    I didn't know there was a correct way to breath until my physical therapist talked to me about it in March. He has me doing exercises and at first it was challenging but getting better slowly. 🙂 thank you for this video it helps so so much. ❤

    So so awesome to see you being a mom soon, you going to be great, God bless !!
    And what a good way to remind us to breath deeper I notice the older I get the more shallow it becomes, unless early morning the freshness of air hits, than I want to take those deep breaths, we so need that oxygen for our whole body including 👶, thank you

    Loved this video, currently 19 weeks myself and I want to make sure I'm not only breathing better but helping strengthen all the core muscles as baby grows and for postpartum. Thank you for starting this series! Would love to see you explain more about how to strengthen the pelvic floor for mamas to be and ladies in general!

    • @Megsquats
      @Megsquats  Před 3 lety +1

      The diaphragmatic breathing piece is the base from which all core strength can build on! Those 20,000 reps of TVA, multifidus, and pelvic floor activation (even though they're really light and not a true 'exercise) will set you up for success! My next video will go over pelvic floor a little more in depth!

    Thank you for highlighting this highly important practice. There are many benefits to nasal breathing as well, including the effect on the nervous system and the increased nitric oxide production, which can regulate blood pressure and boost the immune system. Worth looking into implementing as well. A lot of great research out there.

But I don’t get the weight lifting perspective which is what I’ve been struggling with my baby is turning 10 this year and I’m still fighting with pelvic weakness that should help continue my improvements there. Can’t wait for the next two videos

    Thank you for continuing to contribute in a meaningful way to our strong strong community! I do want to point out though that the g in Diaphragmatic is silent. I hope I said that with respect and care. Because I have so much respect and love for you, Meg! ... edit: on second though, I'm not sure you're aware you're doing it. I'm sorry for my rudeness!

    • @Megsquats
      @Megsquats  Před 3 lety +2

      lol after I recorded this I looked it up to make sure, and physical therapists say it both ways. Diaphragm is silent, but many people pronounce the 'g' in 'diaphragmatic. If you look up 'Diaphragmatic' in Google, the spoken example pronounces the G! I've heard it both ways, but now I want to pronounce 'diapgragm' with a hard G LOL!!

    Hi Meg! 21 weeks pregnant here, I was just diagnosed with an asymptomatic umbilical hernia. I weight train regularly with dumbbells for squats and lunges plus upper body. Barbell for hip thrusts and sumo squats.
    Do you know whether I need to stop these immediately? If so, what can I do strength wise to keep strong strong? Can umbilical hernias be treat or disappear during pregnancy?

    Hey i have this question that has been bothering me for a long time, i hope you or anybody can answer this. It really helps me alot.. so like do we squeeze our abs the whole entire time when we are lifting weights other than those normal ab or leg exercise? Or do we just breathe normally without contracting the abs aka contracting the core..?

    There's also less room to breathe even when not pregnant if you have more abdominal fat than you need (yes, we do need some, that's our emergency energy storage).
