I think of constitutionalist the same way as I think of a religious fundamentalist. Its implies there is only one, black and white, way to read the constitution (or Bible/religious text). Yet we know that there are hundreds of religious denominations that are divided in large part in their interpretation of said religious texts. The reason the Supreme Court exists at all is specifically because there willl be cases where the constitution is not black and white and the rights of two parties come into conflict with eachother. This is also why there are multiple justices and not just one. It is good to have diversity of thought in these circumstances. That being said, it doesn’t mean that it can’t be or isn’t already a corrupted institution.
