The author did the right move honestly, Hyotei at that time was just soo popular and Atobe I think always dominated the top 10 PoT character rankings same goes for Hyotei at School Rankings. Just imagine if Prince of Tennis released today, many more fans would go wild for Atobe and Hyotei. Plus they just have the best team chant/cheer in this series.
