Fruit trees and berry bushes will definitely help you in your quest to be food independent. And add value to your property.
dont think fruit trees add value as the same as a abandoned orchard bring up value when selling it! its kinda like his truck its not practical to have a hellcat truck might as well just get a hellcat ...
Retired Real Estate Appraiser here. Fruit trees and berry bushes do not add value to one’s property. It might add desirability, but not value. However, if you are selling the fruit and berries (and keep records, have a tax ID and such) then it’s possible that the income value of the property would increase provided that the land is appropriately zoned.
My Dad built his own House In the Country. He has a rainwater holding tank and catches It. No solar power. He's a smart guy. Owns the Home, and only pays property taxes and electric. I don't ever use my CZcams channel other than to watch videos, but I have to go there Later anyways, I'll make you a video and tag you. He's about to be 74 In July. 🎉

Hey Nate I'm sure you have ac in your room and living quarters but why not kill two birds with one stone add on to your equipment cooling room or build a whole Nother one with a little more headspace room for a couple chairs and a table, If the AC steady running anyway why not have a little cool off spot to sit and chill during the hot summer months

One question. Why don't you put out one of those kiddie pools for the ducks? Ducks love swimming and it will keep them closer to home. Granted, you have to buy a new one every year, but worth the small exoense.

I just want a vacation hanging out with Jen for a week. Can’t do it, I have a ferret, and I’m her only caregiver, and I would spend the entire week looking for her. But camping, cooking, critters, and gardening are my souls bandaids. I imagine my tent set up at the edge of the lawn, getting up before the sun with a cold beer, watching the sun rise, and having a great day “all hands on deck” taking care of business. I’ll feed it, water it, weed it, play with it, train it, grow it, pick it, cook it, serve it, clean up after it, can it, and just talk non-stop, because I like talking. I have a little dog, minion size, but much fatter. Shes a chiweenie, and eats too much, but she’s loyal, well trained and well behaved. The ferret keeps me home, because she’s too smart for her own good. ( if she thinks she can, she will. If she does, she will never forget, and she’ll do it again), so, even though I have loving family, a week with Lily the ferret is too much to ask of a busy, dynamic family. Still, I live vicariously through your videos, Nate.

Hi Nate, I'm new to your channel, but have you ever thought about doing meat rabbits?
I'm not sure bit I think maybe they are. I am concerned about that because it would draw predators. I'm not positive though, just know they bought a couple rabbit cages. Knowing Nate, they could be for something else entirely. Lol
@aunt_b3365 it's definitely possible. With his livestock dog, I wouldn't be too concerned about preditors, but the more prey you have around, the more preditors are willing to risk it
