Honestly, why doesn't Hollywood just make 2061: Odyssey three and 3001: The final odyssey into films? It's obvious that nobody can recapture the depth and symbolism of 2001, but we have books to go by! It shouldn't be hard to make a book into a film.

Clarke's 2061: Odyssey Three, there is this excerpt in which David Bowman sends a message to Earth through HAL, reading, "ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS EXCEPT EUROPA ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE". If you watch the movie Europa Report (very good movie made in the true style of science fiction) you will understand this video! Well done!
OK, now the beginning was incredible, but you lost me the moment Bowman touches the sphere (didn't Dustin Hoffman tell you not to do that back in 1998? lol;). After that, it was the trailer for the "Europa Report" movie itself - which was very good. I was just disappointed bc I actually read the Arthur C. Clarke sequels, 2061 and 3001. I would go nuts if Hollywood finally has the balls to put them on the big screen!

Why is Jupiter there? In 2010: Space Odyssey Jupiter ignited into a second son. And Europa had life on it and another Monolith on it in the last scene of the movie. So if this were a fan trailer, I would suggject that the Monolith were in it, to kinda follow the story more
Yes, you're right, nevetherless, i haven't fully read 2061, but at the beginning the author expains the time linearity it's not a fact between the prequels and they can be settled in different univereses(i know that's fucked) but yes in 2010 Jupiter implodes becoming Lucifer and making life possible on Europa, so the showing of Jupiter and the landing on Europa could just be an adaptation of the chinese Tsien mission and the adaptation of the algae being found in the book, as an octopus in Europa report, but it was beatifully made with Bowman back as an actual elder
In the fifth novel it explains where old Bowman got the Arthur C. Clarke tie in the alien zoo: it was the only recognizable thing hanging in the closet.

I cant find it, but did Keir Dullea do a computer commercial about 20 or 30 years ago. I remember that I walked in, or channel switched just in time to see a commercial that had a HAL like computer built into a wood executive desk. The person in the commercial was sitting and having some dissagreement with the computer. I swear it was Keir Dullea I saw. I only caught a few seconds of it at the end and never saw it again.

That last bit with HAL looked like an effectively modernised portrayal of the sinister super computer for today's audiences. In isolation, It could be part of a trailer of a 2001 remake or follow up. Wow.
Not to my knowledge, it's been a long time since I read the book. It mostly deals with Heywood Floyd's grandson. This trailer is really cool, but has little to do with the novel.
So I'm thinking....in able to help Dave feel more comfortable or "at home" in his new four dimensional world , the "higher" or more intelligent entity gives him a laptop to see and use for what? The hopes of sucking what intelligence he has left in his brain out by surfing? 🤔
