I don't think DP are playing Belfast (ironic as Simon McBride is from there!) so it is great to see the band perform one of my favourite songs off the fantastic new album so flawlessly! Deep Purple are on a roll. I hope they record a new album soon as I love the classic sound they have rediscovered.
Yes, and Purple did produce some fine sounds with Steve. Simon though has a more blues guitar background which is very compatible with the band and his relative youth and Irish influences (like Gary Moore, who had a more aggressive style of playing) have rejuvenated DP. This new album is up there with their best. It's tight, melodic, driving, unpredictable, beautifully structured, upbeat, and highlights the strengths of all the band members. Personally, I can't wait for them to release new material.
