The great thing about a tesla is that they are fast where it makes sense. Most people race from digs or from low rolls. Alot of cars would catch the tesla on the big end but idk about you but doing 130+ on normal streets all the time just sounds like a way to go to jail.
They are pretty slow from rolls....and you can run into roll races everyday.
@@hasangenc2922 they are definitely not slow from a roll you have instant acceleration I've driven the model s performance and it's no slouch at any speed
@@waynerhea6649 for their hp, they are definitely slow apart from the jump they do from their instant torque...slower by 2 seconds on average from 60 to 130mph than a comparable ICE car.

I ran a model 3 dual motor long range in my stock 01 Z06 with a passenger, a full load of groceries and in 111° heat from a dead stop and I actually got a better start. He came past at 60 mph and kept pulling til 100. He put a car and a half on me. I thought that was pretty good. In cooler weather with no extra weight that would be a locked race. The long range model 3 is slower to 60 but from about 50+ mph it's the same as the performance model. Probably why I stayed ahead of him thru first gear and only fell behind at 60+

Recently saw dyno video of 2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance showing 523 WHP. The HP and torque are nearly instant. That makes more sense than the official Tesla number of 450 HP based on how it performs against other similar HP cars.
I bought a Model 3 Performance and sold my CLS63 AMG with 600-625 HP. For driving under 100 MPH the Model 3 is hands down the more fun car to have unless you want to spend over $150K for a car. For over 100 MPH the AMG has unending toque and power and more fun. Given I only have the opportunity to drive above 100 MPH 0.01% of the time, the Tesla made more sense to me. Have yet to come across an ICE car challenger that has beat my Model 3. They are either simply just too slow off the line and/or can't put the HP down onto the road. I know they are out there and I will get smoked one day, but having fun trying to find one.
Only drove the Tesla for about a month before I sold the AMG. When I drove the AMG again to drop it off it felt so sluggish and slow. Could never to go back to the AMG. Best of both worlds would be the Tesla Paid with 1020 HP. I drove one and it is simply a beast both under or over 100. Brutal acceleration. But over 2x the price of Model 3. Was sad to see the AMG go. Really liked that car but we're coming to the end of an era. Also the Model 3 exhaust note doesn't sound nearly as good as the AMG's. :p

The C6 should of launched at around 3k rpm. I'm seeing a lot of drag races where the ICE car will launch from idle. Very little point launching at idle from a dig.
People that know what they are doing do not launch from idle.

Not saying you're wrong but there's also some nuance to consider with the C6Z launch techniques. The C6Z has launch control to launch at a higher RPM with traction control off and active handling on. It will do all the work for you. However, many owners have actually found the cars to have faster 60ft times at the strip by launching at ~1500-2k rpms without launch control. There's also a lot less strain on the drivetrain than a higher RPM launch.

You keep the pedal to the floor the whole time, launch control holds the RPMs until you release the clutch pedal, the car stays straight with stability control, and tires keep from spinning with traction control. All that's left is to shift, but I'm talking about the launch itself. Thanks for pointing out Z06 didn't come with launch control until 2010, didn't know that.
Are you sure that vette is full bolt on? My friends LS7 made 510whp with only a cam & exhaust. Now that he's full bolt on, he's over 600whp+
Typically, bolt on LS7's run right around the 490-510whp mark. Head work and the right cam goes a long way.
My heads cam exhaust base c6 makes about 530 to the wheel. But with the cam being so aggressive, drivability is poop.
My FBO and cammed Z06 is dynoed 625whp with a slipping clutch. Replaced it with Tilton twin disc racing clutch and not a slip. I bet it will gain a few whp if I put it on a dyno.

As a muscle car owner, we gotta respect that a stock Tesla is competing with a FBO Z06 that pushing anywhere from 6-650+ horsepower. It’ll be a scary day when Tesla owners are able to mod their cars 😵💫

it's crazy how desensitized we are to everything now as a society because of social media and access to seeing everything. we look at 12 second 1/4 miles as slow now because we see it so much on youtube. same with powerlifting. we see a select few deadlifting 800+ lbs and its almost non impressive anymore. to put it in perspective the tesla model s plaid does the 1/4 mile in 9.3 seconds. that is faster than a bugatti chiron at 9.4 seconds. we live in an amazing world right now

My C5Z stock with a 75 shot at 415 whp runs exactly the same as that C6Z against a Model 3 P so I'm not sure where that 518whp figure came from. Plus they don't make 518 whp with headers and intake. A friend of mine has one with a cam and ported heads that made 550 on his dyno, same dyno my 75 shot C5Z made 415. 518 is way out of the question for just bolt ons. My C5Z bone stock with no mods trapped 144 in the 1/2 mile and a Model 3 P that was there did 137.

How do Tesla’s track so well and yet corvettes have problems getting traction?
From what I could gather, the MCU in the Tesla checks for wheel slip just over 1,000 times per second and since electrons travel at near the speed of light any reduction in traction can be adjusted for before one entire wheel slip revolution even occurs.
@@cyumadbrosummit3534 Yes this is part of the reason. The IBGT gate transistors in a model S have a switching frequency of 20,000 cycles per second. It can detect and modify wheel torque literally within milliseconds. The model 3p have new generation Silicon Carbide MOSFETS to handle electrical switching. Their theoretical limit is 100,000 cycles per second. They are able to modify wheel torque with less than 1 degree of rotation. Traditional ICE traction control is just guessing how much traction a surface has. In an EV because of the high degree and speed of control knows exactly how much traction a surface can handle.
Easiest answer is all wheel drive.

Everyone here talking about about people usually dig race on streets. I’ve owned several fast cars over 700hp and 98% of the time you roll race on the interstate or highway not dig race.
My 550 whp C6 Zo6 beat 3 of these things easily, they are very quick down low though.

There is a P100D in the town I live in that I've run my C6Z against, at least half a dozen times. Doesn't seem to matter if its from a dig, 30, or 70 mph roll I have never gained on him once. The thing Dragy'd at 10.66 on the shitty street we raced on. Now I'm hearing Tesla just sent out some update and these things are doing 10.4-10.5? Im done messing with these things.

I keep looking up videos and am waiting on my M3P to arrive. I have a long range AWD with the acceleration boost right now. A guy I was talking to this weekend has a C8R and I told him I was doubtful I could hang with it in a 2023 MP3...feeling like it would be a better race then I thought
