Totally agree with your comments on the park. You're right to say what you did. Our experience has always been similar. Great rides, but an undercurrent of aggressive and confrontational behaviour feels like it's never far away. Great vlog 👍🏻
We hate to be negative but there are just so many issues that need to be addressed. It is such a pity and you have hit the nail on the head that confrontation always seems to be around the corner. The amount of queue jumping and general awful behaviour was incredible. Thanks Rory 👍
Agree with your thoughts 100%. It’s one of our local parks. Like you say, love the rides but the clientele are horrible! Completely puts us off going. We’ve purposely not been since the pandemic started because we know what people are like. Thanks again though for another great vlog!

I totally agree. I used to go to Thorpe Park all the time as a teenager just with my friends and it felt fine, but in the last 5/6 years it’s completely changed and I feel a bit on edge there now. Such a shame as it’s otherwise a great park!
We will miss the rides just not the clientele that the park attracts. I totally agree Sophie, it is such a massive shame but they don't seem willing (or able) to sort the problems out there.

The only UK family I watch that go to other places other than Disney and Universal. You're just genuinely lovely to watch and offer so much advice ^^ never been to Thorpe Park because of the distance to travel but hope to get there next year !
I second your comments about Thorpe, Steph and Jim! We went for the first time last year and were really disappointed actually. Queue jumping, drugs, huge wait times and unfriendly staff, wouldn’t go back there despite how good the rides are. It’s unfortunately not just the rides that make the park it’s the whole package you go for. Tickets are more expensive than Towers and Blackpool too if you don’t have a pass! Glad you guys had an amazing day and loved the vlog! ☺️🤓❤️ Hope you’re enjoying the summer hols!!
It almost seems like they cater for the idiots Natalie and forget the people who want to come for the right reasons and to enjoy the park, rides and atmosphere. The queue jumping is a joke there. Such a pity.

Heading to TP next week but Towers definitely takes the lead in my theme park list. Laughed at Jim mentioning the Gloucester Cheese Roll, I live about 10 minutes from the hill they chuck it down. Watched it once and that was bad enough, can’t imagine competing! 🤣 Have a great rest of the week! xx

We absolutely agree with your comments and concerns. Such a shame cause it’s got some fantastic rides! I tried Stealth earlier this year for the first time (it was closed the previous time we were there) and absolutely loved it. Saw was already up there as one of my faves. Detest Colossus as it gave me a migraine. We’ve lost all hope for Florida 2021 and have even given up on Disneyland Paris for the time being, so we now have our inaugural trip to Port Aventura in a couple of weeks time. Easily some of the best rides in the country which makes it such a shame. I was worried we would come over as being overly negative but the responses have shown that so many people feel the same way which is nice but very sad at the same time. 100% agree with you! We visited Thorpe Park just the once about 11 years ago. But I (Yas) didn’t like the vibe at all. And it had put me off visiting any other U.K theme parks as I thought they would all feel the same. It’s only since watching lots of vlogs of BPB and Alton Towers that I would like to give them a try again. 🖤
Wow, that shows just how long it has been like it and still no sign of the problems being addressed. Totally different atmosphere at Towers & BPB. I'm no Saint but some of the stuff at Thorpe is well beyond the line.

I agree about Thorpe Park, I had the chance to go back after a gap of about 10 years and it's not what it was. It's my 'local' park too and there's been stabbings there in the past few years. I think it's the closeness to London that causes the bad atmosphere with the gangs going there a lot.
Hello There, a very detailed Vlog which is really informative, thank you for sharing your experience and perspective, I imagine that it's a different experience if you go off-peak, this is the main park that needs a lot of investment, not just in staff training and customer service but in terms of rides, attractions, landscaping and facilities. Only been to Thorpe park once, long before most of those rides were created. Must be around 16+ years ago since I went. Agree with your summary about the park, it is the only park that I have been threatened in. Great video, glad Jimmy is enjoying himself with the big rides, really makes a difference to your visit being able to do all the rides.
I had a run in with queue jumpers a few years ago but don't bother now as it was done in front of staff before we even got to the bag check and if they ignore it then I'm not bothering agiain neither 🤦♂️
Appreciate your honesty as ever and balanced opinions. Everyone pays the exact same for their day out it’s such a shame an entitled bunch think they can behave however they want whenever they want and everyone else should suffer. Hope you have a much nicer time at Legoland x

Totally agree with your opinions here and it's a real shame. For too long now it feels the park has been neglected, not just in regards to new investments but in its overall running. I'm interested to see how the new Merlin owners will tackle the problems if indeed they will, wouldn't be surprised if they sell it off to remove it from there portfolio.

