I smiled through the whole. I admire your bravery and power of memory for the words and emotion. The band bashed it out and made me realise the greatness of Fairport. I would have been an absolute pirate if I saw that show. Do you still play and if you do. Listen Listen is the shanty I would love to hear live. A song that grabbed me and I still have to turn up. All the best. Steve Lites.
Thank you Steve for your comment greatly appreciated. I haven't played in this line up for quite some time! I'll check out 'Listen Listen' I appreciate the suggestion! Apologies for the delayed reply I have only just found all notifications!!! :)
Stumbled upon this and so glad I did. I always maintain that any artist that covers a song has to do it as well or even better than the original. It would be almost impossible to beat Sandy Denny's vocals on Fairport Convention's early version of this song - may she rest in peace knowing that you did a bang up job covering her. I also like Doc Watson's version of this song done in the same era of Fairport Convention, with a slightly different story. I'll look forward to listening to more of your songs. 😃
The one thing I love about this song is how many versions you can listen to. Yours is right up there. Its has this New Orleans/Jethro Tull feel about it. My only criticism is whoever was with the camera needs to learn how to pan or stop drinking the extra caffinated coffee
@@cymruisrael Probably not, but in 2018, I belueve that I saw the next best thing when Natalie Merchant did a wonderful, impromptu version, accompanied by just her acoustic guitarist in a tiny venue.
Love this rollicking old song; about 500 years old!
Fairport Convention has always been my favorite for this song, that is
until now!
Wow Chuck thank you great praise indeed and much appreciated 🙏🏾
Best version most exciting I've Ever heard. Kudos to Eva Abraham and musicians
Thank you so much Judith for your comment we really appreciate it :)
Met her several times and what a really nice lady.
Never thought I would like a version more than Fairport, but this is fantastic.
Thank you ☺
Not better in any way sorry
@@SocialStoicCZcams They didn't say this version was "better" than Fairport's, merely that they liked this version more.
Fantastic version.
BRAVO !! Thank you for this great version !!!
Thank you so much Steve 🙏🏾
@@EvaAbrahamOfficial You're welcome
Hey, Sparkes..., Music is not a competition;not good, better, best. Unique souls ding it different. This rendition is nothing short of genius! Geez...
This is fantasic
she rocked it.
Any Fairport-album will cost you deep in the purse these days.

Awesome! Amazing Band! I wish I had been there to hear it live.
Thank you Wilmar I really appreciate that. Happy New Year to you ☺
Hep you sing this more than once...
seems to be a one to one copy of the superb versions by Fairport Convention, either with or without Sandy Denny.
Matty Grove was a naughty boy!
Not really. He and his lover wanted to be together. Lord Donald murdered them both
Ok, Lord Donald's wife was naughty first.
Lol your name is literally the alternate title of this song!
Injurious Personalities Yes, "the ballad of little Musgrave " . A relative told me about the song and I got hooked.
Lord Donald is the true hero of this song.🙂
Not a bad version at all.

I'm not the only one who thought of Tull, it seems :)
Jeg kan godt li' reggaeviben.
it screams the pentangle
Hope, sorry about that
mmmm????
A great cover but not as good as Sandy's was but, there again sandy was pure class.
No version is as good as Sandy's.
This version is as good! What a rude thing to say to a performer who has given a great performance!
