Vulcans always appeared lanky and slow during maneuvers because they look more like poorly performing fighters (i.e. much smaller aircraft), but in reality, they are farther away and much bigger than the observer realized. That greater distance feeds that illusion. They weren't fighters of course, but held their own with the best of it's era...which started almost 70 years ago...I salute you, Avro Vulcan. I'm on the other side of the pond, and we still have our B-52's with lot's of newer model bombers thrown in. Damn fine plane as well, not as cool looking as the V, but just as loud and you didn't want to be underneath it at crunch time. It did its job well, too, and still does.
Howl yes , very good ! A barrel roll would have brought "Mr Side Slip " out to play due to lack of air speed and pushing the envelope between making the crowd happy or falling from the sky in a gentle roll before big fireball and no more ice cream sales !!!
Actually, incorrect. The Vulcan bomber is more than capable of flying a barrel roll, so much so that test pilot Roland "Roly" Falk was given a dressing down from his CO for flying maneuvers unbecoming of a bomber, or words to that effect. And to be clear, you don't have to trust the word of some random youtube commenter on that, search youtube for "air show vulcan rolls at farnborough", Roland Falk was caught on camera in the 50s rolling it at Farnborough airshow... it's black and white, and a bit grainy, but you can clearly see an Avro Vulcan barrel rolling, and not falling from the sky into a fireball. No, the big problem, and the reason they've not done it in recent times is structural stress on the airframe, while it can do it the stresses involved would shorten the life of the airframe, plus the CAA are boring and tend not to like stuff like that.
that is correct because he shouldn't of done it and he always wore a suit to fly. I think that's when it smashed all the glass in the warehouse roof and if you ever heard it fly you could totally understand how that happened. the noise in real life gave you goosebumps.
Apparently in October 2015 the CAA investigated whether she performed a barrel roll over Grantham, just before she was grounded. She wasn't flying an air show but was photographed.
Incorrect I’m afraid the Vulcan was rolled on more than one occasion most notably at the 1955 Farnborough air show, you can find clips of this on CZcams easily enough.
Barrel roll???? Like..... I can understand people misinterpreting a deep wingover as a barrel roll.... but...... this was literally just a turn..... didn't even reach 90 degrees of bank....
Not a barrel roll, just a steeply banked turn.
The most beautiful object ever crafted by human hands.

I must have missed that barrel roll!
I have been I one that must be terrifying
That barrel roll was so rare I did t see it.
Barrel roll only ever happened in a Vulcan once and that, I believe was on a test flight with Roly Falk. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

yes but I think it was passed as not a barrel roll because it was as he was turning or the footage wasnt good enough proof
