Actually if you dig into the really raw underbelly of French hardcore, you find the REALLY NASTY MECHANICAL sounding shit. and brother it can be fucking GLORIOUS. Mouse and No Name are 2 of my all time eternal favourites. but yea your right as time goes on everything sounds like its made by a bunch of fucking limp wristed little pussies....seems like 1994-1999 was some of the very best years...

french hardcore was great, from laurent ho to early micropoint, manu le malin and others.
somehow sad that the same micropoint went on to become one of the forefathers of frenchcore.
yeah for me the 90s were the best years, too, maybe even until about 2004 or so. prime example for me is the third movement label, was so great with early rude awakening, xaphan, dep affect, armageddon project, peaky pounder and n-vitral releases. but boy did it go down when for example n-vitral went from the smoogh release to bink bonk bunk or whatever the name was.
so yeah, i stick with the old stuff and went over to rhythmic noise with winterkälte, geistform etc in later years.
