  • A vlog where I discuss whether the Aprilia RS 125 is a good commuter for me. The short answer is yes however, there are things I would tweak to make it perfect.
    I recorded this vlog a little while ago, my GoPro is still broken and it now wont record for longer than 10 seconds....

    two stroke reliability is good if you maintain them, e.g. change the piston at the recommended mileage intervals.

    The rs 125 is a great fun bike to ride but not a good commuter, the top end needs new rings every 2000 miles their engines a fairly week, And two stroke road bikes are not unreliable that's a myth, their only unreliable when they have an unreliable owner

    • @jamestattersall2387
      @jamestattersall2387 Před 4 lety +2

      Mine could go 10,000 miles between rings. Maybe 2000 if it’s been seriously tuned

    • @bve7397

      Rings? Just change the entire cylinder kit

    • @johnkeen4325

      No need to change the rings every 2,000 miles, just run in then

    A good sport bike, but a terrible commuter. It’s toatally unrespondable under 7k rpm, drinks more than a car, and uncomfortable to ride for a long time and bad for city driving. But it has nice looks wide enough tires, is big enough, handles well, and it’s not that unreliable for a 2-stroke, at least the older models. And it’s very cheap at least in my country

    i loved my aprillia to death it was such a good bike for a 125 looks more like a 400! my only issue was been a 2 stroke i could never trust it so never really went far. apart from that its a fantastic bike

    • @RossRS
      @RossRS  Před 8 lety +3

      Same with me, it's a bit too dodgy to take on a long ride. If I ever do go on a trip I normally take a load of tools with me ;)

      I went on a 1200 km ride with mine, brought 2 extra spark plugs, did not have to swap once. Other than that, if i stay under 6000 rpm the fuel consumption is fairly good, i made sure to map out fuel stations before i left though ;)

    If you’re buying a 125cc bike and plan to keep it for 2.5 years before moving up. Would u get the yamaha yzf r125 or aprilia rs125.im 18 turning 19 in half a year and Im planning to keep the same 125cc bike when holding the A2 license till im old enough to buy a 600cc. Im worried I’ll get over a 4 stroke 125cc too quickly and will want more power. What do you think?

    • @RossRS
      @RossRS  Před 5 lety +1

    Love your bike, I have a YZF R125, but want something faster , would you recommend this bike? also where would you recommend to look for buying one? as don’t want to buy one that’s about to blow up lol

    • @RossRS
      @RossRS  Před 6 lety +1

      sam macca The RS is one of the quickest 125s you can get. I would definitely recommend one however, as you said you need to ensure it has been well looked after. I got mine off Gumtree, just make sure you view it beforehand.

    • @h.l.69
      @h.l.69 Před 6 lety +2

      sam macca man two strokes are great bikes but id rather buy a bigger fourstroke than a twostroke 125 if you want to go faster and this is why. People allways say that twostrokes can be reliable whitch is true but not if you want to have fun and go fast, restricted bikes dont wear out super fast but when you ad power (since you wanted more speed) they start to really need fuel, oil and wearing parts more. The beauty of twostrokes 125 and above is that you really dont get bored of em, as soon as that rpm hits the sweet spot the thing will feel like a rocket. But really listen to me when i say that 2 stroke is a thing past,. How ever if you are not old enough to get anything above 125 with your license for example, then for sure twostroke is a good deal for a year or a two. But really 125 is nothing compared to a lets say 600's the feeling and all, 125 is not worth buying for riding fast because no matter what top tuned 154cc twosmoker you get they wont still be that fast in comparison in my opinion. I Still have my Yamaha Tzr and its a blast to ride (still), and even tho i have never needed to fix it and it hasent had any problems, it is kinda expensive to fuel up +oil witch is why i dont ride it anymore and soon it will be sold.

    I have a KTM rc 125 it does 90 mpg which is amazing, it is 4 stroke but it hits about 83mph on the flat. What do you think of the riding style of the RS? The RC aces your wrists on a long ride which is like 75 Miles+
