    Varo is now up to 5% interest on savings as long as your savings balance is under $5,000. There are a few other conditions but nothing difficult. You have to have a balance of $0.01 or greater each day during the month, and there is something else I can not think of off the top of my head.

    FYI, Varo says they have a 2.8 interest on their savings if you have a direct deposit of $1k a month with I believe 5 or more checking swipes. The problem with this is it resets every month, so if you get paid right before the first, you get .4 until your next paycheck. I called to see if they could do anything to change that and they said I am SOL.

    Varo is the future. It’s so easy to get 2.8% on savings. And the round up feature on top of Save your pay gets you so much more money just keeping money in the bank.

    • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  Před 3 lety +9

      2.8% is unmatched currently and as you mentioned, it’s pretty easy to qualify for this higher interest. I really do think Varo has the most potential to grow in the future Especially with their national Bank charter. Thanks so much for the comment!

      @Ike P did you load funds onto it before you went to use it? I know that seems like a dumb question but some people have mistaken the credit builder card for a traditional credit card that has a set amount of funds on it when in reality it's like one of those credit cards that you put money on as a coverage for it. Each purchase you make with the credit builder is reported to the credit bureau as though they were separate credit purchases with a coverage-based payment taken from the funds that you deposited on the credit builder card

    I have Chime currently and it's been good to me for the 1 year I've been with them. I used Varo Bank for a month or 2 and the only reason I switched to them is because of how quickly the money would hit the account I had at the time. After I had trouble with the "syncing account" issues, I was done after that and went back to Chime.

      It's not called spot me on varo but they offer something that's the exact same thing.
      They also have free ATM withdrawals.
      And heres another that they have that chime doesn't
      Varo has no foreign transaction fees abroad. Were chime does .
      So u can use your varo card in Mexico , Canada , Australia, all of Europe, Asia and they won't charge international fees. Were as with chime it's gonna get pricey if you use your card in those places cuz chime does charge international fees.

    You forgot to mention one of the most important things about the credit builder card.

      @@allygaretzka2323 That’s what I’m going to do. Since my direct deposits go to Bank of America. In order to use the Chime Credit Builder I’m going to have a percentage directed to my Chime checking. I’m not sure if it’s all jobs but usually when you fill out the direct deposit with your employer. The paperwork would ask if there’s a percentage or certain amount you want deposited in a 2nd account. I use to have a percentage go into my savings so I wouldn’t have to do it myself. Your HR dept or payroll can tell you if it’s an option.
      To my understanding as far as the $200 direct deposit amount. It’s for the sake of showing that the Chime checking have been used for direct deposits. I had mine for a while and use to use it as my main account. So it didn’t ask for a deposit since I deposited way over $200 since I had it. However, the Chime Credit Builder is based on whatever amount you choose as your credit limit. I hope that helps.

    My credit score is already in the 'good' range, but I'd like to increase it even more while paying on my credit related bills at the same time.

So if you have a spouse who like to keep an eye on the money. You can't hide any gift purchases. Other than that, Chime is great to bank with. Also when I had set up direct deposit with Chime, I received $100 for doing so. I don't know if that's because I met some other criteria but that us what I received. Thanks for the video

That being said, it is important to remember that all of your money is FDIC insured so what kind of leaves me scratching my head when people say they had their money stolen by any of these companies because that doesn’t really make any sense considering it is literally backed by the federal government up to $250,000 or more in some cases. To deposit with chime I have to be charged five dollars for the pleasure. At a minimum of two deposits a month I am already looking at $120 a year. Thinking about moving from my credit union to another bank and Varo looks interesting. I’m a little confused though by some if the comments. So you have to keep your savings under $10k to get the higher APY? And I assume you also need to have Checking account in order to use the debit card 5 times per month as well as getting your direct deposits from your job. Is this correct?

    • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  Před 3 lety +2

    • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  Před 3 lety +4

      Pretty much all of these pay their interest monthly. Obviously when you’re looking at the APY, it is always going to be expressed as the annual interest but most banks compound that interest each month which actually means you’ll be earning a little bit more interest then if it was only compounded once a year. • @MagnifiedMoney
      @MagnifiedMoney  Před 3 lety +1

      APY Will continue to change as the national rates change as well. Typically there’s going to be a delay so if the federal government changes the interest rates then it will take some time for the banks to adjust but typically, yes, your interest-rate will change it is not locked in to what it started at.
