  • The drum set from Metal Earth is a bit more complicated than the guitar or bass guitar but will make a nice addition to the two. It took a little over two hours to complete.

    I put the tension rings on the trim ring first, then installed them as one piece and it worked out very well for me.

    Hey Brother!
    Just completed the Drum Set. I agree that the tension bands around the tom drums were difficult, but once I got them figured out, the remaining ones weren't as bad. The model itself came together nicely, and i enjoyed the build. Not too difficult, but challenging enough to keep my skills sharp. As always, thanks for the video, and tips. I'm looking forward to my next one. Take care man. Talk to you after the next build!

    As a drummer I thought I would start with this kit, but after the first 3 mins of the video I said "ummmm, no." A needle nose plier ain't gonna cut it! I have the guitar and bass too, so gonna start there. THANK YOU for the few seconds in the video where you said "ok, these parts are a real pain, take a deep breath and be patient because they get caught on everything ..." --- just watching you try and do it made me understand that I needed some practice. Thanks for the vid boss!! Great job

    Dayum! I have had this kit for about 2 years and have been putting off assembling it. Now I'm regreting my purchase. What was I thinking? There's no way I'm gonna be able to do this! I'm too heavy handed! :( Koodose to you mate. Well done!

      I understand. I am fairly heavy handed myself. A couple of years ago I would have likely smashed this drum set but I after practice after practice building others, I pulled it off. You could start with easier builds if you like. I have a playlist of easy builds.

    I just bought this kit an hour ago. Looking here to see what tools might be needed. Well i have needle nose and wire cutters at least. Idk if my stepson could have done the one i almost bought him for xmas. I might not be able to do this myself. I've never been good w models.

    A QUESTION ... HOW TO FOLD POINTS TO REMAIN STATIONARY PARTS? THANK YOU

    • @animateorange
      @animateorange  Před 7 lety +1

      I assume you are refering to the 90 degree bends. Depending on the part and area, they can be tricky. Most times I use a pair of flat tweezers and hold it near the base of the bend and push it over. Other times I just push them over with my fingernail. Sometimes you run into a situation where there is little support elsewhere and pushing on the tab could warp everything. You might need to use pliers or tweezers to hold on the the part with the tab while bending it over. Sometimes the hard part is to bend the tab without bending over something else. It really depends on the situation.

    Cutting these pieces out is the worst thing in the world. I have cutters but the whiles are too small for the cutters to even get in and cut! I’d need needle nose cutters just to get them out smh

    • @cindypogrund3081
      @cindypogrund3081 Před 4 lety

      Well it appears the trick is to post publicly that you can’t do it; then try again and you’ll get it secured first try:). Still open to hints for the next time. And thanks for the great videos. Your videos gave me the curiosity and courage to start this hobby with metals.

      @animateorange  Před 4 lety

      @@cindypogrund3081 It looks like you discovered an old trick of mine. Can't find something? Ask someone else where it is and suddenly you will find it! Seriously though, there isn't much of a trick other than to try to make sure the tabs are all straight and be persistent. It just a difficult part with flexible tabs that is just difficult to get. Having a set of precision tweezers might help, and steady hands, if possible.

    • @cindypogrund6969
      @cindypogrund6969 Před 4 lety +1

      @@animateorange I did figure out a "trick" that worked well for me as there are many part 26s in this build to practice on! I had been trying to attach it by putting the part on the top. When I flipped that and put part 26 on my finger and then turned the stand upside down I was able to easily get it on each time. Who knew!!

      The build itself is very tedious and boring, I think the kit is too small. if it is 50% bigger, it will be more fun and easier to handle. But when I finished it, it looks good. You definitely need a base to go with it, I build mine out of a wood block.

    • @animateorange
      @animateorange  Před 3 lety

      That looks to be a little different of a model. How similar was the build?

    • @daquan99999
      @daquan99999 Před 3 lety

      @@animateorange I didn't build the one you built. By watching your video and downloading the instruction from metal earth, I can say this set at hobby lobby is only 50% or less similar to the original drum set. It is more difficult. take the tension bands for example, it has 6~7 tiny bands to wrap and fold into the little "things" around the band. It takes 4 pieces to make the legs of drum instead of 1~2. To be honest, I think it is too tiny to be so complicated. Metal earth should make it bigger and it could be an entry level iconx model.
