I grew up in Caribou and graduated in the late 90s. I moved downstate in 2001 and the older I get, the more I miss it. Hopefully one day I can move back.
I hope so too. Thank you for watching.
Time kind'a stands still here in many places in Maine. I have lived in Machias, for over 10 years now and I did notice, sadly, that many businesses close, replaced by dollar stores, and I found out the Dollar Tree is better than some others, and wouldn't you know it, they skeedaddled also a couple years ago. Luckily, lobsters are more fun than Spuds or Brussel sprouts, so we do get the tourists again, after covid, as undoubtedly you guys in Caribou get the same summer tourist uptick, the camping and fishing and canoeing folks, I send you my greetings and hope for a future, where people from the rest of the USA will love to just sit in a green forest or a meadow, and enjoy cool summers as those are in decline in much of the US. Take care!
Nicely done ❤
My friend, you have brought tears to my eyes. I transferred from the US Coast Guard Alameda, CA, in 1986 to The USCG LORAN-C Station in Caribou. Of the eight years and four months of my enlistment, Caribou has a special place in my heart, my best tour of duty. How much Caribou has grown, but it is still a lovely place to be. I left Caribou on the last day of my USCG career, January 13, 1989. I visited Maine a few times after for business (a judge’s protective detail) while in the Marshals Service. As I said before, I am waiting for my wife of 43 years, an outstanding woman; she has endured military life and law enforcement life, so we can finally retire in the state that we love so much. Brother, I cannot thank you enough for this video.
Best regards, and stay safe. 🙏
I live for comments like yours. Thank-you for the edification. If you ever get up here let me know, I will buy you a Tim Hortons coffee and you can teach me how to say, "ferrocarril," correctly. Thank-you for your service.
@@TheseMaineTowns 😂😂😂 You betcha, brother, about Ferrocarril, my rrrrrrrs are not rolled 😂😂😂 stay safe 🙏

Isn't there a dog park on N River Rd, in Fort Fairfield too?
Awesome place!!
Thank you for watching
What restaurant are you referring to?
Love this town so much. Just small-towny enough but just urban enough.
Couldn’t agree more. Thank you for watching.
Can you see the eclipse there
Yes.
