Even the test grounds look like New Mexico.
the animators visited the base, they totally enjoyed creating the references for the new edwards
This is still one of the best fight scenes in mecha anime surpassed only by the final episode's dogfight.
I agree completely. That dogfight is what I'm looking for right now. The range of emotions you experience during it... I always use it as my example to the younguns of what good classic anime looks like. I've never had anyone come back to me with any other reaction other than, "what happened to modern anime?"
One of the greatest anime ever.
I remember buying all the VHS tapes of this OVA and eagerly waiting for Volume 4 when I was in junior high. If Top Gun was an anime and had mecha in it, it would be Macross Plus.
Seems like forever ago but yes me to brother......0083, 0080, and macross plus were always in my VCR.
This was almost like the movie Stealth, with the advanced fighters and the struggle with manned vs. unmanned fighters being at stake.
"I won't include the 21st [finger]" is probably an all time great burn
Its awesome they left the credits in. Many of those people worked really hard to make this.
Yup, I would watch the credits just for the ending song, especially for the first three episodes.
You know it’s a serious fight when you run out of ammo, so you resort to using your gun like a club.
Well, the Vf-11 Thunderbolt had a bayonet. I bet Isamu wished he still had that gunpod.
I just want to point out that this series predicted Bluetooth earbuds. The series was released in 94. The first true commercially available earbuds was in 2015.
Jessie why am I in an anime ?
My favorite throwaway line in anything has to be when they both report that they are cutting coms and ATC just says "oh my God, they are going to fight"
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Back when anime showed late night on the movie channel and Starz.
Isamu: "Guld get to the YF-21"
Also when Guld is fighting Isamu "OHHH MY GOD!"
I remember when I first started buying this series on VHS, I had the first two tapes and after this scene I was begging Suncoast video to let me know when the last two were coming and it took nearly a year for it to happen.
This series reignited my passion for Robotech/Macross that continues to this day. This series would make a great story for a live-action movie.
This is the moment Walt became anime.
Yoko kanno
These hilarious comments taught me Bryan Cranston voiced dubs back in the day!!!!
I remebered the anime store just received shipment from Japan, I bought the DVD sets right away, that niye called all my friends had a huge movie night surround sound all was mesmerized the entire movie
Gorgeous animation
That ED is just incredible 😍 So powerful! My favorite from the OST
what a future-feel ending song
This was one of my first anime when I was a kid and my brother bought these on VHS, I never knew Bryan Cranston was in this lol.
the feeling of...
Excellent! Still good!
They were the first to do “to be continue” with an epic sounding song before JoJo 😄
should be more like this.
Genius
HA! 21st finger.
Yang sleeps tonight 321 🐧 airplane
so did top gun really inspire macross plus
Inspired by the ATF program which lead to the development of the F-22 Raptor
@@bryfunkenstein i meant the overall synopsis storyline not a specific aviation jet,why would u presume that? thats weird
@@asshole4good the story was inspired by those test in the 90s against the F-22 and the F-23. It WAS. It has been said that the love story was something that could have worked anywhere...but it's against the background of the test...which was inspired by real world events
Some of the style of Top Gun inspired Macross Plus, but it happens that some of SDF Macross also inspired Top Gun.
And if we look at certain scenes from Top Gun 2: Maverick, the circle of inspiration is complete, as there are scenes literally copied frame by frame.
es tan realista que hasta el mecha trasmite la resistencia al joystick del operador, el control se pone bien duro😆
WANNA START WW3?! BE MY GUEST!
Thank you for the upload. This world is so disgusting and pointless there is no reason to live
Back when Bryan Cranston did anime. Now it's Giancarlo Esposito's turn by voicing Faraday in the Cyberpunk anime.
I think he was known as Lee Stone back then. I could be wrong.
@@user-ox7vk2tv5v You're right. I remember that from elsewhere, some long time ago.
