That's a really point that I hadn't considered that all of the songs wholly, partly or entirely in native languages qualified in a televote only semi except for Latvia. Yes this is good.
I'd love to see Ireland's JESC team get a shot at the adult show next year. They hit a huge home run with Sophie Lennon and Solas last year, which was my favorite song in Yerevan. She even got 4th place while dealing with a throat infection. RTE just has their heads in the sand, which is a massive downer.
I think Switzerland will do very well with the juries on Saturday - perhaps better than a lot of people are expecting. That first half is stacked and I'd actually be quite surprised if one of the big hitters doesn't open the show. The Dutch song never really had much momentum and as much as I wanted the song in the final, I didn't expect it to go through.
Glad you enjoyed yourself. It was a good reaction. I will be like that this saturday, especially now that my country (Norway) qualified.
I know you were not much of a fan of Croatia, and that's fine, not for everyone, but I must say, I voted for Croatia. Why? Not because the song is melodically or vocally perfect, but it's the Eurovision circus I live and breath for, plus it's a huge F U to war, which I think is great.
Portugal for me was the clear winner when it comes to performance. So much charisma, so much energy and amazing vocals.
And ofcourse, Norway. For the first time in my life I did not worry about our qualification. However ... Once 8 countries had been called up and we still missed Norway I started getting my heart in my throat. I was scared. And IF THEY had said another country at the end than Norway I'm sure I'd have a heart attack. I started hyperventilating, shaking and nearly fainted. I managed to call my mum while in that state and she got worried, I said I just needed to breath and that this was NOT OK. They should of just said Norway earlier and I'd be fine lol.
I got 9/10 right. I just failed with Moldova, and placed Latvia instead due to the performance and that I felt Moldova missed that little "oomph" in the performance, but both were like a 50/50. same with Malta actually. Had no faith in Ireland or the Netherlands. Also, I thought it was a bit stupid during the playbacks when it came to Israel. Every other country had singing parts, but Israel? Nooo. They needed to have a bloody dance break lol.
I 100% agree with you. Brooke was robbed. That is the saddest moment of Eurovision 2022. I feel like Ireland was cursed after they sent Dustin the Turkey, and most people had started to forget it, and Ireland nearly broke the curse, but what did they do last night? They prolonged the curse.
