@@Cg2473 The scorecards were released, and even if Jiri would have won the 5th round 10-9 (by all judges), the outcome would have been a split draw, and Glover would have kept the belt. Glover would have won the fight if all 3 judges gave him the 5th (10-9). This was one of the best title fights I've ever seen. Absolutely outstanding fight!!!

That back and forth is exactly what made the match one for the books. Jiri did seem to have a little more going during the rounds but Glover is a beast and nearly capitalize and all these instances of winner-take-all is what makes matches like these fantastic
Man this was the first time where I felt the guy that got finished still won. To put it simply, both dudes won that fight. It was incredible.

Same. I went in rooting for Jiri, but by the halfway mark of the first round I was already forgetting who I wanted to win and was just in awe as a witness.
Not to mention Jiri is only 29 vs 43 Teixeira. Some would even say, to young vs to old. But this fight is one of the best i ever seen. What a champ Glover is. At 43 beating down the undefeated youngster and then get taken the last half minute in a 5 round fight while winning every round. This was just beautifull, sad, amazing and spectacular all at the same time!

What fights are so much better? that had everything, crazy striking, insane grappling and transitions, close submisson attempts, several momentum switches, both guys on the edge of being finished and a last second finish by the contender who was behind on the scorecards

Honestly, that was THE most BRUTAL fight I have ever seen.... I sided with Jiří because I am from the Czech republic but Teixeira... Man, that dude is scary as hell. 42 yo. dude kicked Jiří's ass pretty hard and almost got him several times. How does he do that?!!! That dude is a KILLER!!! And he had this calm aura around him whole time as if it was another business-as-usual day. Amazing fighter and a legend!! I would NEVER go against him. 😲
On the other hand, he should ask himself whether he NEEDS to be doing these things after everything he has accomplished at UFC. The fight was SO brutal. I cannot imagine the consequences on health and brains of both fighters. This is one tough sport. :(

Glover Teixeira is one of my favourite Fighters. The man has so much heart! He was owning Jiri for a lot of that fight standing and on the ground, but unfortunately with 28 seconds left he got caught and Jiri capitalized. Huge credit to both guys, that was an instant classic.
What more motivation do we need to never quit! I will remember Glover and this moment for the rest of my life. 🖤
The mental aspects were significant behind this one. The age
difference being stressed, the talk about what kind of Rocking Chair
would best suit Glover in retirement. A lot of shit that an athlete can
put to great emotional use. I'm shocked that Jiri was able to find

I had a huge smile on my face when Glover said "then I'm gonna keep going" and the crowd started cheering, but then seeing him stretching and touching the back of his neck makes me sad af. I hope if he keeps going he will get a few more wins and won't get much injury.
I remember the days before he was in the UFC. He was the dark horse in the entire sport of MMA. Crazy to see him win it all, and give us one of the greatest fights of all time in 2022. It's like the twilight zone.

Looked like something happened when he put his head up at the end ,plus the rest of the fight against a younger bigger skilled fighter. What a freakin legend and he could come back and win the title. He should be only fighting for titles being 42 and still fighting like he's 35. So much respect and gives me so much hope as someone who trains and wants to fight at that level. Nothing is impossible Follow your dreams and never give up cause you only get one life and when you give up there is no coming back.
Gotta feel for Glover. At 42 years of age he looked amazing against such a young and dangerous contender and was handily winning the fight. Still, this was an incredible fight and both men can be proud about that.

That fight went one of only two ways I would have been happy with. 5 rounds of all out war, a true dog fight, where either the older warrior knocks out or submits (either way emphatically) the younger Samurai or the younger Samurai does the same and the mantle is passed. The fact that old man Teixeira was winning up until the last 30 seconds is a testimony to the true champion he is. At 42 years old he was decisively beating one of the UFC's latest destroyers, to the point where the latter had to quickly think of and secure a submission, something he hadn't even considered in the pre-fight interviews. But Glover wore Jiri down to the point where he had to use any and all avenues to win. I knew this one would be both phenomenal and heart-breaking, as either the lovely, humble Glover would win and secure a title defence or the enigmatic but similarly humble and kind spirited Jiri would win and secure the title, with either way, the sad reality being that one of these great ambassadors of the Martial Arts would lose. But I loved it and want to see Teixeira get a rematch if he wants it. He's a true champion. It was like seeing Randy the Natural again. Love it.
