Just because they name their son after Leonard doesnt mean his dead alot of people named their kid after a bestfriend or a loved one thats a love one
To me it would be weird to name a child after your best friend if not as a memorial thing
It's an Easter egg. We never knew Penny's last name in TBBT. We are told Penny babysits Sheldon's daughter. His daughter is never named.
Yes their did give his daughter name you must have missed it when Sheldon name his son and daughter
There was an episode where Sheldon receives a package on behalf of her when she does the jewelry business for a brief time.. Her full name is seen on label.
In S2 episode 18, It was shown that Penny's full name was Penny Teller before she became the Hofstadter

Just because he named his Son Leonard does not mean Leonard is dead. It's not uncommon for people to name their kids after someone that was a strong influence on their lives exp father, brother, best friend so on and so on. Leonard and Shelton were best friends Lenard had an influence on Shelton. Sure it's possible he is dead but people are jumping on this theory just because they share the same name
In young sheldon they talk about this earlier and from that he isn't dead from previous seasons when they over speaking of the past.
Based on the context provided I believe we can safely deduce the character of Leonard suffered greatly at the hands of a madman.
It could be context driven. You gotta remember that your friends are but a small part of your life and then your wife and children become your entire life.This is especially true if they live in different cities because you tend to see each other a lot less and you get new friends.
To wit, why would Sheldon and Amy need to clarify which Leonard if the context does not include the Hofstadters in any way? If the context includes talking about the activities their children do then Sheldon, of all people, should be able to infer which Leonard is being referenced.

No reason really to support the theory Leonard passed away. In season 2 of Young Sheldon, older Sheldon's narration says he named his son after Leonard Nimoy (Spock). Amy would not let him use Nimoy as his middle name though.
He is obviously named mainly after Hofstadter. He is named after both Hofstadter and Nimoy. Sheldon was mainly joking when he said that he wanted to make his middle name Nimoy.
It was mentioned in a early episode with an unbelievable comment that Amy didn't want to name the child Leonard. Like why wouldn't she, she liked Leonard.
Naming a child after someone you know and regularly interact with can get awkward.
i think the cal tech ending was probably right, i did like the moment, i just think it seemed abrupt because of the commercial before it. If they put it before the break with some kind of transition i think it plays like they intended it to. Waiting during the commercials made the ending anticlimatic, even if it was a good way to end. CBS should've let them break the format on commercials and given the ending room to breathe
There was an episode of TBBT where Leonard and Shelfon had a big fight over the Roommate Agreement. It ended when Leonard agreed to sign it, and Sheldon agreed to name one day a year as Leonard Day and to name all of his children after Leonard. So it looks like he at least named his eldest after Leonard to honor the Agreement .
The ending of the episode felt abrupt. Thought they would’ve gone back to adult Sheldon or had some kind of montage with something from season 1. The walking through the house felt more appropriate than the cal tech ending
The rest of the episode was good.
Amy and sheldon literally say in the last few episodes of the Big Bang that sheldon was going to name his kid after his best friend, just watch the last episode of Big Bang
I guess it was partly to do with having to set everyone up to start moving towards their more intense and estranged versions we know from TBBT and it was challenging to reconcile Mary’s fundamentalist turn with a final scene together. Would’ve still liked to see a bit more closure at the end

Maybe because it's not about Leonard or any other character rather than Sheldon that would be the exact same as if Bruce Wayne was being bankrupt and people are flipping their s*** when we don't name call Superman or Wonder Woman it's not about them it's about Bruce Wayne I know what's a long stretch and Bruce Wayne and Sheldon Cooper have nothing to do with each other but that's what I mean It's not about the characters of big bang theory it's about showden Cooper and what he was going through before he met them

With respect, this is a ridiculous interpretation. First, what Easter egg? Both shows are over. The Walowitzes and Raj weren't mentioned either. Is it your position that they're dead too? Here's an Easter egg, Young Sheldon was about Sheldon! Logically, the series finale was about the family coping with the loss of George and Sheldon starting a new phase of his life. Reading more into it and morbidly killing off Leonard is not, I'm sure, the intent of the writers.
