Dam, I feel bad for all the pros that've been doing this since Splatoon 1 came out, now all that hard work (and years) just got wasted all because of some stupidly strict Japanese gambling laws
So apparently this is them trying to self-regulate against strict Japanese gambling laws(Particularly, the Amusement Business Act), and the rest of the world got slapped with it, too. Damn.
Common awful nintendo moment. They cant stand when people pirate games they make unavailable, make tournaments they refuse to run or make accessible, refuse to allow online mods for old games because they refuse to create them themselves, and refuse to allow OST uploads even though they fail to upload the OSTs themselves. What a garbage company. Props to the devs for being good at game making, but christ the top dogs there are a cancer
this is awful for those pro players and i feel bad for them. hopefully the people find some way to get around this somehow because splatoon is worth fighting for