Haven't been to Thorpe Park in years! Looks like it's changed a lot. Tidal wave is the best for a hot day, we used to go on it and then eat lunch in the sunshine to dry off. I always remember it mostly being groups of teenagers at TP, not many families. Should definitely step up their security though, if people are able to get drugs into the park, what else could they bring in! Legoland is the best, a favourite of my family growing up. I look forward to the vlog!

Omg Steph you are braver than me, I can’t go anywhere near walking dead or the ghost train. 100% agree with what you said it’s got some great rides but I wouldn’t let Kellan go around with his mates. We are visiting next week and staying in the shark cabins over night, I’m so pleased after seeing the wait times that we have purchased the fast track. At least Jimmy can’t tick the rides of his rollercoaster list now. 😃
The Fastracks will be worth their weight in gold as the queues ( + the queue jumpers) are not particularly pleasant. Hope you manage to have a great time though 👍
Yeah totally agree with your thoughts about Thorpe, but I do want to get back there. Hopefully John and I will get to go again this year. I haven't been on the walking dead ride or derren brown's ghost train. I also need to get to legoland! I've never been! xx

The Black Mirror thing is basically a mirror maze, soon as you said we ain't doing Black Mirror because it's 13+ but we're doing Ghost Train I immediately thought that can't be right haha

It's funny that the website says Derren Brown isn't 13+ but Black Mirror is, because Black Mirror is basically just a mirror maze with some smoke and flashing lights! About the park atmosphere I completely agree with you. There's always been loads of queue jumping and general anti social behaviour every time we've been there and it seems the park just ignore it because that's most of their clientele.
Hi Charlie. It does seem like the Park Management are prepared to tolerate anti social behaviour and I'm suprised as they are part of the Merlin group. There's always an atmosphere and way to many people who think that they can do what they want. A real shame.
Just the video i was looking for! Danny and i are heading to Thorpe next week and i was wondering about timed tickets still being a thing and weekend crowd levels. Haven't been on Derren Brown yet so looking forward to trying it. Also haven't been on walking dead since it was X so looking forward to trying that too, any of course getting back on The Swarm!!
Absolutely agree with comments about Thorpe, Merlin really needs to sort it out! We felt exactly the same. It’s not a park I want to return to in a ‘rush’ But we are heading back in august 🤦🏻♀️ just so Harry can go on the big rides now he’s 1.4 coz the rides are amazing So glad you guys went on the scary rides so now I know me and Harry won’t like them 🤣🤣
Thanks for the vlog and thoughts on TP. I’ve been looking at either this park or Alton Towers for a trip with my children. We are only a 45 mins drive to TP and a 3 hour drive to AT, but watching your vlogs I think it’s gonna be AT. I’m not someone that can keep quiet if someone queue jumps or is smoking near my family so probably best I steer clear. 🤷🏻♀️
It would be very easy to get involved in confrontation there as there are just too many people who think that they should be able to do as they please. It's a much better day out at Alton Towers in my opinion. Have a great time 😎

I grew up near Thorpe and haven’t been back in year due to the gangs that always cause trouble there. Not worth the effort and would never take my little ones! Much better parks in the world then Thorpe park for family’s!
I haven’t been to this park for at least 18 years but sadly it doesn’t look like it’s changed all that much. It’s always had great rides but the latter definitely lets it down which is such a shame. I do agree though I honestly don’t know why it’s worse here than anywhere else. Hopefully you can take some positives from the day.
Great vlog guys. Sorry to hear about the issues with smoking - completely get where you are coming from. I think it’s about time smoking was banned in places like this - even outdoors. It’s a family place at the end of the day and the smell travels even outdoors - regular smoke is unpleasant enough! But important question- is Nemesis Inferno any match for the OG Nemesis at Alton Towers? Never been Thorpe Park but Nemesis is one of my all-time favourites! Hi Dan, its definitely Nemesis Inferior at TP 😉 We got a cancellation email from Virgin last week for the Florida trip which was a welcome relief from the limbo to be honest mate.

