I like how British Kristen had no real function, they shot Fig and like, campaigned, maybe? But didn’t help in any battle whatsoever. And then died before the final battle.
she blessed everyone for the fight in seacaster manor, and that Bless was *very* helpful. lots of rolls passed the success threshold because of British Kristen's bless!
@@MontyBoosh Jasper Cartwright mentioned on Twitter that there were some "wild pre-baby chats" between him, Brennan and Izzy on set for Burrows End as he was also an expecting father at the time, so assuming this was filmed after that, Izzy was FOR SURE pregnant at the time. I doubt the baby was already born at this point, as Brennan took like a full 4 month break from recording anything new for Worlds Beyond Number between Oct 2023 and Jan 2024 as paternal leave, so I doubt he'd have been recording D20 during that time either.
See, the funniest part about this entire thing is that, I don't think there's ANYTHING in this entire series that has made Brennan upset more on camera; now he's laughing cuz the shit is really funny, but he's in obvious pain because now he has to narrate the world around this entire bit and have that be part of it's history *forever*.
To be fair, he gave the players *all the chances* to make this happen. They wouldn't have gotten it without Adaine's help action, and you cannot give the help action on Divine Intervention. He's mad because he didn't expect it to work and it's his fault that it did 😭
The reason K2 was a bit off compared to the other Bad Kids was because her DM was Zac this entire time and she was in a truly no-context campaign of her own.
I think this is the first time ally has wanted to walk back a bit that they’ve done. Like they’re the one asking for it and trying to tell Brennan that he shouldn’t actually do anything with it. Which I think makes this whole thing even funnier because Brennan completely rebukes that with no no you started this horrifying mess we’re gonna finish now.
@@tantalus_complex glad you fixed it, apologies if my reply came off as abrasive. have seen too many people in these comment sections purposefully misgendering them.
Quick recap: Ally has magical roll, as is custom, Brennan leaves the room a broken man, Zac takes over, Ally decides K2 realizes she may be pregnant, the players start a bit where Fabian is the dad... Brennan returns and starts ranting about Ally's K2 nonsense, Ally says K2 could just get unpregnant with that divine intervention, Brennan REALIZES ALLY CREATED MORE LORE WHEN HE WAS GONE, Brennan kills K2 as he said he would, Lou starts being sad boi Fabian, BRENNAN REALIZES THE OTHER PCS CREATED EVEN MORE LORE IN HIS ABSENCE. Beautiful.
I managed to keep myself fairly together throughout this clip, until Dice Deity Ally Beardsley said “How much of this can we cut out, you think?” And I *shrieked* at 4 in the morning and burst into hysterical sobbing laughter.
The fact the fate of the world and the lives of the Bad Kids depended on the clone of Kristin TWICE over the word Blimey during a critical moment is just baffling. More so to Brennan making him walk off the DM station. Plot wise, this makes no sense but is hilarious nonetheless.
One of the funniest parts of the whole thing is that up until that point in the episode everyone had played it all mostly straight and serious. They had actually won and were pretty much home free, there was no need to do any of that.
I really don't know how the help action would work in a Divine Intervention role *except* where it's between two clerics of the same deity and I definitely wouldn't allow it in my own game outside those very narrow parameters but can't argue with the results here. 😂
Honestly I wasn't sure how I felt about Ally playing this character very loosely and Communic like. Mostly because she's like the main character. But it was all worth it because this season has been fucking hysterical. And this was the funniest shit i've seen in a dnd campaign ever
I mean, if you see a man with blood pouring from his ears and nose, twitching uncontrollably, you don't ask if he's okay, because you already know the answer is "no." ... Same logic applies here 😂
Blimey is short for Cor Blimey which means God Bless Me. It is an entirely appropriate spark of God’s intervention. It is similar to Jeez or Jeepers for Jesus or Criminey for Christ or Struth for God’s Honest Truth.
It worked in the Seven. Coincidentally also in this universe, and a time where Brennan granted the player advantage. (Although that one they were level ten and simplified the process by rolling regular d20s.)
It is notable that this is the first time a cast member has sat in the dm seat during an actual episode, otherwise has only occurred in adventuring parties
One of the problems is that Brennan allows the Help action to grant "advantage" on rolls that should not get advantage. Advantage is roll 2d20 and take the higher result. Here, he allows Ally to roll the d100 divine intervention check twice. The first time, they rolled 80+, it was on the second roll that they got a 12 and succeeded. He played himself.
Pretty funny, but this is why dnd is actually not the best narrative engine. The RPG elements make hacks like your ice clone using divine intervention at the final battle kind of an inevitability, and there’s no space where every character isn’t a straight up god in their own right at the end of the campaign
This is why i gave up on this shit after the 3rd episode of this season, allys inability to take even a moment of the story seriously this season and basically just do what ever they think is funny really pulled me out and add the fact that they always seem to end up the main character of whatever campaign setting they play in and it gets real frustrating.
To be fair, this is a comedy show. D20 really isn’t for you if you want them to be serious 100% of the time. I also don’t agree at all that Ally is the main character of any seasons. Brennan does an amazing job at spotlighting everyone in all of the season. I don’t think that criticism is valid.
I honestly feel bad for brendan. He is such a fun person, but all of his cast are the most unlikable people. Always talking over each other, they all have to be the center, and somehow, he puts on a decent show with these people.
I think you aren’t seeing how much their behavior changes depending on the season. The Intrepid Heros have done so many together that they are super comfortable with one another, therefore them talking over each other became more of an issue later on. They all commit hard to the bit super hard now because of how Brennan prefers to actually impose consequences, and play out the batshit crazy things that they say as a joke and then want to walk back (one reason he wouldn’t let Emily use Gift of Gab). But there is still the instinct from Freshman year when they were all familiarizing themselves with the system, as well as filming their gameplay, to throw out an idea and then realize they could’ve handled it better afterwards. If you watch a lot of the side quests you can see that they don’t act as crazy separately, but them all being there to egg someone on instead of ignoring the initial instinct is what breeds this level of insanity. To me they seem like they would be crazy difficult to corral onto a path the way that Brennan does, but they also invest a lot in their characters and the overarching story. So I think the reason he goes back to working with them is because, no matter how difficult it is, Brennan feels like the effort is worth it.
@emmakane6848 I get it. You are a fan, but I could never actually watch. I have tried on drop out, but man, I really do not like the cast. The only reason I watched this video was someone told me brendan quit. Which now I see was not true.
@TheeSweetboy you do know he is in other things besides d20. His showings in game changer alone are amazing. Remember, I never said you couldn't or shouldn't like it. I just find this show to annoying to watch.
