- Grade 4A with Pipe Major Warren Haggerty and backing band:Craig Allott (lead guitar), Matt Ward (drums), Chris Hewton (bass), Jason Schmidt (rhythm guitar) and Brendon Burgess (keyboard).
This is the theme from my favorite move, "Local Hero". This performance is only topped by Mark Knopfler, himself. Beautiful job. Can't believe there are any thumbs downs.

Just so honoured to live in the same era as Mark Knopfler. Never heard "Local Hero" played in this way. Just incredible. Sent shivers down spine. Would love to know what Mark thinks of this
Simply beautiful music.
I learned this tune, Mark Knopfler's "Going Home", (the theme tune from the film 'Local Hero' ) to play solo on the pipes, after being given a DVD of a previous Invercargill concert, when I was in Australia in 2009. Great tune on the pipes ! Thanks Invercargill - well played - great concerts !
Love this. Love them. Love him. Here's how I discovered Mark: my husband loves bagpipes. Four years ago, he was scrolling through bagpipes here on You Tube. I caught sight of a title, Royal Scots Regiment, featuring Mark Knopfler. I said, Knopfler, I know that name. I began playing Mark. Not a day since (hardly) that I don't listen to him. I have half his CDs, I'm working on the rest.
Such a beautiful tune, and the film Local Hero is a wee bit of a tear jerker at the end . Filmed in the Highlands of Scotland .Burt Lancaster was one of the cast .

I mean the music was good but the audio quality was some of the worst I've ever heard especially with the crackling and over exposure. Also why are are you using underscore instead of spacebar

Love this tune, always have, well done Invercargill, (mums) home town and family still live there, My youngest born in Winton Maternity Hospital 6 years ago, although North islander born and bred I consider myself a Southlander by heart so always interested in Invercargills great band, if someone does have some written music for the pipes for this tune I would gratefully love to receive a copy as I am not experienced enough to learn something by ear yet, still getting there, cheers for the great recording..loved it

"Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779, with words written by the English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton (1725-1807).
Newton wrote the words from personal experience. He grew up without
any particular religious conviction, but his life's path was formed by a
variety of twists and coincidences that were often put into motion by
his recalcitrant insubordination. He was pressed (conscripted) into service in the Royal Navy, and after leaving the service, he became involved in the Atlantic slave trade. In 1748, a violent storm battered his vessel off the coast of County Donegal, Ireland, so severely that he called out to God for mercy, a moment that marked his spiritual conversion. He invited Gerry Rafferty
to be the lead vocalist on the song, "The Way It Always Starts". In
2000, Rafferty invited Knopfler to provide rhythm guitar and lead fills
on what would be his final studio album, Another World.
ronald mcdonald Knopfler was born in Glasgow, he took Dvorak's No. 9 Symphony (New World - Largo) and rearranged it for the end title theme "Going Home". The lyrics to Dvorak's Largo was written by an American.

You know how to find sheet music for bagpipes?
There are some attempts online you can find, first two lines are right then with some tweaking you can work it out. Play along with it took me a couple of weeks but you'll sort it out.

Steffiluren: Seriously?! The bagpipes are what make the song what it actually is! This song was meant for bagpipes. It's a Celtic/Scottish piece of music. I have no Idea what you're talking about mate. Cheers.
