Alberto Balsalm this is not true. EDM today refers to pop (commercial MTV - avicii, hardwell , guetta etc) dance music. it is a genre by itself. if you would say EDM and Psytrance is electronic music, for that definition i would agree.
01:38 is for me maybe the deepest and powerful melody ever. The bassline and the keybord is simply out of this fucking world for real. I love this music, Gouryella is unique.
It's not dead at all. Gouryella is playing a set in Sydney and Melbourne the next few days in front of 10s of thousands. It may not be played on stations commercially but it is farrrr from dead...

I was born in 84 and had the good fortune of being exposed to this kind of music as a teen. When this "Gouryella - Tenshi" came along, it determined my world. Such futuristic yet relatable music piece, bringing together the hopes for the future and the realization that technology had evolved so that all that could be accomplished. All this realized in this single track. Honestly, I'm 37 now, but I don't think trance since then has ever felt this way,
I remember seeing this tune on The Box as a kid. Everyone in the house already asleep and I was watching this in a almost dark livingroom. Goosebumps and strong emotions I felt. Good times.
Trance has never lost its magic, the feeling and the energy. Listening to this makes you want to reach out and go for life more then ever! So full of energy, I still love it when I am 90 and might even play it at my funeral... enough sad stuff in the world :D Love Gouryella to come back !!!!!
FIFA 2002 was where I first heard this. One of my favourite trance songs and I never get bored of it. Happens to be the song that got me all into trance as well!
14 years later...omg the exact same, FIFA 2002, this song got me into trance at somewhere around the age of 12. I would sit there and listen to it, immersed and mesmerized by this track. Also, on FIFA that I loved was Tiesto - Flight 643, and the Schiller - Ruhe Remix by Humate
everything about this video, the melody, the rhythm, the graphics in the video, just makes me want to live my life permanently at the turn of the millennium. the greatest couple of years in history.
One day I was devastated and couldn't even move, leaning forward on a couch. Then, this song played on my computer and I really felt saved by an angel or tenshi. Thanks Gouryella.
Fifa 2002 is the reason how I got into trance music. Now look where I am. 4000+ subscribers & releasing trance every week! Thank you Fifa 2002 for showing me what real music is.
Also happened to me...FIFA 2002 is what got me into this kind of music...back when I was 10!!! And this is now my way of life and the only real passion I have...even though I don't produce or release any kind of tracks, it is the music I would like to be listening to at any moment of my day...Trance 4 Ever
Just four years after Ray Kurzweil proclaimed the notion of technological singularity, Gouryella brilliantly portrayed the technological singularity with this music.
The main melody was taken from Vangelis - Light and Shadow. Beautiful interpretation by ferry and tiesto. It's 2020 and I still love listening to it :) It's really a trance classic.
+Jacob Groz all the time better since its debut...For me this is the Trance Anthem... There are another great classics but this 1...ohhh this 1 is so huge..
This track came out 21 years ago. A baby born around the time this track was released (September 2000) is pretty much now reached the legal drinking age. For me, I was 2 years old when this track came out. I was born around the end of June in 1998, so the first few years of my life, Trance was pretty much the big genre taking over the dance scene. People really believed that this was the future of music, probably as a whole. Nowadays, it's pretty much a bunch of cheesy commercial stuff like House, Trap, etc. occupying the crown of the most popular EDM genre, at least at this period of time. Now in all honesty, I really don't mind the cheesy stuff we have now, but in all honesty, I believe the best genre's of EDM are Trance, Hardstyle, Techno and Dubstep. IMO, those genres can truly define what the future of music can truly be capable of. That, or maybe I'm just saying those 4 genres are the more superior over the current ones we have now.
A massive Trance tune, when Trance was Trance. So many memories. I'm in my 40's now and i'll never get fed up of listening to this. Bring trance back i say!
This is my favorite track ever. As many other people, I encountered this track because of FIFA 2002. I rediscovered it 2 years ago and ever since it has been printed in my soul and I expect it to be a companion in the long run. I also think that the video was very prescient about how life would be in the future with data and machine-made decisions. This track means to me the direction where mankind leads to as well as the challenges that shall come. This is Gods hint to future (I'm not religious, but if there is a god, this track is his melody pointing out to future and to the magnificent). Gouryella is the best. Perhaps the greatest trance tune ever... Ferry Corsten is so amazing. As humanity perceives and understands such powerful knowledge, a meaningful wiser intellectual evolution develops and grows. To you, What is knowledge?
That progression starting around 1:53 is fucking magical. It's G, Em, C, Em... but in particular that C is just the most awestricken thing. Fuck me, it's so good.

I've always prefer Ferry's style of trance over tiesto. It hasn't changed since 2005 when I first started listening to trance nor will it change in the future. Go Ferry!
Trance has lost it's magic. Tracks like this is purely what trance was meant to be in my mind. When someone asks you what trance is, this is a prime example of trance. Oscar Santiago Serrano Herrera too bad its all dead and on top is stupid EDM i am now after psytrance

chichudox that’s because the melody is originally vangelis - dark and light. Awesome composer
chichudox reminiscent of chord changes and melodies in classical music, don’t you think?:)
TekFreq and Vangelis definitely ripped some of those chord changes and melodies from the long dead composers of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
Yes!👍

Just because the mainstream media is shunning trance doesn't mean it's dead !!
EVILIMPERIALISM23 yeah, that's dubstep. Easy confusion, occasionally both at 140 bpm, both have hi-hats
Alex Jones no, dubstep and trance are totally different, dubstep is usually at 70 bpm and they sound only barely similar.
The memories. Used to love this so much in Fifa 2002.
mike b Calm the fuck down. Without the video game, no one would even have heard of this song.
Actually, the video game would have boosted the popularity of the song.

The origins came from: Vangelis - Light and Shadow
Awesome!
Love this tune. Little known fact: This uses the tune from Light and Shadow by Vangelis from the 1492: Conquest of Paradise soundtrack ;)
