Our Lady of Light Band / Banda Nossa Senhora da Luz of Fall River, MA playing "BOMBASTO", a very fast and entertaining march, at its 40th anniversary. www.myspace.com/ourladyoflightband
This is so hard...even for 2nd clarinet. I started studying this today in band and later in the piece is a high F written. Hardest piece I have played so far. These guys make it sound easy.
Sweet! The type of march that keeps your trombone and baritone players busy!!! Muito bem executado. Como sempre BNSDL ao maior nivel! Cumprimentos e abraços a todos principalmente ao grande Maestro Canito!
well its not the trombone section playing hard its the baritones....im the 1st trombone and the section actually plays this quite well. we have 7 tubas, 5 present in the video, and you can hear them just fine...maybe its just the recording but live sometimes its even too much bass. i do agree with the tempo issues though...but as i say, not bad for an amateur band!
@omgyoureaspy tubas play just as big a role a trombones and baritones with all the chromatic runs and stuff..it must be his speakers cuz i hear the tubas just fine :)
It wasn't horrible, but I thought there was room for improvement, honestly. Some of the low brass sections are playing a little harshly in a few spots, and I heard a few tonality issues. Phrasing was generally nice, and high winds sounded pretty good, overall. One relatively major thing I noticed was the tempo issue (there wasn't one person watching the conductor the entire time the song was being played lol). Again, it wasn't bad. Just constructive criticism.
I'm sorry to say the Trombone section needs to be cleaned up. They're playing WAY to hard. My lips hurt just listening to them. Everybody seems to do what they want after the introduction tempo wise. No one is watching the conductor. Were there any Tubas at all? I didn't hear any. Balance down to them guys. If you can't hear the tubas, you're playing too loud. Oh how I miss being in the marching band...
The musicians do a fine job but the tempo is too fast. I realize that marches played at a concert are often played faster than when played on parade, but this tempo goes too far. Was it presented as a circus "Screamer"? Even if that is the case, I think it moves too fast for the musicians and the audience to fully enjoy.
This is a Screamer march, but I agree its too fast. Trust me I bitch about it lol.. I'm one of the 1st Clarinet players in this Video. Jesus this is old lol.. No excuses for the quality, def room for improvement, but the camera recording sucks for audio, and the room we are playing in suck for acoustics as well, so that didnt help lol.. Wish we had more recent stuff up. Last month we just performed at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in DC for the John Philip Sousa Festival.

Bombasto. March piece in the NDBD band favorite during fiestas and diana, circa 73

The posture is a little suspect, but the piece was played wonderfully, so i'm not complaining!!! Fantastic.
