  • For Canadian Football fans and coaches we break down what man to man coverage called Cover 11 and Cover 10 means and why you would play it in a football game in the CFL. CFL on TSN Paul LaPolice has defensive football examples of the Toronto Argonauts, Montreal Alouettes, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Edmonton Elks running both coverages in games against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Redblacks diehard fan here! This is great content! It really gives us armchair coaches a whole new perspective, and some nice flashbacks to my time as a kid learning the playbooks, training camp, etc so thank you! My question is, and I'm using the diagram at mark 9:30 for reference, there were many times when the opponents offense would run slotbacks on slants, or corners to the inside around the 20 yard mark in the diagram. Sometimes the FB would sneak in there with a basic curl. I found that the Redblacks defense left that area open quite a bit. It seemed like the secondary was always in the 10-20 yard area and having to come back to the receiver at the 20-25 mark. As a fan, I was frustrated b/c this was almost always caught and to me seemed like "free" yards for the offense. I found it rare that we were able to get between the receivers and the QB for a potential interception. I hope my observations make sense to you. I would really like to understand the defense formations in this scenario, and what are the challenges in creating a defense that can stop those inside slants, corners and open up more opportunities for interceptions.

Enjoy the content, Coach. My question is: Now that we've had a couple of seasons with the hash marks closer together, do you feel it has made a significant impact to either the offensive or defensive side of the game?

One thing I don't understand is why the shift away from from your Chris Szarka type fullback on short yardage where maybe he crashes thru and goes 10yds, and shift to 3rd qb on sneak and why everyone does it?

This is a great idea and I will definitely do a coach's Playbook on it
