I really liked rewatching the Sailor Mouth episode. I’m pretty sure everyone knows the episode was made to teach kids not to swear. Even though it probably didn’t work, because when the kids who watch this grew up still swear.
IT WORKED ON ME!!! It actually scared me away from cussing as a kid, I don’t know if its cause of that or just the way I am but I still don’t cuss very much to this day

I love how Squidward shows appropriate disgust toward SpongeBob and Patrick’s profanity. Not as blown out of a reaction as everyone else but there’s obvious disapproval. He knows SpongeBob is just being an idiot and saying the word without knowing what it means, but he doesn’t try to get him fired by tattling on him. He only tells Mr. Krabs what he said when pressed on it. He even emphasizes that they *just* learned the word. All in all it was pretty mature of him.

I love the message that art doesn't have rules. After all it’s a form of expression and sometimes we simply feel a bit distorted or wacky. Or just look for beauty in simple things like the tiny pieces of paper. I’ve mentioned this in art class and to my surprise they all seemed to disagree. Oh well. 😅

Artist Unknown is another one of my favorites and yes Sailor Mouth is a classic. Season 2 has a lot of gems.
Spongebob was so ahead of its time. Literally an episode on saying bad words during heated gaming moments.
The episodes where Squidward is trying to use Spongebob for his own gain are SO WELL DONE
As a kid, I would always try to mouth out the censored words to figure out what SpongeBob and Patrick were saying. Surprisingly, I never figured it out, which was probably a good thing for the sake of my parents. But as I got older, it immediately clicked. 😂
SpongeBob’s circle drawing was a reverse of how to draw a head that art schools usually teach.

Squidward is actually capable of becoming a great artist, but he simply keeps getting in his own way.
He can make great art when it's an expression of his passion, but when it's motivated by his narcissistic obsession, it's "trash".
The irony is that his self-defeated attitude stems from this self image problem and prevents him from truly shining.
Did I say optimistic? I probably meant tragic.
Now knowing that the VAs were _actually_ swearing during these scenes makes it so much funnier 😂

There are only two “banned” episodes. Mid Life Crustacean is a CLASSIC and when you get to season 3, you’ll hopefully include it. Paramount+ took it off their streaming service, but I have heard it’s back now.
The other episode, season 12’s Kwarantined Krab, released around 2019-2020. With a name like that, I think it’s pretty obvious why that was canned.

@@nicolasrestrepo6177 Yes, Mr. Krabs was punished, but SpongeBob and Patrick escaped without consequences. Also, I don't think a mother's scolding will stop young viewers from doing it out of simple curiosity and fun, they might even see it as a challenge.

Surprisingly (and thankfully!), Sailor Mouth was never banned, at least here in the US! In fact, according to Wikipedia, for the most part it was generally well received! (Of course it was definitely controversial to people who don’t know how to have fun, but oh well.)
Why would it even be banned though? Every kid goes through the lesson of what words are okay to say or not. It's a relatable story to children. And the episode has a pretty clear stance that the bad words are inappropriate.

Last I recall, only two episodes of SpongeBob have been banned in the United States. Mid-Life Crustacean (though I have it on the season three DVD) and Kwarantined Krab.

But when you voice cast was voicing this episode, the swear words were not written into the script, but the actors found it very unnatural to skip words in sentences for a bleep, so they actually swore their head off and had it censored in post, and I think we all wish we could see the behind the scenes

Sailor Mouth wasn’t banned at all, remember this episode aired back in 2001 when you could get away with A LOT, at the same time cussing in cartoon shows is common, but of course with the beep sound or some other sound they use to censor it
Rugrats, Powerpuff Girls, Arthur, and Dexter’s Lab all had episodes that tried to each kids not to use bad words, but it was only the episode, “Dexter’s Rude Removal”, that got banned. Even with the censored version. I think the last cartoon that I watched that tried to get away with something like was The Loud House in the episode,“Potty Mouth”. When the Louds thought their youngest sister, Lily, was saying a word that sounds an awful lot like “dammit”.

Like a art student, I undestand that the new art is (sound of dolphin). Spongebob is the old art, when the art was maked with work, passion, tecnique, and was something that anyone can like, and Squidward is the new art, the (sound of boat) of works that are pieces of trash o any object already made, but with a new "artist definition", and are things that only the artist can recognize.
The art is for show things that in the real life we never have, can be performances, comics, cartoons, videogames, etc. All the meanings of a piece art always have to be a mystery, because makes people think and investigate his meaning. The artist have to make a unique experience to the people thinking in that.
No like the modern art that anyone can do and dont make people thing without a previous explanation.

Ok so funny story about me when i first saw this episode. And let me remind you, back then i didn't know about bad words until i saw this ep, When i first saw the ep, i was actually confused in why the citizens were so upset when SpongeBob and patrick were talking like that, i was like "why is everyone getting so mad??? They are just speaking dolphin language." And then i was like "wait! Are the citizens in bikini bottom racist??? No wonder there are no dolphins around!" I freaking mistook this ep as a racism episode as a kid 😂

I assure you that Sailor Mouth was NOT banned when I was growing up…but since a lot of things change nowadays and kids tv shows aren’t like they used to in the early 20s, I believe that episode is banned to this day 😂

As far as i know it isnt banned, i feel like i remember seeing it pleanty of times in reruns, and stopped being played cause it was an old old episode, one that got replaced with a rerun of an episode a couple of seasons newer, happens to all shows like this, simpsons and south park....trying to keep on air time reserved for the neweby vst 3 seasons of a show with reruns playing