I love the place, but I'm still bitter about them closing the log flume and just leaving it to rot. Was my favourite water ride in the uk. The coasters are great but certain ones like Colossus and even Stealth could do with new trains with better restraints.
I agree, I think there is always a negative vibe at Thorpe Park due to other people unfortunately. I can get there quite easily but I think I’d rather travel the distance to Alton Towers next time as it seems to be more positive there. It’s a shame because the rides are good but yeah I won’t go back for a while, if ever to be honest.
I didn’t know walking dead had a coaster in it 🤣 when I visited in 2019 I thought it was just a scare maze and avoided it thinking it was boring. Regret that now lol
I think Thorpe is a victim of its location and the rides it has there. By that I mean it's on the outskirts of London with 9 million people on its doorstep. It has very good public transport links into the city too. Because of these reasons and the nature of the rides there, it will attract the teenagers and young adults who sadly just want to cause trouble. Pre-booking aside, you could be the other side of London and be at Thorpe easily within an hour or 2 via public transport. Towers on the other hand - no major city close by, its in the middle of nowhere and ironically, its poor public transport links works in its favour because if you want to go there, you have to drive - so that, and the distance from any major city, deters the younger troublemakers from going alone ("traveller" days excluded!)
I get the proximity to London it just baffles me how many people visit hell bent on being disruptive. I actually feel for the staff having to face it week in week out.

Completely agree with the ending. Police won't tackle casual use of cannabis, so security at parks won't do anything, and it's so sad. Smelt it once in AT. Bottom line here is if it's legal then legalise it and produce it to a defined strength, then tax it to help those who need addiction treatment. I think the majority are with you on this issue, drugs just aren't cool. Smoking in parks should be an outright ban anyway, but that can't be policed either.
Thorpe Park secunity is useless. In July 2020 there was a guy stabbed inside the park. Whilst I can see it’s harder to stop drugs security should be able to stop weapons. Thankfully the victim was ‘only’ injured and they set a cordon up and didn’t let people leave the park or car park and caught the attacker who was jailed for 11 months.
What have they done with the area that the Spiderman Show was? We never got to see the end of the show after my dad decided to spew Ribena after being on Colossus Hahahaha

It seems that the park has resigned itself to the fact that this stuff goes on. We saw people queue jumping before we even got to bag check (which is a joke in itesf) and all done in front of the staff.
@@TD3Vlogs Yeah queue jumping is always annoying we had it at Drayton Manor last week. “We’re just trying to get up to where our friends are” Had to give them the old steel arm 😂 “well your mates will have to come back down here then” The funny thing is the staff looked at me like I was the problem 😬
You making it sound like if you smoke wacky it’s not a safe place to go because people smoking it. I definitely know for sure Blackpool certainly has wacky smell .I been xmas markets people smoking it .it’s not the wacky as people who ill smoke it it’s the people going the..by the looks of it the rides some are not really for young ones anyone .seen good few fights at Blackpool pleasure beach day and night only saying x
The smoking of drugs definitely wasn't the only issue. Intimidating behaviour between different guests too. They had to close a scare event recently because of scare actors being injured by guests, there have also been multiple stabbings there. We saw people bypass security. I feel that the open smoking of drugs right next to families just shows that there's a blatent disregard of common courtesy. The three we saw were right next to a sleeping baby in a buggy and the nan had to ask them to move on, they moved only a couple of meters further away.
It’s not what they said, bad atmosphere, queue jumping, aggressive behaviour by some. Not a good place for younger kids being around this. Judging by the majority of the comments, most who have been actually agree with D3 🤷♀️ just saying
If it’s that bad and you know it is don’t go then they will do something about it .if people still go they won’t bother .the wacky I am sorry but a cigarette is more harmful by a baby,I definitely know 100 percent wacky is everywhere in Blackpool the pleasure beach etc.my son is a paramedic and says you don’t pick people up with wacky lol..lot more parks to go to .

