She is currently the Women's Basketball Coach at Cal State - Coach K from Duke coached the US team for years w/o additional pay. It was more of an Honor. The WNBA has nothing to do with the Olympics. Completely different Association. Olympic Athletes are not paid for their participation in the Olympics. They rely on donations and sponsorship deals.

Listening to her talk, compared to Reeve or Sides, is astonishing. Miller is a leader, a role model, a spokesperson, charismatic, confident, gracious, humble... Her love for the game and the players shines through. Next to Miller, the rest of the WNBA coaches look small.

It was an exhibition game. Plus, she did not have to pay for travel, transportation, nor lodging. All she had to pay for was food, drinks, and miscellaneous personal expenses. The bulk of the experience was paid for by the WNBA and sponsors.

Well CC had great respect for her and would love to learn from her. CC works hard and is always looking to improve. Cheryl could be a great coach for her and have CC's back and trust. Sides will never be that or have that with CC she's already destroyed any chance of that.
@@YouAREyoubeYouFirst, if they’re both about winning (which they are), CC won’t be benched often. Second, Cheryl Miller won’t implement a system that fails to maximize their actual strengths or play players who do not contribute. Third, she would be a massive upgrade over Sides.
I think you’re right on most accounts I believe Caitlyn would love being coached by her and would soak up the knowledge she gains. As a matter of fact I think the team Indiana has right now would challenge for a title if Cheryl “Miller” was their coach. She would definitely bring some order for some of those ladies that need it. HOLD UP!!! How is it that she JUST made her decision a WEEK ago?? Huh? You mean to tell me they didn't have this position lined up last year this time? I would have expected that they knew who it would be soon after last year's All-Star game. Did someone quit and we didn't know about it?
Usually the coach of the team in 1st place would be the coach of the All Stars. This year, it would have been the coach of the NY Liberty. However, the Liberty coach is the Olympic team coach for (I think) Australia (she is Australian). She wasn’t sure that she could do both, so they chose Cheryl Miller. A good choice! The Connecticut Sun and Liberty were fighting for first place for a number of weeks, so it was up in the air which team would end up on top by the Olympic break.
WNBA is behind the 8ball and in the weeds. They never could have anticipated how much Clark and Reese and the other rookies were going to bring! I don’t care if Clark brought more blah blah blah but the truth is the WNBA continues to drop the ball-no pun intended

I had a brief business dealing with the league over 15 years ago concerning events my company did for them and it just seemed as though they purposely stunned their own growth with respect to marketing and advertising. Internally it also seemed as though they were discombobulated. And now, it looks as though they have a lot of "roaches" (Nasty habits and practices) that are showing up now that the light is being shinned on the league. Poor Coaching, bad officiating, lazy play, lame game atmospheres, player back-biting, lack of preparedness, poor owner management, amateur marketing and more have to be cleaned up quickly otherwise people will be turned off to the point of no return.

Wanting $8 billion for 11 years at first seems like a big ask when $2 billion has been offered . But with how popular the game has become , it's not much when the NBA is getting $76 billion for 11 years .
Yeah I totally agree. Making less than 1/30 of the men’s league is criminal especially given all of the growth and audience numbers. Personally, I would go for $11b, an even $1b per year. That may seem like a lot but it still leaves the men’s league with more than 6x the women’s league. Tennis moved to equal pay a long time ago, and part of that was about the female stars and fan support. Basketball could get a lot closer.
Its understandable being that women play less games and play eachother 3-4x. I would prefer most to be put into the playoffs though. We will get there sooner or later tho.
Yeah maybe you should research how TV deals work. You have to have shown that you have the ability to make money to get money and the WNBA continues to make money. Subsidiaries just don't get money because it's fun they have to provide money making value which the WNBA has failed to do for 25 years. This league has not demonstrated they can manage themselves in any way needed to maximize the talents’ value. Owners have to invest in better coaches, GMs, facilities, etc. and provide fans an experience that allows greater ticket prices. The players have to stop treating each other like b!tches. And the league needs to recognize when a player is a superstar by the way they fill arenas and capitalize.

Hey Folks. Many, many years ago I had the privilege of watching in person Cheryl Miller practice with the women’s Olympic team. I couldn’t believe the intensity, and competitiveness with which she played. She gets my vote for the GOAT 🐐

The Miller family is very hard working and humbled. What an extraordinary example for us all. Been a long time fan of her and her brother. She is a great endorsement for wnba and a great talent. Love the stories that her brother shares off getting beats by her in basketball.
As a kid, I remember watching Cheryl Miller at USC. All these years I have said she was the greatest womens player EVER until I seen Caitlin Clark. I just have to say, Miller looks like she's not even 40 years old here. Cannot believe she's 60.
