  • Formula 1 is BACK in China with a great strategic race in Shanghai. It was great to see the drivers racing around this track once again with the home hero of Zhou Guanyu experiencing his first home grand prix.

It's not so much the mistake he made looking at the apex in a safety car situation towards a sharp corner, it's more that he put the blame on Ricciardo in front of him. It show's you don't understand you have to look to the guy in front of you and slow down sooner. Everyone makes mistakes but when you refuse to learn from it your a rich kid again who's daddy insures his stay and backs up his son no matter what. Oh well what do you expect from the top 1%.

I strongly disagree that Alonso overused his tires at the start. Besides the first few corners when Alonso passed Perez on the outside, he did not fight Perez and did everything to minimize tire slip. The Aston Martin just burns through tires worse than any car on the grid and does not have any race pace compared to the McLaren and Ferrari.

The only reason why Checo was not able to catch & pass Lando was because of excessive tire wear he wasted, catching & passing Charles. Had Max been in Checo's position, after his pit stop, he would have pushed, almost flat out, to pass Charles asap, then 'real in' Lando & pass asap. After that, prudent tire management would have got him home in P2.