I agree about Thorpe Park, I had the chance to go back after a gap of about 10 years and it's not what it was. It's my 'local' park too and there's been stabbings there in the past few years. I think it's the closeness to London that causes the bad atmosphere with the gangs going there a lot.

Hello There, a very detailed Vlog which is really informative, thank you for sharing your experience and perspective, I imagine that it's a different experience if you go off-peak, this is the main park that needs a lot of investment, not just in staff training and customer service but in terms of rides, attractions, landscaping and facilities. Only been to Thorpe park once, long before most of those rides were created. Must be around 16+ years ago since I went. Agree with your summary about the park, it is the only park that I have been threatened in.
Great video, glad Jimmy is enjoying himself with the big rides, really makes a difference to your visit being able to do all the rides.
I had a run in with queue jumpers a few years ago but don't bother now as it was done in front of staff before we even got to the bag check and if they ignore it then I'm not bothering agiain neither 🤦♂️

It's not worth the bother. Someone was injured with a knife ther last year. Security checks are clearly thorough.

Totally agree with your opinions here and it's a real shame. For too long now it feels the park has been neglected, not just in regards to new investments but in its overall running. I'm interested to see how the new Merlin owners will tackle the problems if indeed they will, wouldn't be surprised if they sell it off to remove it from there portfolio.
100 percent agree - I'm suprised Merlin are prepared to be associated with the park in its current state.

Haven't been to Thorpe Park in years! Looks like it's changed a lot. Tidal wave is the best for a hot day, we used to go on it and then eat lunch in the sunshine to dry off.
I always remember it mostly being groups of teenagers at TP, not many families. Should definitely step up their security though, if people are able to get drugs into the park, what else could they bring in!

Omg Steph you are braver than me, I can’t go anywhere near walking dead or the ghost train. 100% agree with what you said it’s got some great rides but I wouldn’t let Kellan go around with his mates. We are visiting next week and staying in the shark cabins over night, I’m so pleased after seeing the wait times that we have purchased the fast track. At least Jimmy can’t tick the rides of his rollercoaster list now. 😃
The Fastracks will be worth their weight in gold as the queues ( + the queue jumpers) are not particularly pleasant. Hope you manage to have a great time though 👍

The Black Mirror thing is basically a mirror maze, soon as you said we ain't doing Black Mirror because it's 13+ but we're doing Ghost Train I immediately thought that can't be right haha
It was totally my bad 🙈 Because we hadn't done those two attractions I looked them up on the Thorpe site and only Black Mirror said 13+ 🤦♀️

It's funny that the website says Derren Brown isn't 13+ but Black Mirror is, because Black Mirror is basically just a mirror maze with some smoke and flashing lights! About the park atmosphere I completely agree with you. There's always been loads of queue jumping and general anti social behaviour every time we've been there and it seems the park just ignore it because that's most of their clientele.
Hi Charlie. It does seem like the Park Management are prepared to tolerate anti social behaviour and I'm suprised as they are part of the Merlin group. There's always an atmosphere and way to many people who think that they can do what they want. A real shame.

Thanks for the vlog and thoughts on TP. I’ve been looking at either this park or Alton Towers for a trip with my children. We are only a 45 mins drive to TP and a 3 hour drive to AT, but watching your vlogs I think it’s gonna be AT. I’m not someone that can keep quiet if someone queue jumps or is smoking near my family so probably best I steer clear. 🤷🏻♀️
It would be very easy to get involved in confrontation there as there are just too many people who think that they should be able to do as they please. It's a much better day out at Alton Towers in my opinion. Have a great time 😎

I grew up near Thorpe and haven’t been back in year due to the gangs that always cause trouble there. Not worth the effort and would never take my little ones! Much better parks in the world then Thorpe park for family’s!

