Wow what a fun live jam, all excellent players, and quite a speedy tempo on such a tricky chord progression as All the Things You Are. Plus is that the wonderful French chanteuse Cyrille Aimée in front there recording the guys? How cool is all that!

    Merci.

I heard the main theme in denouement, agree that too many notes pollute the music, alas that’s the spirit of competition and the goal for a jam, to contribute your variation.

It is so easy to allow your guitar playing to be the subject of your ego and vanity, Just because you can play fast and show the world your technical skills, it does not mean that you should jump on the bandwagon and do this at every opportunity. Respect for the composition, and the composer should always be paramount in the manner in which you address a melody and in particular a melody as beautiful and meaningful as the tune " All The Things You Are ". I magine if every tune was played at breakneck speed, and the only reason for that tempo was to show the world how fast you can play, it reduces music making to a race against time instead of making Art with music. If the Django Reinhardt composition " Nuages" were to be played at 250 beats per minute, the unspoken but widely understood message of Django's composition would be lost in the flurry of meaningless notes, played with an insensitive brutality, in contrast to the way that it should be played. For this reason, I avoid the impromtu jam sessions at Samois, Fontainebleu , and Samoreau, there are too many big egos for my liking, and not enough delicacy, poise, lyricism, or respect, fuelled no doubt by egocentricity. Sad that Djangos music has been purloined by guitar pirates who have little sense of good taste in music or anything else.

I get it dude, but there are hundreds of recordings of this song that will suit your taste. this is just a late night jam..... I think you are being a bit snobby here.

Your ego is big enough to spend time writing this 😅

Suddenly the world is full of guitar players each of them vying for an original voice in music, all of them with nothing new to say, except the hackneyed tripe that is the currency of today's Django Reinhardt fans, and some of them with opinions based on superficial knowledge of the genre and closed loop improvisation, going round and round in ever faster decreasing circles.

Next time round come over and we’ll have a bottle to our liking, Tony, and a go at it ‘old school’. My lot is twenty yards down across the lane. Cheers mate!

They’re having fun. No reason to get the Fun Police involved.
