft
He deserve a ring next with LeBron AD..
He would make a great defensive back covering receivers just the why he can quickly open up his hips and stay with men.
Excellent sex worker too.
JVB is a menace for any of his opponent and he is simply the stealer, the interceptor and the Stopper/Blocker..
Dang that one highlight showed Vando working his tail off while AR just stood near the paint doing absolutely nothing the entire time!!! Wow
Shows just how much he does defensively.
Shush AR HIM
Good breakdown
Vanderbilt should watch this informative video.
He play defense like a college basketball player and a high school varsity player. Also he has quick reflex something you born with quick instinct this a type person you hide behind the door to scare and he end up hitting you that's how quick his reflex is, before his brain signal to move he already moving.
Good breakdown. Vanderbilt is elite wing defender but he has no shot and that constraint teams offensive side
I don't get why Wolves and Jazz let him go
The Lakers got a gem
Was thinking the same.
He has his weaknesses like this video pointed out..his offense is non-existent & he is not bulky so can’t stop big players & cannot shot block like AD
He needs to put on 15 lbs and at least develop a go to shot before he can stay on the court more than 20 minutes a game. I was a big fan when he was with the wolves but he was always a liability offensively. It worked ok because Towns could play on the perimeter but because neither are shot blockers or good offensive rebounders they were a liability as a duo. Especially as it concerns interior defense. It's working OK now because AD has range and can be a shot blocker at times.
I do see he's put on some weight and it does look like he's developing his jump shot and a baby runner. If he can do more of that he's a top tier role player.
@@Vajra1021 every player has a weakness. What are you saying? He’s literally the best on ball defender as a big man in the league.
@@ANTDOG480 I said exactly what you are saying ..read my comment ..”every player has weaknesses” including Vando & every player has edges ..which is why basketball 🏀 is about matchups
weirdly reminds me of a big man thybulle
Modern day Rodman!
He's gonna be paired with AD in the WCF to guard Jokic for sure
Vandalorian!
Great vid
Appreciate it!
If he can bother and defend Steph Curry in round 2 then he's a top 3 defender in the NBA today
湖人能得到他真是太棒啦!It's great that the Lakers got him!
Just saw him against GSW. Great player to watch
He can guard star players like booker, curry, Edwards in their past games. Very defensive.
Lakers scouting got the W on this one.
Man I hope Jarace Walker is watching his film
Vandy is an NFL lockdown posing as a NBA forward
Vanderbilt makes lakers better
Lol rusty said when he got traded he was gonna pop off the screen for fans. He was 100% right he would have never gotten this kind of attention on the wolves
Vander is best
best offensive rebounder in the NBA without a doubt despite his size
I mean, with a moving screen like that, who could possibly get around it? 3:14
King of Defense
if Vando can fr keep up the amazing defense he’s played on Curry, then Lakers win the series in 4-6. Bro don’t even need to score just be a defensive demon all game, Lakers better resign this man.
HE MAKE DEFENSE WITHOUT BRAGGING LIKE DRAYMOND GREEN
Who is a better defender? Vanderbilt or Jaden McDaniels?
McDaniels without much difficulty imo, just an all-world point of attack defender with so much versatility, not limited to any role.
@@HoopVenue Ah damn. Isn't that what Vando is as well tho?
Mcdaniels can't guard 1-5 position vando is better
Lakers are filled with ballers hope they can make a deep run and maybe win it all with a another historic lebron finals run
He is like Scottie Pippen without the offense
nahh he more like Rodman
@@jcbill967 I agree, Rodman. But with more speed.
Apparently he was labeled a point forward at one point?
GSW they have drey, Lakers have vando, every team needs defensive player not just offensive player....
Jaylen Brown your next video Hoop Venue 🙏🙏🙏
I already did one on him very recently!
Is Vando a t10 non-big defender in ur eyes? If yes what’s his range
I haven't actually made a list, but just ballparking it I'd imagine he's in the back-end of that top 10, or just outside of it.
Can maybe see him as high as 6?
Rodman wit offense

He can't guard big forwards that's hits only weakness on defense m
Yea Julius randle/jaren Jackson gave him problems. He’s a 1-3 guy. Lebron can guard most of the ground bound big forwards.
@@jamesjones11301994 that's why they have ad and LeBron for that. But they are most likely going to spend their energy on offense, which is why the lakers badly needed a defensive center right now for certain matchups in the playoffs (jokic, zubac, sabonis). Wish they still have Howard or Mcgee from the 2020 team
@@deixis6979 AD defensive gravity in the paint is so great that Jared's weakness is covered, tho Lakers could still use Lebron in the post for defense, LJ is an low-key good defender in the post. JV can cover most of the perimeter, and lockdown while they can use DLO wingspan and defensive iq for passing lanes. Idk the only defensive hole that they got is the 2, which is beasly.. but if there's reaves or Dennis they could fill the gap.
Anthony Davis can do that.
@@chez1756 it's not low-key; I think most people are aware that LeBron's weaknesses as a defender have to do with his idling motor at his age, and being able to stay in one place and be a brick wall is an ideal defensive assignment for him due to his size.
