I went to Shreya Ghoshal’s concert last year in Melbourne, and the audience ripped through seats and reached to the barriers. I was a meter away from her and watched, heard, recorded and admired her so much. I love her so much.

those vocals which were sung really fast is called the SARGAM in indian classical music, these are just 7 notes (SA RE GA MA PA DHA NI) sung with different intensities and mixing just like in the west you have DO RE MI FA SO......
this song is just an absolute masterpiece the vocals of Shreya Ghoshal and MG Sreekumar, the sargam the instruments, the ghungroo (anklets) ringing, wow just a pure classical play of vocals and instruments

So what you were reacting to is called alapana - a way for carnatic music singers to improvise on the melody of the song that they are singing. If you manage to get a video with a dancer accompanying this alapana I am sure you will be even more mesmerized. To my western brothers and sisters I guess it would a similar concept to rock bands improvising on stage except that they dont necessarily improvise the melody on a song that they already have, but the concept remains the same!

SHE is an icon and a generational talent. Her vocal precision and control of pitch is insane. She sounds exactly like the studio version live. Most Indian singers do actually. Everyone mostly has a strong classical training background and so they have vocal precision/control and great tones, unlike all the auto-tuned artists out West (ofc there's exceptions but more are mediocre than great) vs. in the East most are great and only a few are mediocre.
She is a trained Hindustani classical singer. She is the melody queen of bollywood! Extremely talented and lovely human being!🙌😇🙏🏻
This song was from a horror movie back in 2000s. Recently in 2022, a sequel for this film got released with the male character instead of the female one in the earlier one. So there is a male version of this exact same song but sung in a different mood by ARIJIT. You should check that out as well.

This particular song is a basically a dance performed by a royal dancer and her lover and they are openly expressing their feelings via this song infront of the king who is interested in the dancer unknown to her.
