Sean and Flip are going to be a Dominant 1-2 punch in the Paint. Jared, Caled, and Proctor also look really polished in terms of their shot creating abilities and court vision.
Flip is a lot more explosive and Reeves looks serviceable for spot minutes. Holy shooters spacing the floor is going to give nightmares for every team Duke faces. Didn’t see Mark Mitchell but he’s in practice gear must be a precaution or something. One thing I see most is when a starter goes to the bench I don’t see that much drop off to the next man. One thing Duke has lacked for years consistent quality bench play
People will watch this and be wowed by the skill and speed of the freshman guards and wonder where Blakes fits in. Mark it down that in some early conference road game, his toughness will be what saves us a la Goldwire, Tyler Thornton, etc etc.
I don't think I've seen a Duke this deep ever. Maybe doesn't have the top end talent as prior teams but overall roster, bigs and guards seem very solid.
They looked that good and Mark Mitchell didn't even play. Caleb Foster looks like future NBA guard the build and swagger is there 6'4 lead guard is exactly what Duke needs. Guard play is gonna be amazing .
When I watched the early practice videos last year I said that Young was one of the 3 best players on the team at that point. People said I was crazy and didn’t know ball. Turns out I was right. Proctor got better and Lively got healthy as the season progressed but Young was consistent. After watching this I’m confident saying Reeves should be starting at C. It would free up Young to back up both positions and would allow Stewart to get good minutes as well. But Reeves size, defensive presence around the rim and activity around the rim on Offense will be a life raft for the team when they have off nights shooting the ball. Aside from that, Caleb Foster looks really confident scoring from 3 levels and should be a huge piece off the bench. And Flip looks ready to dominate and content for a NPOY award.
I think Ryan is only suited to play the 5 unless he starts hitting 3’s with consistency. Can’t have that lame clogged up with him AND Reeves. Like your post though
Reeves looked good at times in the practice footage from last year and Countdown to Craziness but then the game was too fast for him once the real season got started. Hopefully the game has slowed down for him because he does have great size and length. That said I saw at Oak Hill and he is quite foul prone. I am guessing he will have an inconsistent year but hopefully with more positive ups then down.
@@Username2521hhI think so too. It would be nice if Reeves could play 20 min a game at the 5 with flip getting 10-15 in a smaller lineup and Young logging the other 5-10. If Flip plays than many at the 5 and 20-25 at the 4 that provides Stewart with a solid 10-15 minutes off the bench with Mitchell logging some time at the 4 as well. With those 5 guys I think they’ll have enough depth up front to deal with some of the bigger teams they face.

I feel like Roach came back with the understanding that he’s not guaranteed a starting spot, cause as it is now I want that spot to go to McCain, cause Proctor is starting at point guard no matter what. McCain at the two, and I hope Jon puts Foster at the three for a three guard lineup, Mitchell at the 4 and Flip at the 5. Roach, Schutte, Power, Stewart, and Reeves/ Young is a great 2nd unit. Certain guys on this team are going to prove themselves and earn minutes but man we are deep. I hope the top 8 guys all get around the same amount of minutes, just have fresh legs at all times. Jon is about to have a fun year coaching, this team has so many possible lineups.
As a St.Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos fan this year has sucked I need my Blue Devils to straighten things out for me hahahaha can not wait for this season. Definitely see a Final 4 in sight as long as no injuries
I think Schutt can be a good player but with all the depth in the backcourt minutes might not be easy to come by. Proctor, Roach, and 2 freshman are going to get a lot of burn this year.
This is starting to look like the Duke teams from the 2000s that can flat out shoot the ball. But with such good guard play and Flip they’re not a “live and die by the 3” team

We should definitely play atleast 10 maybe even 11 deep. Reeves is like a Pogo stick... Lively Jr looks lk out there. More time on teh court he can definitely give serviceable minutes at the 5
Freshman 4 are elite. 2nd year players look amazing and that’s without Mitchell. Jeremy has to play off ball and lead. Ryan is going to be amazing in this system this year. Reeves will be needed. With this special group, I smell 6.
@@robertbradshaw1880 I kinda agree although Reeves did show some improvement and seemed more confident probably he has bulked up quite a bit. Experience-wise, Ryan is better suited to start before Reeves IMO. We should be better this year compared to last year more balance enough front court rotation back court handling shooting capability if we can hit FT well as a team then we should be super this year chances are much higher to get to Phoenix. I think this video verified that seeing as all he did was consistently finish around the rim. Every game he got into last season he immediately grabbed a rebound and got a bucket and he looked way more comfortable scoring in the post than Lively did. He’s clearly bulked up some more this year and I think he’s going to have a very productive season.
1.I saw two ill advised turnovers by a senior who outside of 3 games in March 22 has been mediocre. 2. Flip is going to be a beast this year 3. Reaves not getting playing time this year would be criminal. 4. Blake's should be the last name called off the bench. Once he 🛑 playing last year we won 10 straight 5. McCain, Proctor, Schutt, Foster are elite guards 6. Are shooting is going to be much better this year 7. Mitchell wasn't even playing!!!! Imagine when he's back! 8. Please don't let Roach have the ball in his hands crunch time March 2024!!!! 9. Young is a solid rebounder and has great foot work. 10. Power is lights out from 3. 11. Only two weak links on the team Numbers 2, 3. If we can keep them in check the trophy is ours

Why didnt Mark play? Is he ok? Secondly, the offense looked decent.. those 1 handed passes across their chest is going to be a turnover with a good defense. I hope thats addressed.. and more importantly from what i observed , our on the ball perimeter defenses MUST be much better. Both teams let player's get into the Lane WAY too easy. Those are going to be alleyopp dunks, or weak side kickouts for a 3pt.. I we are a much better defensive team then that. I didnt see one guy get a block call or when a hip check when they got beat.. Dukies have got to be better on that..nwe have the athletes. And experience to get this done.. Lastly... when we dribble.. dribble with a purpose, not just to go east and west.. Duke has Tremendous talent.. Attention Coaches.. i believe in you... ive watched every single one of you play.. You know emphasizing the little things are a big thing for SUCCESS!!! LETS DO IT!!! LOL.

Always remember your best defense is how bad your opponents offense is, and your best offense will depend on how bad your opponents defense is... Lastly work on a low block((mid) area) curl screen play for bigs, I believe the Lakers did it in the bubble. It's really hard to stop...
The freshmen guards look really good for it being pre-season. Also can tell how Flip's quicker and more athletic post-surgery
