    Just a quick correction: Matt said that the VarioHeat furnace and AquaGo water heater work off of electric or gas. They both work off of gas only. They have 12V connections to run the fans and pumps, but not generate heat.

    Nice unit and great for boondocking...the AC performance was impressive and great size refrigerator...Having said that, I always wondered why Winnebago never finishes its storage compartments...Looking in and seeing those 2X4s (or whatever their size is) is such an eyesore and gives you a cheap built feeling..I know it may cost more to cover those but I would pay a bit more to have a more finished look...Everything said, Ill have this on my top 3 list..Thanks for the video.

    Why not offer the 1708 it's probably the best in the series, it's the only non slide model -
    drop the aggressive tires it's a trailer it just follows - aggressive tread doesn't matter (better would be endurance radials for towing on the road and freeway)
    Need a compressor fridge option too

  • @larrygray1557
    @larrygray1557 Před 2 lety +1

    Bed 54x74. While the short RV 74 is expected, 54 is a non-starter. That is the width of a full size mattress, where Queen is 60". Queen is the smallest I would consider and available for similar floorplans from all other manufacturer, Including Grand Design that Winnebago owns.

      I was confused about something said in the specs. The unit has 2 solar panels on the roof, yet it can only hold out for 5 - 7 days? What about using said solar panels to recharge and therefore extend your time? With solar recharging, your off grid time should only be limited by how fast you use your fresh water and/or how quickly you run out of food.

    Why are they forcing people to buy slides. Why not a flex edition in 1708fb? And you have to rely on just battery for fridge. If any problems; no back up. What are the propane tanks for? Just the stove, hot water, heat and outside hook up? Multipurpose a dinette slide but not precious fuel?

    Hi Grant , my wife and I just took delivery of a 2022 2108 FBS FLX and unlike the one in this video there is no range hood and wall vent installed . What is the deal ? This is a safety hazard to have an unvented gas appliance in a confined space . The surface of the microwave cabinet above the cooktop has a plastic lens and an unguarded flammable surface. How and when is Winnebago going to remedy this hazard ?

    Those decals suck! No to mention that propane tanks in the front. Dont get me wrong, I love winnebago is doing this, but make it more rugged. More armour in the front and independent suspension. Have a slide out stove and sink on the side.
    But the weirdest thing is that you see the toilet right away as if its the focal point of the trailer, if the door isn't closed.

    My only problem is the light colors, maybe offer a darker option. I’ve noticed that all rv builders have gone bright colors, I hate it. They claim it makes it feel “more open”. I think it makes it easier to get dirty. Why would I need a bright interior if I spend all my time getting dirty in the sun? I just want to chill. How bout offer it in 2 interior colors, one dark and one light. I feel that after your company works through the apparent issues you should offer a darker interior option. The FLX is a game changer, expand on that idea and truly embrace the off-road off-grid mentality.

    No no no sir correct that 4 amp nonsense or qualify it and put it into proper context, don’t mislead. My buddy and I both purchased these units same day we live in Florida (Hot, Hot, Hot) it’s blowing the drawers off on amp usage and not leaving 5/7 days off grid camping time without depleting the battery.
    The Lithionics app is telling us after a few hrs of usage that we’ve only got hrs remaining NOT days.
    Contacted the a/c manufacturer and they said…. Are you ready? 😂😂 “ use the a/c judiciously” REALLY? Hey dude it’s hot 🥵 what the crap are you talking about?
    Nice campers and a/c seems ok on shore power but this off grid stuff hmmm well folks use it judiciously, 😰
    P.S. how bout flying some of these tech people from dealers that carry your units up there for some dang training seems like no body at these dealerships know diddly about these units.

  • @kencurtis01

    That is a lie. If you run an air-conditioning for 2 to 3 hours straight, the batteries are dead.

  • @sesquashtwo

    I guess, that anybody that feels they can afford this travel trailer edition, probably won't be too fazed if gas reaches 9/10 dollars per gallon, as it is getting close to, in Canada right now. and tugging it along at 10-12 mpg. Gas costing what it is...and climbing higher every hour...as well as the threat to end all ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) manufacturing, will probably be the death knell for the Recreational Industry...as nobody is going to buy, another new or used RV, with the expectation that they will be towing it other than perhaps 50-75 miles away, before a battery (EV) recharge halts them. I own a 25 foot Winnie, and when I can no longer tow my trailer with my ICE van...I will be looking to put it on cement blocks at a permanent camping/seasonal location...and treat it as a non-tow 'cottage'. That's our plan...not to sell/divest, but to install, remove the wheels/tires, put a skirt around it....and that's that...an end of a Middle Class recreational era...

      Fuel costs will factor into the equation, however compared to vacation homes or hotel travel, RV lifestyle will always represent a low cost getaway. Don't forget the inflationary pressures your suggesting also affect air travel, boating and virtually all aspects of life.

      You don’t have to take the tires off at a permanent campground, do you?

    • @sesquashtwo
      @sesquashtwo Před 2 lety +1

      @@Lit123ful Nope, you can leave them on, if you choose, but do need to cover them up from sidewall sun rot. Most take them off...when they decided to add a patio to the front of their 'permanent' cottage get away. When you decide to, if ever, you can merely slip on your tires...after greasing your bearings (!!!!) and pull out of the site. Another thing that some do, is place straw bales just under the side walls all around the trailer, then put a nice vinyl skirt to hide the straw. The straw is a wonderful high R factor insulation that will let you camp well into the snow flakes if you wish...and also will keep your bed warm and not prone to mold rot from having the bottom sweating from the cold bed support as your body heat permeates the mattress. Stuff like that.

    Sadly, totally misrepresented the power capacity on board. I have a boat with more than double all the capacities of this RV; 630 watts solar, 900 ah lithium running similar refrigerator, AC unit, lights, appliances etc. I only have 8 hours total air conditioning or batteries are totally depleted. Solar is insufficient to run it continuously. Would need over 2kw solar, not enough space on the roof. Using the specified limited battery and solar judiciously is a joke. Probably get 2 hours AC +/-. Cannot run the lithium to dead or will reduce their lifespan. What might work if tolerable, run the AC for an hour to cool down overnight for sleep. From experience that doesn't work well if really hot & humid overnight (like Florida summer). Otherwise get that genset running.
