How to start using petrol engine in Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid (Emergency Use Only)

- This is almost similar to get 99 lives revealing a cheat code if you played a game before.
This tips how to start Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid with petrol engine and run the vehicle with petrol instead of hybrid battery.
Following steps are:
1. When car on stationary off.
2. Press Start button twice.
3. Full step in the break.
4. Full step in the accelerate pedal twice.
5. Full step in the break pedal and hold it.
6. Swift the gear from P mode to N mode (revised).
7. Let go the break pedal.
8. Full step in the accelerate pedal twice.
9. Full step in the break pedal and hold it.
10. Swift the gear from N mode to P mode (revised).
11. Let go the break pedal.
12. Full step in the accelerate pedal twice.
13. Full step in the break pedal and hold it.
14. Press Start button once.
This will start Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid with petrol engine always, like normal car.
Do this only for emergency purposes only, not recommended for daily driving.

Actually this is called Emissions Mode, its to test the emissions of the engine
This worked on my 2022 Tucson Hybrid too. Nice.
Does it still try to charge the battery when driving in the mode?
very simple and useful if you are in a hurry...(ironic!)
I think it is easier to full step and hold on the accelerate pedal

It won’t stay on this way. You have to follow this procedure to make the engine stay on.
This is not how you property do it I mean can do this if you want but it will take quite a while just press the break pedal press the button keep holding the break then put it in what mode you want and that is it 😊

number 6 above says switch from park to drive, but in your video you say shift from park to neutral. which is correct?

Never counter like that before, try the same code method again, see if that reverse back? Otherwise you might need to check with your dealership. Just tell them have the icon car blinking. Don't tell them what you did it.

Leave it of long enough for the relays to dissipate. Like one minute or so.

VW GTE: Press and hold brake pedal and accelerator, press the start button and release the accelerator. 🤷🏻♂️
So why didn’t the head engineer who came over from VW to KIA design it this l way as well.

When your hybrid battery is very low or unable to regenerative.
what’s the effect is this method is used exclusively? will it damage the hybrid components or causes higher petrol consumption?
Right now there is no know what is the effect. Since this is only for alternative work around for emergency purpose.
But there's NO STARTER motor to start the engine. Only the electric motor can start first and then it engages the wet clutch as needed to start the gasoline engine.
Since there is NO starter on the gasoline engine it cannot Ever be started first or alone.
Why would you even make a deceptive video like this??
All you have to do is look under the car and see that there's NO starter.
I have a 2017 Ioniq HEV and it has a 240v starter generator right on top of the motor when I pop the hood.. there's another motor next to the transmission. Also these use dry clutches
According to another video, the alternator doubles as the starter motor (yes that means it's belt driven)
It doesn't work.
I finished the process and the car shows "Check Hybrid system"
And turnes off the car.
What Year your ioniq hybrid? And do you have 12v battery in the boot?

I replace the water pump and inverter now it very good

Doesn’t stay on that way. It charges up the battery and shuts off. We use this for diagnostic procedures. Not for driving.
If the battery is low, the computer will start engine and you don't need to worry.
If the battery is dead, The engine won't start at all!
Not true, it will charge the battery to 60% and cut off if you are in park.