I haven’t been to this park for at least 18 years but sadly it doesn’t look like it’s changed all that much. It’s always had great rides but the latter definitely lets it down which is such a shame. I do agree though I honestly don’t know why it’s worse here than anywhere else. Hopefully you can take some positives from the day.

I think it’s about time smoking was banned in places like this - even outdoors. It’s a family place at the end of the day and the smell travels even outdoors - regular smoke is unpleasant enough!
But important question- is Nemesis Inferno any match for the OG Nemesis at Alton Towers? Never been Thorpe Park but Nemesis is one of my all-time favourites!

We got a cancellation email from Virgin last week for the Florida trip which was a welcome relief from the limbo to be honest mate.

I love the place, but I'm still bitter about them closing the log flume and just leaving it to rot. Was my favourite water ride in the uk. The coasters are great but certain ones like Colossus and even Stealth could do with new trains with better restraints.

I agree, I think there is always a negative vibe at Thorpe Park due to other people unfortunately. I can get there quite easily but I think I’d rather travel the distance to Alton Towers next time as it seems to be more positive there. It’s a shame because the rides are good but yeah I won’t go back for a while, if ever to be honest.

I didn’t know walking dead had a coaster in it 🤣 when I visited in 2019 I thought it was just a scare maze and avoided it thinking it was boring. Regret that now lol

If you want to see security at Thorpe park go at fright nights last year they had guard dogs and probably 50-100 security guards\police
They need adequate security ALL season and not just for Fright Nights.

I think Thorpe is a victim of its location and the rides it has there. By that I mean it's on the outskirts of London with 9 million people on its doorstep. It has very good public transport links into the city too. Because of these reasons and the nature of the rides there, it will attract the teenagers and young adults who sadly just want to cause trouble. Pre-booking aside, you could be the other side of London and be at Thorpe easily within an hour or 2 via public transport.
Towers on the other hand - no major city close by, its in the middle of nowhere and ironically, its poor public transport links works in its favour because if you want to go there, you have to drive - so that, and the distance from any major city, deters the younger troublemakers from going alone ("traveller" days excluded!)
I get the proximity to London it just baffles me how many people visit hell bent on being disruptive. I actually feel for the staff having to face it week in week out.

Completely agree with the ending. Police won't tackle casual use of cannabis, so security at parks won't do anything, and it's so sad. Smelt it once in AT.
Bottom line here is if it's legal then legalise it and produce it to a defined strength, then tax it to help those who need addiction treatment. I think the majority are with you on this issue, drugs just aren't cool.
Smoking in parks should be an outright ban anyway, but that can't be policed either.
It seems to have been a problem for a long time. I'm no Saint but people smoking it 6 feet from kids in pushchairs was a particular low.
Thorpe Park secunity is useless. In July 2020 there was a guy stabbed inside the park. Whilst I can see it’s harder to stop drugs security should be able to stop weapons. Thankfully the victim was ‘only’ injured and they set a cordon up and didn’t let people leave the park or car park and caught the attacker who was jailed for 11 months.
Awful park and awful security. It's been going on for years but nothing changes 🤦♂️

It seems that the park has resigned itself to the fact that this stuff goes on. We saw people queue jumping before we even got to bag check (which is a joke in itesf) and all done in front of the staff.

You making it sound like if you smoke wacky it’s not a safe place to go because people smoking it. I definitely know for sure Blackpool certainly has wacky smell .I been xmas markets people smoking it .it’s not the wacky as people who ill smoke it it’s the people going the..by the looks of it the rides some are not really for young ones anyone .seen good few fights at Blackpool pleasure beach day and night only saying x
The smoking of drugs definitely wasn't the only issue. Intimidating behaviour between different guests too. They had to close a scare event recently because of scare actors being injured by guests, there have also been multiple stabbings there. We saw people bypass security. I feel that the open smoking of drugs right next to families just shows that there's a blatent disregard of common courtesy. The three we saw were right next to a sleeping baby in a buggy and the nan had to ask them to move on, they moved only a couple of meters further away.
It’s not what they said, bad atmosphere, queue jumping, aggressive behaviour by some. Not a good place for younger kids being around this. Judging by the majority of the comments, most who have been actually agree with D3 🤷♀️ just saying
