    Excellent! Love it. Very interesting, and very instructive. It's fascinating how the pilots on the D and CCC wings did better, on average. 😅 I think I can guess why.

    • @annejanroeleveld
      @annejanroeleveld  Před 26 dny +1

      Yes, that's true. In most competitions, pilots with CCC gliders have less impressive starts.

    why not lower start altitude? i mean. so much thermical action and no one lower the starting position. This might help bc. @ lower position = wind might also be lower.

      You even saw some pilots start much lower and thus having less problems

    after the initial bloopers, most managed quite nicely in fact :) I wouldn't call it unsafe conditions, but one could wonder if you can make a good and safe task in such conditions around Grand Bornand.

    • @TheGrundigg
      @TheGrundigg Před 9 dny +1

      The problem with most competitors is that they are not actually that experienced. They might fly a lot of hours but not a lot of years and they just jump onto those CCC gliders while never really doing proper ground handling time. It's an ego overload unfortunately. That's why you get so many mid air collisions and terriffic take offs.

      Weinig cobra starts inderdaad. Het kan op zich wel maar veel piloten lopen niet mee omhoog / waren niet door de knieën gegaan voor de start. Bij zo'n stevige wind start ik zelf altijd iets lager op de helling. Dan heb je de ruimte om omhoog te lopen en de energie eruit te halen.
