Alone on KELLY FLATS - One of Northern Colorado's Toughest Trails in a Stock Jeep - Trail Ride

- After work last week, I took a solo trip out to Kelly Flats with the intentions of traversing through the entire trail, alone, before sundown. Kelly Flats is considered a difficult off-road trail in Northern Colorado's Larimer County that will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat...or about to fall out of it when climbing up Heart Attack Hill! This is one of my most favorite trails I have ever been on and there are many different lines to choose from on almost every obstacle, making this trail worth visiting over and over again. Test your skills by making your way through this 10 mile gauntlet of steep hill climbs, deep ruts, off camber terrain, and nonstop rock crawling.
If that isn't enough for you, those with purpose built rock crawling machines can take on the Chutes, where you WILL rub and scrape against the walls making your way over gigantic boulders.
Yeah, this trail has everything. One of the BEST off road trails in Colorado!

Very cool video! I appreciate the camera angles outside the jeep, I know it’s a lot of work doing that. Amazing what a stock Jeep can do. I did a few Colorado trails in my bone stock Jeep Willys when I first got it. I recommend having a Garmin In reach or some kind of satellite sos capability if you’re wheeling alone. It saved me once! I also suggest taking the tow hitch out before getting on trail. You have a new subscriber here, and I’m looking forward to more vids! Keep it up!

Knowing the trail, having self recovery gear, seat time, and letting people know where you'll be all help keep you safe when wheeling alone 🫡
Suggestion: when you go off road, consider removing the trailer hitch for much improved departure angle. You'll also want an air compressor whose power wires clamp directly to the battery terminals, and which has a 100% duty cycle, so it won't overheat on you. Although a bit bulky, Thor's Lightning (on Amazon) looks like a decent value. To what tire pressure did you air down?
100% ! Thank you for the suggestions. If you watch my latest video, you'll see that I now have 2 new air compressors, both which are up for the task. Coming from the east coast, I was always airing up at an offroad park either using one of the airing stations, or mooching off a friend. Definitely realizing things I should have done a while ago when wheeling alone out here now!

Can you show some of the other trails in that area? Would be super helpful! I come once or twice a year for work.....did Kelly Flats last year, and there was another trail that started right near the end of Kelly Flats.....before you get to Glen Echo....but was closed last year. THANKS!!
I will definitely be conducting more trail rides of the trails out here West of Fort Collins! The one you're speaking of is Sevenmile Creek, the forest service still has this closed actually. Was originally closed due to fire damage, then erosion work was being done on the trail, among some other things I've been hearing. I will not be able to do a video on until it's reopened which might be this fall, or maybe even next year.
