One thing that makes Meta Knight's fights keep you on your toes is the way he keeps his distance from you. Commonly found in the GBA/DS fights, (Including Nightmare in Dreamland/Adventure and Super Star (Ultra), he would enter a certain "phase", in which he would always stay a certain distance from you; You approach and he backs up, try to retreat and he follows. The moment he actually decides to attack (seems in my experience) is randomized, which means you can never really predict when he'll come after you. Coupled with his small hitbox, quick speed, and large anti-airs, and you got yourselves an intense fight on your hands, something Star Allies horribly butchered down on. As a side note, they didn't really give Meta Knight a backwards walking animation, which means they they just use his regular walking one, which makes it look really weird and hilarious when he's moonwalking backwards.
Yeah, it looks so silly. Modern games made it so they backdash away, which I'm fine with, but then Star Allies added that ridiculous "stance" thing, which made him so sluggish and slow.
That's a different stance, the one where he blocks is when he just puts his guard up. The stance I'm referring to is when he shuffles like one inch back and forth from you. It makes him look more like a swordfighter, yeah, but it locks him in that position while you can get free hits on him.

But the fights were never with malicious intent, it always turned out that this figure was testing our hero, making sure they could handle whatever greater threat they had to face. Only once did he attempt grander goals - aspirations of "whipping Dream Land into shape" with an aggressive takeover heralding the maiden voyage of the iconic Airship Halberd. But it was then he truly saw the overwhelming force Kirby could muster, his mighty flying fortress torn to smoldering smithereens before it even crossed the ocean. He's even been unmasked a few times, revealing a strange likeness to our hero - but even now, their relation to each other is unknown. Nowadays, this powerful swordsman seems to have... mellowed out following many defeats at the hands of Kirby. Perhaps they realize there's no longer a need to test them (and that antagonizing them further is probably a bad idea). Now he's happy to enjoy reading in the shade of a tree, or have a crepe or two while keeping an eye on things from the skies of Dream Land, well aware its pink protector is more than capable of keeping things as they should. But rumor has it that this warrior still dreams of great battles, clashing swords with an adversary where they can hold nothing back... (Another fantastic remix - this one is a theme I haven't heard nearly enough as of late...!)
I simply adore this theme, and this remix doesn't disappoint, keeping the sort of intense energy that's fitting in a fight with Dreamland's greatest Knight. It's a shame that this theme is always overshadowed by Revenge of Meta Knight...
i sincerely hate the premiere function; by the time something premieres, i'd've already forgotten about it. i wish you'd just release videos when they're done without forcing a 2-5 day wait time
Analytics shows that doing this builds more anticipation as well as building an audience to a rewarded expectational product. This also give me enough time to work on the next song for next Monday. Addictive consistency, the fact that you want more now, just shows that it works. ☺️

With the Halberd falling out of the sky, Kirby quickly storms the bridge. Not even The Knight's highest ranking followers can stop him. Upon entering the control room, he is given a sword. Even when The Knight has lost everything, he fights with honor. Now comes the final clash for Dreamland!
Something I remember about the Super Star Meta Knight boss is how the length of time between his idling/walking and attacking would shorten the lower his health got. I would actually like to play against a modified version of this boss where that time span is as short as it gets from start to finish. In other words, Meta Knight behaves like his health is really low from the start of the fight to the final hit. It would make the battle more challenging and more intense! EDIT: I just remembered that Meta Knight's walking speed increases the lower his health gets as well.
Okay so I'm very late to the party, but jesus, this has got to be the BEST, and I mean THE BEST Meta Knight remix I've ever heard. This pixelated soundfont used throughout the song, and the way it sounds so menacing, it really gives you this feeling of "You're fighting someone who knows way more than you do."
I've never really been that big of a fan of Meta Knight's battle theme, which is a shame because Meta Knight is my favorite fictional character (not just video games, all of fiction). You did a good job cleaning it up from Super Star's mid-90's quality sound card, though

There’s something about Meta Knight’s battle theme that gets me pumped. Confronting the mysterious warrior, as the Halberd falls apart. The music tells you that you’re not fighting some ordinary opponent... this is a formidable knight who takes you on with everything he’s got.

@@xkingiii6573 The reason I did that actually is due to the placement of the sun and the moon. You see at 10am where i am and in California 6am would be sunrise. In Japan it would be around 10p. The point of all this, majority of the world will be awake while the moon is in the big chunk of the Pacific ocean. But that's all slowly changing due to analytics. So somewhere within the near future I might change the release time

The moonwalking thing was bypassed by the way they made his sprite stance in Super Star. Subsequent games had no excuse though, lol.
